  1. what you feel about this subject .. I've discovered that it's something alot of people don't want to talk about - and therefore don't really take a stand. Which I want them to do - so I just want you to think about it and answer what you believe is the right thing to do. Yeah Copenhagen is a good example of not wanting to face the issue .. instead of actually talking about it (and doing something serious about it), they simply ignore it and let it grow in criminal "underworld".. people are literally being shipped to Denmark and then out into the rest of Europe for prostitution!
  2. I would say the biggest are - Zeus, Poseidon, Hera, Athena, Apollo and Ares .. which is six! but they haven't really used Poseidon yet.. Zeus - Adama, Hera - The Child, Athena - Sharon, Apollo - Lee and Ares - can't remember who they said that was.. This is at least what roles they have played so far .. not saying they are the Cylons! but it's interesting that the two religions in this series are the Greek Pantheon and an opposing single God .. it kinda seems like they are telling the tale of how Christianity conquered Europe..
  3. if done in a good way all these combinations could be great.. but often they fail simply because it's too extensive! a good RTS/RPG would be awesome though.. but really hard to realize!
  4. yes it is.. I really enjoy Lost and BFG - especially because, behind the entertainment, the writers are trying to make a statement and trying to critisize and examin morality/religion/the human mind/why we believe - and so on. And how all these catagories interact. -- But what do you guys think of these "Five" unkowns? I feel it's a tricky area - which can both lift the series or seriously ruin it.
  5. From the earliest time prostitutes have existed! It is often referred to as "the oldest profession in the world" - But the question have been raised in much of Europe - is it an important vent? or the oppression of women? (I'm only discussing women who choose this profession themselves - as sex-slaves are clearly oppressed!) The romantic view would have you believe that most prostitutes are not only happy doing it - they are also serving a very important service to society. They are allowing sexually frustrated men a place to blow off the steam - in a controlled environment. While the feministic view (popularly called) would have you believe that these women are clearly traumatized - since no one would purposefully choose this profession, if they weren't victims of some kind of abuse - which have perverted their views on sexuality. They are victims and should be helped. Yesterday I had a sit-down with an anthropologist, a social worker and a philosopher. We discussed this issue - and they had quite different views! I will try to sum it up for you here: (of course these are individuals and their opinions are as such - individual) The Anthropologist (female): They are part of society and cannot be removed - as such it would be wisest to integrate them under the law in order to protect them. This way you prevent the illegal use of prostitution - which is impossible to regulate. The Social Worker (female): Most prostitutes are victims of some kind of abuse - either early or late in life. They are often forced into it because of difficult circumstances - like feeding a family. It should be made illegal since it's clear that very few can handle this kind of work for very long - such abuse of sexuality leaves deep scars. The Philosopher (male): The reason why these prostitutes are stigmatized are simply because organized religion has condemned this profession for over a millennia - they feel ashamed even if they choose it themselves - as it would take extraordinary character to oppose an entire society and not feel abandoned. So in essence the profession is not the issue; it's whether or not we can accept it. If we can, allowing prostitution is a good idea - if we can't, it should be made illegal. - It's a tough call, since you are forced to make assumption on behalf of a lot of people - assumptions you aren't qualified to make. It must come down to what you believe in - and I believe that some of them are doing it because they want to - and they should be allowed to do it! but the profession needs heavy restrictions and survey - to make sure no one is harmed or traumatized. what do you think?
  6. - Spoilers for those who haven't seen Season 3 - I think we are seeing the begining of a mini civil war in the Cylon society (or at least a fraction).. the virus proved to them that they are not invincible, plus more and more Cylons are showing distinct personalities that differs from even their own models. They are becoming more human - with all that entails.. and the Humans religion is proving to be quite accurate, so maybe there is a link between the Cylon God and the opposing Pantheon. Which presents the more faithful with some scripture problems. I'm also quite intrigued by the concept of "The Five" - especially since that number also plays an importance in the Epiphany. And now that Balthar is an important figure in the Cylon fleet - he'll surely stur things up big time!
  7. I felt that the show lost alot after The Second Exodus and it was a bit cheesy imo, that the characters returned to their prior selves. Loosing weight, cutting hair, and beards, off. It was as if the whole "New Caprica" detour was just a storytelling device, used to create a breathing room - in which the writers could prepare us for another long haul through space.. which I was ready for in the first place.. They got some of the greatness back in "The Eye of Jupiter", because now the relationship between Human and Cylon has indeed transcended.. And religion is taking over the story - which I actually like alot. Especially how Cylons are much like Judeo-Christians and the Humans are the Pagans (polytheistic). I've always been a fan of Sci-Fi that questions the very fiber of society and takes a good thourough look at the mechanics behind. And making Cylons monotheistic is a really interesting idea. Since in essence that is one of the driving religious factors of most modern societies. So if you analyze it; "we" (westerns and maybe Muslims) are actually the Cylons.. but enough of that - my point is simply - they got some of the good stuff back into the show! much to my joy.. I hope they stay on the course! and I'm looking forward to the conclusion in January. - Rosbjerg
  8. or maybe Obsidian had a good spin-doctor?
  9. " <{POST_SNAPBACK}> funny.. I never caught that..
  10. anyone know Richard Cheese? I'm currently listing the some of his cd's .. damn he's funny - he "swankyfies" songs (Jazz/Swings them) - His version of "Michael Jackson and McCartneys - The girl is mine" is gold! because he is doing the duet with Stephen Hawkins..
  11. I'd always thought Orson Wells directed The Third Man..
  12. Wow that is pretty wierd.. I had no idea they were that insane just south of me.. Which suprises me + I actually thought Germans were some of the architects behind this recent - no smoking - campaign in Europe.. guess not! ^_^ But storming a company, under such limited pretens, like that should be illegal - or at least they should get some compensation for the embarrasment that this incident caused! like a public apology..
  13. I've picked it up and I'm gonna see it sometime tommorw.. I loved Richard Linklater's work with Waking Life - so I'm looking forward to this one..
  14. he did say "Funneh" not "Funny" .. and that's a good thing, 'cause it definitely ain't funny!
  15. I actually enjoyed both on the first playthrough.. but I was more involved in the story on Peragus, it was deeper and more mysterious.. So that's my pick!
  16. so you kinda see yourself in Nihilus?
  17. you know all this.. what do you want to chat about?
  18. but then again what harm was she really doing? .. she was trying to train The Exile into a force the Sith could not stop - one that would be openminded to all sides and all advantages (while, I'll admit, playing him to fulfill her own plans) .. in a war with no front and a hidden enemy - where every decision have dire consequences - you have to sacrifice your altruism..
  19. again, they were trying to question the duality of SW .. simply because you choose a title like Darth, or use dark side abilities, it doesn't make you evil .. nor are you good simply because you follow a code and constrain your emotions! it's more than words and thoughts that makes a person moral and good - it's actions and decisions..
  20. I disagree.. they were trying to question the duality of the SW universe.. which was not only bold it was also quite cool .. and she claims on several occasions that perhaps Revan was not as bad as percieved .. perhaps he simply fufilled a role - a necessary evil - to propel events on a much larger scale.. and ultimately to protect the universe from a real threat! The true Sith .. and Traya was simply a tired of Lady - tired of being ridiculed and questioned.. tired of her weakness (the dependecy of The Force).. so she tried to destroy it, to free herself.. not evil - just sad..
  21. Revan is a potential bad guy .. since you had the choice wether or not s/he was bad or good.. Traya wasn't really a true Sith and I don't count her as a real villain.. and Vader turned good guy in the end.. and all the others are losers not worthy of mention.. except perhaps Sidious and Nihilus - but he was still a pushover.. so I'll take The Emperor.. oh and I believe it was Tyranus (Count Dooku)
  22. sure .. what do you want to chat about?
  23. K2 is pretty straight forward.. you just have to get used to talking to alot of people..
  24. try handling 90 of them and we'll have a chat about annoyance..
