Yeah, scarcity is definitely a problem that will happen either way. The goal is to maximize output of care, preventative care, and research. The other side of the medical industry, is you need to staff it. Which means there is the entire industry of just training and raising doctors. Well, that needs to be funded and it's mostly done through the loaning of credit. The incentive is that your directed to a field where you will be generating enough value to payback what you sucked out of the system getting there. To improve medical coverage we have to grow the portion of people that fill out the industry, and that is largely dependent on investing in people and growing a culture that values a debt based system. Unfortunately the very people who expect universal care are the very same people that are skeptical about our debt economy. People don't initially know how to create the things they want or need the most, so you have to incentive them on the path that will lead them to the productive ends. The issue is that the more leveraged a population becomes to the state, the more suspicious they become of the people who have payed off their debts and are now solvent. But we need those experts who have gone through the whole industry to take their profits and invest in ventures to contribute back to their industries. If the only payer is the state, there will be less motivation to take risk, meaning the budding yet-to-be-formed ventures will be squandered. It amazes me how people are less interested in solving which regulations are the right ones, and more committed to a single non-hybridized system as an ideal.

Considering that Singapore, Switzerland, South Korea, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Israel, Finland, Japan, Luxembourg, Norway and Belgium all have universal health care and use about same amount per capita to medical research than USA I would say that it is just what people believe. Your talking about proportional spending per capita? As in compared to the dollar or the local currency? Then even if they are likes, there is the question of what is being bought with that money. Bureaucracy and defensive institutional spending is a huge waste of money, especially in a stagnated market. Create markets for new medical research, but the delivery and applied institutions would get by much better if redundancy was removed and the cost of running intermediaries was cut out.

No, you're right. That's what I was trying to get at. I just think scifi-isos tends to devolve into something all too lackluster. Too often it's all just laser beams and technology that makes war easier. I want the defenses of the future to be better than the weapons. I want to work for the victories and earn them, not just animations that are simulacrum of combat or some flash of particle effects. I think I tend to prefer scifi when it's done like Deus Ex, Dishonored, or Half-life. Slightly more grounded, tactical. But those aren't party-based. I think a party-based first person game might be slightly too head-ache inducing, which is why I'm wondering if it could work in a 3rd person game with all the most modern advanced action draping of those genres. Where you might have direct action control of a single player at any given moment. Where you can both play the actions, and queue them for any party member. Sort of like FF12/15, but instead of just queuing actions, its was more traditional action combat. Then maybe you'd pause, issue party commands, or simply switch party members. I guess it would be highly AI centric, but you know... I haven't seen a really good crack at a party AI system for a while. I'm sure all of combat could be optimized around the required features so the AI problems are solvable. Maybe smaller more intimate battles, that require planning, combo setups etc. It's the difference between Kotor and Mass Effect, though ME is still rather **** as a shooter. I'd want the game as such where you would be encourage to setup combos and play the party, not just a single character. As far as which action games to draw on, I'm just trying to think what the most modern well realized examples are. What if God of War, Bloodborne, and FFXV had a baby for melee, and if MGS5 and DXHR had a baby for guns or something. Maybe such a thing would be too ambitious, but reclaiming a more tactical shooter mixed with top notch melee is probably what the space rpg genre needs. Doing sort of the opposite of what 2077 is trying to do with rpgs, where they take the FPS and immersive sim genre and merge them into an open world rpg. But instead you'd take the best action-rpg/hack-n-slash/tactical-espionage-action and break that out into a party system where combat becomes skirmishes and arena battles.

Same. Which is why I really want Obsidian to make something that is a blend between Dune and Cowboy Bebop. Basically something where energy shields are okay, but the rest is metal slugs, swords (possible with some electric charge.) Heavily beholden to most real physics but with some solutions for space-travel and life-support. Not sure if it should be a party-based RTwP game, or a 3D game. I suppose it could be first-person, though I almost feel it would be better as some sort of 3rd person party-based action-adventure rpg. Maybe like the new God of War, but with a full-party. A game that only goes over the shoulder to aim, but is otherwise perfectly setup for energy swords and other sorts of space-melee. Hopefully keeping RTwP though and ability to switch between party-members.

If greenlight never existed, I think the gems would have fought their way through the prior-existing vetting process. What greenlight was was a poorly sourced voting system based on whatever people managed to project their product as.

How many hours into Octopath are you? It seems like one of those rpgs where you can just get lost in time, as opposed to feeling the game slog. I need a game that I can just pick up and chip away at at a comfortable pace. The other game I really want a switch for is the Banner Saga Trilogy. I've never played one of those games, but it looks awesome.

AMD were the ones pushing the 5GHz before that trend broke, if they are better positioned to play at the thermal edge all ontop of their recent fab/arch gains, then yeah Intel should fear. Still I think Intel has the prototypes to win, just their production pipeline has probably been caught a bit behind where they otherwise need to be.
