  1. I don't get it. Why the hell would you inject yourself with deadly nightshade? That **** is one of the few true hallucinogens out there, and the dose-response curve is amazingly steep. Is this for heart attacks or something?
  2. But seriously guys, I'm screwing a gamer chick. It's awesome. Give me high fives.
  3. OK, get over the fact that it was made by some Japs and pretend it was Yanks. Still acceptable to you now? Assuming you think it's acceptable - I might be miscomprehending.
  4. I really adore this song: The Flaming Lips are amazing to write programmes to, especially if you're speeding.
  5. Programming is better than your mum, Pop. And I'm sure you know how good she is.
  6. I think it's pretty obvious what the socialist stance on conscription is: the workers get sent off by the rich and the aristocracy to die for a war that's fought to fuel commercial interests. I'm sure he'd put it more... eloquently.
  7. The best advice I can give people new to The Flaming Lips is start with Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. The album actually flows really well, too - only a single song has that jarring quality TrueNeutral spoke of, IMHO - and you'll know it when you get to it.
  8. We've have been there, done that. You'd have to be some kind of messiah to be able to convince Australians to ever accept conscription again.
  9. I know a girl who thinks of ghosts She'll make ya breakfast She'll make ya toast She don't use butter She don't use cheese She don't use jelly Or any of these She uses vaaaaaseline
  10. Here's a piece from what is probably Australia's biggest right-leaning newspaper (a Murdoch entity of course) on the matter (Tony Abbott is the current leader of the opposition). It's disappointingly brief in its analysis of the root causes of the political divide between the US and the West: http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/opini...o-1225844454916
  11. Potato gems and a bowl of raw chick peas. Man I need to eat better.
  12. The Flaming Lips are so good. Some of their albums/songs are whack but they have so much amazing content it doesn't matter - see Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, At War With the Mystics, Clouds Taste Metallic, and Transmissions from the Satellite Heart. Anyway, does anybody know of any other music like theirs?
  13. i was just about to say that. as i recall, the witcher 1 had OK voice acting. Uhhh really? I thought it was pretty poor quality, even for an indie game, when I played the first 10 minutes of it. Will play the game fully when I get a better comp, but I can't see voice acting being one of its positive points.
  14. Yahztee is still a real game reviewer. He's unique, and he's certainly not a good single source for deciding whether to play a game, but he makes a lot of poignant points other reviewers fail to grasp or are too scared to touch on (****ing Oblivion)
  15. A) You'll excuse me if I ignore your personal anecdote. The writings of somebody like Enoch on what it is like to work in the public sector are eminently more interesting because his stance is reasoned and tempered without desire to push some sort of agenda. B) Where is your proof of that grand claim? The basis for making such a claim would seem to stem from your personal lack of faith in government rather than be a reason for it.
  16. You... often skip the Enlightenment? Um...
  17. It would also be wrong, making it a poor choice of argumentum ad hominem.
  18. http://answers.yahoo.com/my/qa/index;_ylt=...tp=2&tnu=29 Scroll through his questions. They're gold, as are the responses.
  19. Uprecedented? They've been doing it since FDR. Almost the entire Federal government is unconstitutional by now. And yet if we ran strictly by the constitution, we'd fall apart, go figure, we need to change things and expand things simply to exist as a single entity/nation. Then there is no law, you have no rights, and the government can do whatever the hell it likes to you. In theory, perhaps. In practice, no.
  20. Indeed. The world has far more to fear from China than Cuba.
  21. That's a bit harsh, I think. The truth is harsh. People who honestly believe that god created the world and all the animals exactly how they are and nothing in the natural world changes by means of evolution have no right to be on a board of education. Ever. In order to have that belief, you have to actively disregard a *very* large chunk of well-established scientific knowledge. Damn straight. It sickens me that 200 years after Darwin there are still pockets of the apparently 'civilised' world where idiocracy is the primary means of governing a policy-making body.
  22. Mr Rudd, you are a stain on Australia.
