  1. He sighed a ton. Did not seem to have his heart in it.
  2. Oh no Sony... what is you doing? This format is not good. Just gonna let Microsoft steal your immaculate down to brass tax format? This better payoff. If they are buying out ESPN I'll understand the format, otherwise... format restored?
  3. How about democrats lean into "diversity of empirical measure" in order to promote a middle-class cash flow between urban and rural regions of the country. Oh wait, because the democrats are a facade for an elite class and they want their own party spinning their wheels.
  4. Assassin's Creed Odyssey has won me over, I'm a sucker for classical Greece. Also... Shooting the spit with So-crates!

  6. K, but the gameplay looks like it's the same exact "video game lite but it's complete w/ friends" sort of experience that everything is turning into. So yea, there are reasons for people to not be excited.
  7. The building aspect of FO76 is basically Fortnight. Their intentions are clear.
  8. Omg look at the opening of this Ubi conf, those colors! See what I mean!!! It's the style cycle. Early 90's is back. And soon too will Lisa Frank. Give it another 5 years and the best parts of the 90s will finally kick in. Maybe Cyberpunk 2080 will thematically land for me.
  9. I was thoroughly unimpressed. Tomb Raider is more Uncharted if you're looking for that kind of thing. Maybe we'll see that new Avenger's game at Sony.
  10. Well, I loved Spider-Man and Infinity War. So maybe Ragnarok will surprise me.
  11. Square Enix Summary Shadow of the Tomb Raider FFXIV: Under The Moonlight FFXIV Online X Monster Hunter: World The Adventures of Captain Spirit Dragon Quest XI Babalon's Fall Nier: Automata - Become as Gods Edition Octopath Traveler for Switch Just Cause 4 The Quiet Man Kingdom Hearts III
  12. Marketing wise, CDPR wants to cast a wide net. We also already got a grittier Deus Ex, and their "mechanical apartheid" did not play well to critics. This era is all about popping color and feeling punk rather than being punk. It's why we have Sunset Overdrive, Splatoon, & Fortnight. Even Rage 2 which is brutalist dips into the current vogue color palettes. This is what sells and appeals at the moment. Iwinski is probably keeping some of the tonally harsher stuff hidden away. We at least got this one scene from the trailer that is promising.
  13. Expiration dates, allergy warnings, temp requirements. That's the right to be informed. The freedom to act as an informed agent. Society has learned that shoddy ventures basically steal from their clients at expense of their health and by preying on their expectations. I.e. circumventing informed consent of a transaction. Sure people generally know what they are getting with a child's lemonade stand, I don't think a local government is going to make people jump through crazy loops for such a thing. It's a good parent/child project to take the requisite preparations. Though inviting someone onto your private property and having them "split the cost" of the expense for the "dining." Should not need approval. It's hardly a business at that point.
  14. No wonder, it's the Gibson style of cyberpunk that I'm in love with, no wonder I'm having second thoughts on the tone.
  15. I don't care as much about retelling the mythos, it's more it's far removed from the naturalist world of the source material. So it ends up feeling like a bunch of lifted names and homages. Like Napolean trying to reinvoke Rome and failing. The whole time I feel like I'm watching a wealthy family who was told lies about destiny trying to "play-act" their "destiny" to be reality whenever I see Marvel's Thor. The logic that motivated the source characters doesn't translate, so when they do things that are supposed to be in character it feels like a sham. MCU's Thor is especially bad because it not only invokes the original source, but also the comics, toss in the MCU's own material and your left with something that feels like a facade. At least Loki's connecting to the greater MCU world through the tesseract supplied a modicum of coherence, and Thor's character tends to play better when around the Avengers. Just those first two solo films are quite the travesty.
  16. You mean Square, Sony is the last one tonight (9pm Eastern)
  17. I love norse mythology, but I've never been a big fan of Marvel's take. It's so sterile to me. Still need to see Ragnarak, maybe I'll catch it here soon since it's on Netflix now.
  18. I have to say, Todd Howard has gotten really good at delivering conferences. It always felt like there was just a little something extra around the corner, whether a game feature or a new reveal. The first have of that conference was a real tonal slog, I wasn't going to bemoan the appreciation for staff sprinkled throughout, but it was certainly not a well oiled press briefing. Until Howard turned up.
  19. They won't be new engines, they will either be the Creation(Gambryo updated) or idTech engines, compiled to target the new hardware. You don't need to understand the specifics of next-gen hardware to prepare writing code for it, the code describes the generalized mathematics and structure of everything and is optimized around hardware oblivious algorithms for the most part. They'll rely on the compilers provided in the kits to emit the right machine code. Rendering techniques don't really change all that much, mostly new layers of shaders are added over time to refine graphics. Rendering is definitely not the new part to Fallout 76, plus the whole map isn't loaded into either game all the time. It's streamed from disc in subsections. If anything 76 got a lot of work to it's networking code.
  20. What are you one about? They were canned teasers. If TES6 and Starfield are still on the creation engine, I swear I will blow a gasket. idTech7 better be driving those games to the sky's limits. I hope that Fallout 76 and TES: Blades are basically Bethesda trying to squeeze out as much money off of their old outdated productions pipelines before they adopt id's technology. I can't believe that Zeni aquired some of the best engine designer's in the business not to leverage it across all their studios. I bet Rage 2 is being made just to confirm that idTech operates well in open world environments.

  22. If you are familiar with the source material it has a lot of clues as to what they could include in-universe. It both failed to meet expectations and surprised me at the same time. Way more 80's than I was expecting. I thought some of the 90's and beyond cyberpunk influences would be in there. Despite it telling you how impoverished the people are, everyone seemed to be doing pretty well off. It reminds me left-wing radicals that bitch about everything who drop tons of money on tattoos, booze, video games and clothing all the time. All the augmented tech has got to be more expensive that tattoos. I hope the game has more of a cynical tone against the inhabitants of the city, instead it's feeling too much like a yuppie-playground of the future. All those skyscrapers are probably filled with medical scientists and engineers who are paying for all these young people to **** around in the under-city doped up on designer drugs and high-tech augmentation. But... I feel this game will vindicate that demographic instead of turning them into the villainous backdrop that they should be cast as. I just want to see gameplay though.
  23. My takeaways: This was Microsoft's best conference, and their focus on delivering games and investing in their 1st party offerings is a long time coming. Still... it was the 3rd party offerings that I'm walking away interested in. Sekiro -- Solid looking offering from From. Want to see a typical gameplay session outside of a trailer. Honestly more interested to see the 2 other From projects. Fallout 76 -- Surprised that this is a full FO game, even more so that it's at an even larger scale. A prequel is cool, still it's more of the same. Forza Horizon 4 -- Great looking tech, looks to be one of the best racing games. Sadly the Gran Turismo has waned. Dying Light 2 -- Seems like a solid game with well integrated mechanics. The Day/Night cycle will be highly compelling. Cyberpunk 2077 -- Amazing tone and scope. A bit less gritty than I imagined, but hopefully the bleak side is yet to come. That car is radical. Need to see gameplay now. Forza was probably the best showing, 2077 is the game I'm most interested in seeing more from.
  24. Gears Tactics Gears of War 5 Cyberpunk 2077 Also mentioned, but I forgot where in the conference, something about Microsoft AI researching better game AI for their studios. That they're making the largest investments they ever have in their studios (guess this figure doesn't include the initial investment to start Xbox which they've never recouped), and that they are busy working on the next Xbox Console (I'm reading elsewhere it's project code is "Scarlet".)
