RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS - VISUAL NOVELS ALLOWED
injurai replied to Blarghagh's topic in Computer and Console
Lootboxes are so strange to me. I guess it's hard to pass up money on the table, but I can't wait until the fad has drastically died down. -
They are against libraries because people keep confusing them with librarians.

Norman Finkelstein often talks about the concept of US and Mexico uniting to become one nation. Citing that we stole a large chunk of their nation, that large percentages of the southern populations are Latino and Hispanic, and further that our economies are intricately connected. Evidence being our reliance on their migrants, and how tons of money is sent back to Mexico annually. It's an interesting prospect, but one that I think is ultimately doomed.

I think a good point can be made that a lot of today's diversity of media is a result of decades of creative exploration and risk taking. The market is far more open to creative endeavors, and the barrier to entry is much smaller. Just about anyone can put together a pilot that explores something new. The question these days is often whether there is room in the market. Cash flows are the great limiter. It's only really the max budget films that are truly risk adverse. Plenty of smaller studios get by by counting on 1 in every 10 productions to massively oversell expectations. A24 is a good example of a studio that does this. Of course risk is often mitigated by only bringing on the most promising film students that come out of the academys, but that is a whole other conversation.

Studios for some reason don't like taking risks on original material that center's around female protagonists. Instead they are given the left-overs in the form of rehashes, and marketing campaigns drum up drama to convince people that you need to lap up the output to affirm your progressive stance. People are allowed to enjoy them, but it's crazy how much those asking for much more get shouted down as somehow guarding secretly held biases. The studio heads are the one's hiding behind their low effort remakes. We need more films like Annihilation or Lady Bird. Mad Max is a great example of introducing a female centerpiece to a story without stooping to gender-swaps.

He's a real piece of **** but that doesn't mean he deserved to die. The kid that shot him is basically boasting about it all and dropping huge hints all over social media about it. What a ****ing dumb-ass.

Templar, she's got that illuminati lizard blood.

I've been asking the same thing about America's political forums, but they just won't reboot them... *shrugs*

The arrangement is the same, but the timbre and instrumentations are different. As far as covers go, I really like it.

I almost mentioned Arca myself, same thing there. But I'm not the type of person to dismiss a legitimate creative prowess and talent just because it misses some mark by my own interests. As far as saccharine pop, I found myself really enjoying the PC Music output around the same time as that early Sophie stuff was coming out.

I've enjoyed her releases on Numbers. I've only listened to the albums singles, of which I liked Faceshopping the most. If I'm being honest, it's hard for me to connect with a song like Ponyboy thematically speaking. No doubt her work is groundbreaking.

edit: thought this was politics... -
If only produce shacks at every 10th intersection would be subsidized instead. The inability to find healthy fast food given the sophistication of the global supply chain is depressing.

China now imposing $50 Billion in tariffs against the US. Problem is the US has more tariffs imposed against it than the recipient nations. It's a 1-to-many relation on our end. We are fighting a trade war on multiple fronts. Unless the State does some massive trillion dollar injection to re-kickstart manufacturing industry in the US, then it's all for naught. The US is a service industry nation. I don't see the republican's launching any such endeavor, if anything it would be the democrat hawks pushing for DOD spending, but more realistically the dems would just reopen trade.

Here comes the trade wars...

First MIDI game right? -
What's awesome is there are real urinals that make games out of pissing at targets. Never found one in the wild myself though.

K... but Maia might be portrayed as an autonomous agent with personal convictions and a sense of her surroundings. She might not want to break up someone's relation. That's her action. I don't see this in any way as assuming monogamy, but even if it was, society is overwhelmingly monogamous. Yes people like to sleep around, but nobody want's their partner to do so. Society overwhelming favors treating people how they want to be treated, and while people object to monogamy for the political sound-bite almost nobody actually behaves that way. So even if it was assumed, it would be somewhat justified. It's further perfectly okay to write characters who uphold that standard and aren't simply fantasy husks that are shaped at the player's discretion.

Oh how I wish Obsidian will do an isometric cyberpunk game next.
injurai replied to beatspores's topic in Obsidian General
The world has been high and dry for cyberpunk, but I'd hope Obsidian would catch drift of the brewing storm and know the tide that is coming in. Though I welcome diversity of cyberpunk games so I'm not worried if it is. It's apparently Tim Cain's and Leonard Boyarsky's "dream game." I guess people can have multiple dreams and dream about different aspects of a game, beyond just setting. For all I know though they had there vision set long before knowing when they'd get to make it and the other trends. I just can't shake the thought though that this won't be cyberpunk. I'm expecting cowboy space opera or urban fantasy and other worldly realms. Interested to find out certainly.
