I wonder how many of those low representations are just foreigners. -

http://www.starwars.com/news/rian-johnson-writer-director-of-star-wars-the-last-jedi-to-create-all-new-star-wars-trilogy They aren't giving Episode IX to Rian because they are giving him an entire trilogy! Holy Christ! Someone hold me. -

B E E F Y always and forever! I'm happy to see a lot of interest in post-game content. It's neat when games allow you to tour back around the world you just saved and to see the how places and people are doing as a result of the player's efforts. As sort of an optional epilogue for the player. I'm curious what all this "rogue-lite" concept entails. -
Obsidian teasing about a new project on Twitter

I knew they had some ancillary thing that I wasn't sure about, and I was intentionally not counting the pathfinder team as it seemed to dwindle down to just a small content team. It's development and engineering phase had largely already wrapped up. -
@FlintlockJazz I totally agree with you. Reading that made me thing of a distinction between freedom and choice. Sometimes in games it's great to limit freedom, but maintain a high degree of choice. Say you go down into a dungeon and you're streamlined through content. Maybe given a few opportunities to explore a level in whatever order. But then you encounter something, and within that encounter you are given choices. It's that ability to choose and see how a situation plays out that is so rewarding. Getting to have you're own voice in the world, and to come up against another voice that has it's own way of thinking. Freedom can wax and wane, but player choice is a constant must that should be ever present.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS - 'NON-FAKE-NEWS EDITION'

Hayter is just such an iconic voice. I liked Sutherland a lot and really never had a huge objection other than Hayter found out when we did. He seemed hurt. In hindsight having an A-lister didn't seem to bring much to the game, it seemed to bring more to Kojima's dev experience. But getting practice with big actors seem worthwhile for him since his next game, Death Stranding, is going to feature numerous A-listers. I think things are different when a character you see has their actor/voice actor replaced. Audio is a huge part in establishing continuity within a series, often it's the part that is most worthwhile preserving. Just look at the new Star Wars and Jurassic Park titles. They use old scores gently and delicately to bridge themes. -

I wished it's another RTwP and isometric game? Well my wish is basically close to 0 hope. I'm not sure exactly how large Obs is, and how many teams they are currently running. But at least 3 I believe, with some other small units. Deadfire and Tyranny team share some engine and tooling programmer, but otherwise seem mostly distinct. Deadfire team is tied up until sometime into late Q1 early Q2 of next year. Tyranny team seems to have freed up, it's possible they are continuing with Tyranny or on another game in the infinity-like style. The Cainarsky team probably grows over time as it moves through development stages, I doubt they'd gut the Pillars team for it, but the Tyranny team probably. The Pathfinder team seems small and mostly in a support role, not so much in full dev mode so I'm not really counting it. I predict Josh and PoE team will do a 3rd and final game, before giving the IP to another team to explore other ideas in the world of Eora. I also imagine the Tyranny team eventually making another infinity-like IP down the road even if they are pulled apart to work on the Cainarsky title. All of this arm chair analysis, but I think the team distributions has been made somewhat transparent and I'm pretty confident that there will be a 3rd pillars. Josh has mentioned it in theory and Feargus has mentioned it practice. Plus, getting that 3rd entry like the original BG/IWDs/FO never managed I think will be a worthy milestone to pursue, then they can feel free to explore new projects. Maybe Josh will get his historical rpg after that! -
Seems like he's sort of latching onto sounds that circumambulates new wave. You should play this for him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOg5VxrRTi0

So excited for this, looks even better than I was imagining. Probably comes in second after Phantom Thread for my most anticipated movie. (Ignoring SW) -
Christ, that's a massive piece of art. Who writes a 4 hour album? I remember Iglooghost from Chinese Nu Yr, hadn't checked out any more since. Both of these works are pretty cool. Now Clark, that guy is a class act.

I get Abe Sapien art film out of it. -
I think Obama is staying away because if he said anything that wasn't challenging the dems, it would be construed as spin narrative against the conservatives. They'd drag his word through the mud again. Obama wants his legacy to remain in his campaign when he commanded, now that his power has passed it doesn't make sense for him to way in. It'd be consolation chirps at that point, unbecoming of his former gravity. What Obama wants is his legacy to remain encapsulated so that it can be revived and continued the next time a democrat is in office. It's the Dems in congress's job after all to challenge or strike bipartisan with the GOP.

Sounds like a fair deal, also far better then the original demands for royalties that some of the big VAs were putting forward. -
I don't think the end all be all in games is freedom, though it's extremely important to offer certain degrees of freedom. Often times linear sections work really well if they ask the player to rise to the occasion. Either on the grounds of developing a skill, learning the rules of an engagement, or to solute a puzzle. Sometimes it's nice to have many simultaneous choices of linear engagements, perhaps partially ordered. Where each one forces the player to understand what is being set forth for them. Other times it's nice to have choice removed from what engagement to pick, but your solution can be wide and varied. Sometimes the two forms play off each other and can parameterize the setup of each scenario. Both linear/open sequences and free/obligatory engagements can suffer from pacing issues if the player is only being given one mode of interaction. For Deadfire I think we can all agree we want the scales to swing towards open and free, but I think we'd all agree that the illusion within a sequence can be more than enough, especially if it gives us back pacing.

Obsidian teasing about a new project on Twitter

For whatever reason I feel like it's going to be Gothic or Lovecraftian in theme. I sort of think it's whatever Obsidian's answer to V:TM-B before paradox acquired White Wolf. I'm not assuming Obsidian has that license locked down, in fact I'm assuming it's more of a passion project to see a long desired project come to fruition. Course I could be totally wrong on the theme. All we know is that it's 3D on the Unreal engine. It could be 3rd person or 1st person, though I am inclined to lean towards the later. Maybe it's dual camera. -
Except people are privy to newspeak, double talk, spin and euphemism.

They were testing multiple games, of which included the top town games. But apparently one of the screens had the new game on it, and he missed it. -

World Eater is quite the album. Are you into the world of electronic Algroth? I should really start posting more underground electronic stuff in here, since that's my main musical forte.

Crazy good song, how does a 3 year old get into something like this?

It's impressive how consistent Marvel is in so far as blockbusters go. Basically spring summer and fall I can now count on having a blockbuster flick to enjoy. DC still hasn't convinced me their movies are worth seeing in theater. -

Alpha looks like that type of movie that get's sold in a science museum theater for being somewhat related to science, but ultimately a cheap thrill for the masses.
