I understand that western peoples are mostly sceptic, even though you may believe in God and miracles and magic and supernatural phenomenon, you guys always want an answer right? An explanation on why things happen like it happen, the reason behind things that make it happen, how things goes on and what is the cause of things to happen...you guys cannot accept "it's God's work" This cannot be in "magical stories", because in magic/miracle/mystical stories what make it is magic/miracle/mystical is because it is magic/miracle/mystical...understand? There cannot be a CAUSE that lead to or explain these thing...it's magic, it's miracle, it's mystic When you put in something to jutify them, it's no longer "mysterious power that existed just because it's existed either you believe it or not, you may argue about it's existence but you may never know the truth behind it because it is simply mysterious"
-
Do you even magic bro? Sorry. I am not even bro.... We are all bro here. I am not even here, whatever... So if science explains one of God's creations, the creation is no longer Godly? -snip- i. If you look into science, then why bother about "Godly creation"? Science don't prove or disprove "Godly creation" because "Godly creation" is based on FAITH, not FACT ii. Jedi claim about the Force is proven by midichlorian, before midichlorian it is not proven true, just belief iii. Before science, everything is mystical. It seems to be you just want to argue for the sake of arguing, that's why i am not bother answering

If a magician does a trick, then certainly he knows how it is done (whether you do or not). Does that knowledge make it any less magic? it makes it doesn't even magic

My point is if you put in things to justify mystic power, it is no longer mystic. I am using simple English here but you guys either don't understand or pretend not to understand It is called SCEPTICISM "This thing happen because of this and that, there is no such thing as magic" The Force and anti-Magic of Templar are mystical power before they retconed it by puting reasons behind it. It become sceptic, the Jedis able to use the Force BECAUSE they have a lot of midichlorians, the Templars got their power BECAUSE they consume lyrium. When you give explanation on why something happen, then it's lost it's mystical value Many religious peoples today trying to explain things in the Holy Books because people like you guys no longer believe in miracles and higher powers, you can see such things done by people like Harun Yahya who wrote books and making documentaries about so called scientific things in the Quran (Muslim Holy Book), it is because peoples today want an explanation on everything. By doing that then religion become sceptic, because everything miraculous no longer miraculous You may argue to death Obi Wan saying The Force is "energy" surround everything, but i again repeat only Jedi believe that, non-Jedi (or anyone who are not into Jedi religion) don't believe it. Jedi power is mystical powers before Lucas give an explanation on why Jedi can use their powers. It is the same with Shaolin monk claim we all have "Chi" and they learned to use the "Chi", then it is no longer mystic when someone become sceptic explaining how Shaolin monk can walk on fire brimstones If you try to explain how magicians do their trick, will it still a magic trick? "There's tiny little rope on the stage....."

The concept and idea of life energy is universal to esotericism and not exclusive to shaolin monks or even other chinese traditions like TCM or martial arts. It exists as prana, mana (yes, mana), energy or ruah in a lot of other traditions and mysticism, and while the force shares some similarities and may even be partially based on qi, it certainly isn't synonymous. And no, qi isn't science, it is faith. Now that's my point, IT IS FAITH But then what about someone put in "midichlorian" in that faith, what it become? "Oi Shaolin monk, you can do those things because you have a lot of midichlorians not like us, that's not fair!"
-
Sure they mock the old religion - the Sith only have two force users, the Master and the Apprentice. The order itself is considered long gone. But you seem to be working under the assumption that any opinion held by a religion must be related to mystical or spiritual matters which doesn't seem to be true. Obi-Wan did not say that it was a mystical or mysterious power, though. -snip- Will you accept this as science? They say it's the "chi" that is simply "energy suround us, inside us, penetrate us and bind everything" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XhK4-36OuQ

Oh boy. Midichlorians or not, the fact alone that "the Force is strong in [Luke]" after knowing about for for a day or two just tells bare and plain that is some innate ability and not something gained through training and meditation. Empire Strikes Back then shows that you can improve upon your innate abilities through training. The idea that the Force represents some religion or mythical force that anyone could access through training and faith is a (now apparently proven false) assumption on your end. Nothing else. You're making an awful lot of those and then react annoyed if your own ideas don't match up with those of the writers. Do you do that if reality isn't to your liking as well? Alright, i change "the Force" with "Chi" Shaolin monk said we all have Chi, everything have Chi, the whole universe bind by Chi Now change all Jedis dialogues in Star Wars, change "the Force" with "Chi" "The Chi is strong with this one"..."The Chi is my ally, the strong ally it is, it bind everything, penetrate us..." You can only learn to use the Chi by becoming a Shaolin monk, enable you to break walls, walking on fire brimstones, get hit on your **** without any pain...ect Will you accept "Chi" is something "natural and mundane" and not mystical? Is Chi even science? Now what about the Shaolin monk say "if you have XYZ gene you can use Chi outright, it's nothing, it's just science, everything we say about Chi is just crap"
-
Again, Jedi is a RELIGIOUS group, look at Han Solo dialogues, he don't believe in such, he don't believe the Force, also other characters dialogues such as the Imperial officers who mock the "old religion". Whatever Obi Wan or the Jedi said about the Force is from their belief, it is mystical, a mysterious power or energy that bind everything, that is Jedi belief. You can learn to use it by becoming a Jedi. At least this is what being presented in Episode 4 to 6 "The Force is strong with this one", what that implied? This person have a lot of midichlorians? Midichlorian DESTROY mystical and mysterious aspect of "the Force"

Obi-Wan in STAR WARS - "It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together." Obi-Wan specifically says all living things are connected to the force, that's mundane - not miraculous. Energy field that ONLY people with a lot of "X-gene" can manipulate and use it. That is why it is no longer mystical/miraculous, all you need is "X-gene" Perhaps I'm misunderstanding you (or you I); Obi-Wan hasn't been proven incorrect that the Force is a mundane element of the Star Wars universe. It still surrounds and penetrates and binds the galaxy regardless or how many people can manipulate it. Its still a mundane, natural element of the Star Wars universe. Yes, only JEDI said that isn't it? Do you hear Star Wars scientists (or anyone else) say the same? No? You only hear that from Jedis. (And Jedi is a religious group/order). But Episode 1 make it a science by adding midichlorian that is simply "X-gene" I am a Muslim, from my faith it is God who move everything literally, it is in the Holy Book, will you accept that as "natural element of this world"?. We have "saints" (wali) who have some "karamah" we believe as God given gifts to them to do some miraculous things. (Sure you cannot accept that because you are not a Muslim) So then someone say "if you have XYZ-gene you can do those things", it automtically become science and no longer mystic Understand?

This makes no sense. First Lyrium is a magical substance that gives you access to the spirit world. It is hardly HNO3 or whatever. Secondly in DA:O it was just a skill Alistair could teach anybody, like one might teach any combat skill. So I am not sure what the basis of that assumption was. You did not get any scene of Alistair teaching you intense meditation or anything. Of course lyrium is a "magical substance" but actually it's a mineral dug up from earth, is "magic in raw form", so in other word means it's "the Fade" in chemical form, since magic come from the Fade, lyrium is a physical Fade. You consume it, you get the Fade inside you. But according to Alistair in DA:O, we don't really need lyrium to learn Templar ability, that give the impression that Templar ability is something you gain by dedication, training and understanding of religion (this goes the same with Jedi). I compare the ability with Spirit School magic of DA:O, there is so much similarity, so i assume the anti-Magic line of Spirit school is NOT actually magic, well the school itself is ANTI-magic. Since Spirits are The Maker's first children, there you can get the conclusion, Templar have the connection with the divine influence through their understanding of religion and dedication in their faith. I assume it is just the Chantry who is corrupt, want to control the Templars by giving them lyrium to make them addicted, also fooling them by saying lyrium increase the magnitude of their ability Furthermore, anti-magic is NOT magic isn't it? So why would lyrium that is "magic in raw form" giving anti-magic effect for Templars? Eh? For me, there is NO justification for "you really need lyrium to learn Templar ability" in DA2 and DA:I, it totally toss away the religious side of the thing. You are no longer gain power by your understanding and dedication in religion, you gain your power by chemical substance and manipulate it. It have nothing to do with divine thingies, therefore those divine thingies don't exist, religion is fake So now you guys understand my argument? P/S yes you don't see a cutscene video but you get the dialogue scene from Alistair "i could teach you" and "sent everyone who is trained as a warrior" implying Alistair DID teaching Templar ability WITHOUT lyrium
-
Maybe they will, it is all science now, they want to make you believe there is no such thing as miracles or higher power, it is all science In Dragon Age, Fenris is an example, he have lyrium tattoo that give him powers, meaning the chemical substance that enable him to do magical things, there is no such thing as magic per se, it's science So non-mutants (non-Mage) can have powers by using chemical stuff (lyrium), there is no mystic about it, it is all science. Before the retcon, i assume that Templar ability is gift from The Maker, and have relation with part of Spirit School magic since Spirits are Makers first children, but later it is all just chemistry

Obi-Wan in STAR WARS - "It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together." Obi-Wan specifically says all living things are connected to the force, that's mundane - not miraculous. Energy sield that ONLY people with a lot of "X-gene" can manipulate and use it. That is why it is no longer mystical/miraculous, all you need is "X-gene" Before the midichlorian thing, we or atleast lots of people assume we need a dedication in Jedi religion and training to able to use the miracle/magic, but turn out to be no, it just a natural random selection of evolution creating people with "X-gene" enabling them to manipulate the energy If you still don't understand, it's like this...you have to be a Buddhist and become a Shaolin monk living as a priest before you can kick ass using your Chi like no one can ever achieve if they not join the Shoalin temple...this is Star Wars before Episode 1 and Dragon Age:Origin But the later serries...you are born with special gene or something in your blood that automatically give you Chi, you don't really need to become a Shaolin monk and become a Buddhist because it is all already in you....you can kick ass with Chi and Shaolin Kung Fu without being a Shaolin monk, because it have nothing to do with religion, belief system whatsoever...it is just science, and you are lucky to born with it or injecting something in your blood not like other peoples

Fake class is pointless and i hate it. The reason is in the middle of the game i don't know what i want to build anymore, snce every path is open and in the end it doesn't make any difference, it just me who try hard giving own rule for not being a jane of all trades, in which i usually failed to hold to my own rule anyway the simple example is Dark Souls, it just me who keep remind my self of not using magic, but i keep investing in attunement in the end because some magic are free and is there to use...meaning my character is always can use magic, just invest some stats and equipt catalyst/talisman/flame I still believe in class system, it give an idea on the path i want to go, either i change it or not it is up to me, even if change it a little bit it will not go as far as becoming a total hybrid. If i want a hybrid i will choose hybrid.
-
I view a sci-fi setting as a perfect chance to get away from those tropes personally. Perhaps even avoid classes altogether. If it's party based there must be classes, and if it's turn based there must be stats too, it can't be avoided If if remove the class choices in the begining, the player will end up set up classes anyway.
-
What class should be in Sci Fi fantasy anyway? Soldier, commando--->warrior, tank Technician, smuggler--->rogue, dps Psychic, medic--->mage, nuker, healer It will goes around that isn't it? What makes the difference?

Um the ashes of the prophet literally does heal the sick and you get to talk to people who knew Andraste personally. The only lame reason the non-believers have to counter this is there is alot of Lyrium in the area. I don't care how much lyrium is around if the scull of St. Peter could actually miraculously heal the sick and I could talk to Pontius Pilate and he was all 'yep I talked to Jesus, it's all true'. Well let's just say most of us would run not walk to the Cathdral to become Catholics. The actual Catholics amongst us might even start practicing. Fade and Demons = SCIENCE! You clearly miss my point....they always give doubt about the existence of God in DA universe, while the existence of demons is clear cut. You said yourself Andraste Ash could be lyrium infused thing or something that could relate with lyrium, it also could be miracle from God. But demons are there in and out of the Fade, there is no doubt about the demons existence, they simply exist. Atheists don't believe in the existence of flying spaggheti isn't it, but in DA even if you are atheist you still believe demons exist because you see demons everywhere. So what makes you in DA universe, you can't claim to be atheist. It's simple...there is god and there is demons, this is simple logic, the value of god is the opposite of the value of demons...since you believe there is demons because you see them, but you deny God, then you are a Satanist That is what being implanted into your subconcious mind...God don't exist, but demon is...they even said clearly in DA:O, the Rage demon say "there is no Maker, only demons...", then the Templar Sir Otto got backstabbed by giant trident That is the whole point of DA series, and DA:I showing blatantly about that...you may deny being Herald of Andraste, you may play along being Herald of Andraste, either way you are not a Herald of Andraste at all. But demons is everywhere.... Oh yes, regardng Mages, they are born Mages, so they are mutant, they have afinity to the Fade and Demons, it's something in their blood, that's make them mutant, so that's science

If Obsidian want to create a sci-fi fantasy games, i think using D20 system like KotOR will be awesome, i don't like FPS Explore the ancient aliens ruins in mysterious unknown planets, discover a plot to donimate the galaxy and try to stop it, involve in epic galatic war between alien races, gather allies and face the dangers set along the path, find out who's the culprit behind everything.... KotOR 3 please!
-
The truth is out there... -snip- Joking aside, now I'm actually getting curious about the game. What explain Jedi powers then? Jedis are born with midichlorian therefore they are mutants with "X-gene" that give them powers. It's a trend nowadays to diminished any miracles and making it into science Same thing goes into Dragon Age, you need lyrium to do miracle, the drug who give you powers, not God. They retconed it into that. In the first game there is a grey area where you are hinted that The Maker exist and grant you power against magic out of your dedication in faith, the Chantry who is corrupt, later they change it into you take drug you get power, The Maker have nothing to do with it and He maybe don't exist But in anyway, they show demons exist, you can see demons everywhere in this game, in and out of the Fade. They give you doubt about the existence of God but they tell you demons exist. What is that? They are Satanists. See? They try hard to indoctrinate you that God don't exist, but they say demons exist... Bioware is Illuminati

KOTOR3? Possible? Likely! (Thoughts and Opinions)
Qistina replied to TheExile's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Yes, fthe only way is to remake KotOR, making it into new version, then make KotOR 3 based on the remake. It will pissed off some lore suckers of course, but what the hell, DC and Marvel already done that despite everything, there will be new fans for new version of DC and Marvel heroes There must be new Revan and new Exile like what Disney wanted, and we all must accept whatever they remake about them both -
I give you an example, it is fine when Alistair said "You don't really need lyrium to learn Templar ability", it give some hint that their ability is miracle from God, meaning The Maker that is God really existed in that universe, it just that the Chantry fooling the Templars making them a drug addict to control, so the Chantry who is the bad one. I am fine by that. It didn't attack the faith of the character itself, it only attack the religious system who control the religion (ie church or mullahs) But they smash it all since DA2 making you really need lyrium, Templar ability come from lyrium. Alistair is just stupid because he don't take the vow, so he don't know he really need lyrium, meaning the ability is NOT a miracle. It is like midichlorian in Star Wars, it neglect everything mystic about the Force and the basis of the Jedi religion. So you need midichlorian to use the Force, not dedication in faith, it's not miracle it's science, it's biology. Some people have midichlorian and they can use some mutant power The same way here, Templar ability is not miracle given to them because of their faith to God, but it just biochemistry come from drug consumption. Take drug and you can get cool powers.
-
Well, not all people are faithful and not all people are smart, these people who become their target in their agenda. Mind control Illuminati

For me ofcourse nothing will change my faith, but for the masses it implant an idea that religion is bad. The ones who already hate religion will agree with every points they put it in the game and generalize all religions are like that. So it's kind of throw petrol on fire. "Oh, religion is something that make believe", you agree with that? It doesn't matter if there are people who think religion cause harm than good, but there are religious people also who believe religion bring good, it will be an endless debate, and to point out what we think about it do more harm than good isn't it? The difference between DA lore about religion with other games is they make religion in DA closer to real religion. You never see The Maker or having any hint on His existence, you can doubt The Maker even exist, but everything in DA:O is about The Maker curse the world making it turn out like that. Does it really true or not or some religious fanatics who make it out to be as excuse to justify everything they done? You see what i mean? Then Mythal the God of the Elves, they reveal it is Flemeth, and Flemeth make excuse why she don't show herself to the Elves because "They don't want the truth!", so does that means the Elves are totally wrong about what they believe in and their religion is false? That give an idea that all religion are in such way, just stories to make believe. The whole thing about Herald of Andraste is just make believe, the Inquisitor is NOT the chosen one whatsoever but you can play along with what people believe, no matter what people still believe you are the chosen one. (you can also make believe yourself a chosen one, the mask become self). What does that mean? All prophets are in such nature just playing a role to please the crowd? Does Jesus not a chosen one but having some magic to do stuff and playing with people gullibility?

Thoughts on Knights of the Old Republic
Qistina replied to Althernai's topic in Computer and Console
Everything that don't need our own reflex is turn based, by means we put in stats for our character and then our character act by their own based on stats given, the dice roll calculate everything. The dice calculate for you and the enemies, so that's the turn. Dragon Age:Origin upgrade this mechanic by allow us to execute order bypass the turns such as casting magic or doing special attacks. But sadly they smash it all in DA2 and utterly destroy it in DA:I In turn based, the enemy will always attack first because the first turn is always their turn. -
Thoughts on Knights of the Old Republic

It is turn based, there are rounds, it just look like arcade, but the combat take turns
