Healthcare in America
Right, so have we finally established that the only people opposed to universal healthcare in America are those like Gfted who are happy to see others suffer as long as they pay less taxes?

Why the feck would they get minimum wage?!

They might be the same person. Illuminator's post do have a trace of the same facetiousness about them.- Scramjets
http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/south-a...3-1225843996056 Pretty cool. No doubt military uses will come first, but still, I can dig a 2 or 3 hour flight from Sydney to London (you'd be lucky to do it in 24 hours with current flights). EDIT: I'm curious as to what a scramjet plane would look like. Would it be a plane that flew up from departure via rockets into LEO and then dived to its destination at Mach 6 or so via scramjet? Haha, visiting space to get to your destination on Earth.- Paying to play with girls
See what I do is find a hot gamer chick and play next to her. So much sexier.- Healthcare in America
I don't think Mexico has government health care. There is an option. Nope, sorry. Mexico has universal healthcare (although a different system). When we say America is the only Western country without universal healthcare, we aren't exaggerating. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_health_care http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_care_i...h_care_delivery It does sound like a good idea... Actually, America has the most poorly mismanaged and wasteful military out of the countries which comprise 90% of the world's defence spending, monetarily speaking. I guess I have to mention that Australia has the second worst military economic management of those top 90% of countries. A massive cost-analysis and waste cutback plan is now in the works here in response to the study, but I'm not sure how America responded to it.- Ahmadinejad's stance on 9/11
Oh. I see. Pardon me for ever doubting you.- Roskilde Festival 2010
I, um. Um, I, well... I'm going to New Zealand instead sorry. It'll save me a couple of thousands dollars (I'm estimating about $3,000 or $4,000, mostly airfare, but also things in New Zealand are cheaper) and I can stay in New Zealand for as long as I like. Maybe next year! If I book flight tickets many months in advance they could end up being like half the price I think. Sorry guys.- Mohammed Descendents Sue
OK Asol, I grant you that paper/site is a load of sensationalistic crap (but hey, what else do you expect from Mr. Murdoch?)- Healthcare in America
Ah, I see, you think Im Republican and therefore object for that reason. Thats not the case, I hate stupid ideas no matter who generates them. And fyi, 100% of the Republicas voted against this bill. 100% of the Republicans voted against the bill because a) it was healthcare (not because of spending - they're quite happy to spend BIG, in fact history indicates more so than Democrats), b) it was a Democrat bill. As far as I know that's how the opposition works in every single democratic government: They vote against whatever the government wants, and they vote as a bloc on any issue they deem fundamental. Correction: Every single democratic country with a 2 party government. But let's not get into the problems with America's political system in this thread.- Healthcare in America
Its like you and Killian share a brain or something. For the thousanth time, nobody withers and dies due to lack of healthcare. It is illegal to refuse healthcare to anyone who shows up at any public hospital in the country. What people want to avoid is the bill for those services. "Pay for resources I consumed!?!? F-that! Someone else should pay it for me! IM ENTITLED!" Oh, sorry, so if you have MONEY you won't wither and die under your scheme. Sorry, my mistake. Wait, no, that's pretty much what we agreed on earlier, Gfted.- Healthcare in America

Whatever, thats their problem, not mine. OK, what would you do for all the people not currently covered by insurance because they're too poor? EDIT: Sorry, I misread. You don't want to do anything for the poor. You're happy for them to wither and die as long as you don't get taxed more. My bad.- Ben there, Dan that
BTW I own this game (haven't played) but I've been less than enthralled by some of the highly-rated games (including adventure) I've purchased on Steam so far. Examples: Goo, Machinarium. I purchased Machinarium and Ben There, Dan That thinking "Oh, The Longest Journey was an adventure, adventure games must be awesome"...- Ben there, Dan that
Sorry, I meant apart from Volo, since it may lift his spirits and lead to some sort of replosion. Volourn's head a splode- Healthcare in America
The only valid argument to come out of the Republican side during this whole schamoozle. The problem is the Republicans are 50% to blame. WHAT TO DO. The poor should wither and die. YAY USA! Also, you spelt privilege incorrectly.- Ahmadinejad's stance on 9/11
Th Illuminator often posts links to spoof and satires sites to back up his arguments. The problem is, rather than being a comedian or troll, I think he actually just reads the first paragraph or sentence of these sites, thinks "yeeeeah ****ing Americans, ****ing out to kill us Islams, jihad!!!" and posts the link. The thread he made about the NASA moon landing being faked and linking to a conspiracy site which was semi-convincing at first then devolved into pictures of hilariously photoshopped aliens springs to mind.- Healthcare in America

Hahaha I can guarantee you this **** won't pass Australia's legal system (even if it does have to go to the High Court). Eh, disregard that; they're suing in Britain, they might win. I'm concerned for the Motherland. Maybe a good dose of right-wing government would help.- What did you eat today?

Yes and yes!- Healthcare in America
Such a sad, sad, day. Now you still don't have proper healthcare, but you're slightly closer to having a system as effective as every other Western country's. Woe is you.- Healthcare in America
Democrats: "We need health care reform" Republicans: "Liberal fascists! Give us a majority and we'll do it better" Democrats: "Done, you have majority of both houses" 12 years later, health care is irrefutably worse in every respect for every single person in the United States Democrats: "We need health care reform" Republicans: "Liberal fascists! Americans are tired of partisan politics!" Democrats: "OK, let's compromise" Republicans: "OK, get rid of half your ideas" Democrats: "Done" Republicans: "Too liberal, get rid of half your ideas" Democrats: "Done" Republicans: "Too liberal, get rid of half your ideas" Democrats: "Done" Republicans: "Too liberal, get rid of half your ideas" Democrats: "Done" Republicans: "Too liberal, get rid of half your ideas" Democrats: "Done. Time to end debate" Republicans: "Too liberal, we need more debate, we will filibuster to prevent you from voting" Democrats: "OK, we'll vote--sorry guys, debate is ended. It's time to vote on the bill" Republicans: "Too liberal, we vote no" Democrats: "OK, it passed anyway--sorry guys." One month later Republicans: "Wait--wait, OK, we have less of a minority now so we can filibuster forever." Democrats: "Sorry, the bill already passed, we need it to pass the House now" Republicans: "But we have enough to filibuster" Democrats: "Sorry, the bill already passed, we need it to pass the House now" Republicans: "Liberal fascists! You haven't listened to our ideas! You've shut us out of this whole process!" Democrats: "Sorry, show us your proposal" Republicans: "Smaller government" Democrats: "That's not very specific" Republicans: "OK, here's our detailed proposal--It's our common-sense ideas we spent 12 years not enacting" Democrats: "OK, we'll add a bunch more of your ideas" Republicans: "Liberal fascists! You included all these back-room deals" Democrats: "OK, we'll get rid of the back-room deals" Republicans: "Liberal fascists! You're using obscure procedural tricks to eliminate the back-room deals!" Democrats: "No, we're using reconciliation, which both parties have used dozens of times for much larger bills" Republicans: "Liberal fascists! You're pressuring Congressmen to vote for your bill! Scandal!" Democrats: "It's called 'whipping', it's been done since 1789" Republicans: "Liberal fascists! Can't you see the American people don't want this?" Democrats: "This bill is mildly unpopular (40-50%), doing nothing (your proposal) is extraordinarily unpopular (4-6%)" Republicans: "We need to start over! We need to start over!" Democrats: "We should really consider voting--" Republicans: "Liberal fascists! Start over! Clean slate! Common-sense! America!"
