Exactly this. Best quote of this thread.

There is one simple reason Google Plus has already won: Google has integrated (or is in the process of integrating) it into every other product they deliver. So if it takes 10 years for Google Plus to take off, that doesn't matter - Google can afford to wait. It will soon be the case that EVERY time you search you'll also see how many new notifications you have on Google Plus in the top right corner of the screen. That's a pretty difficult thing to forget about or not notice. Also keep in mind that Google Plus is still in beta and business pages come out at the start of next month. A lot of things are still changing on it.

Because we say so Never mind that they are not a uniform faction and led by former military personel, most likely looking to replace the current regime with a new, similar one, just with different names on the business cards. To hold this belief is essentially denying history.

Also, looks like the good guys have won. The rebels control 95% of Tripoli, there was an uprising there by residents in the last 24 hours, and Gaddafi's closest allies (including his vile son Seif) have been arrested. Gaddafi is sending out his agents to bomb Western embassies and night clubs again apparently, though, as he bombed the German nightclub in the 1990's (80's) and killed lots of dancers. The Tunisians have already stopped one of his terror attacks planned on an embassy today.

Nothing, let the rebellion get crushed (or not inspire it in the first place). Wait for the inevitable transition of one of his sons to power, which are from what I see far more inclined towards the west. And without the burden of previous bad relations. I don't see any great loss for the west there, the oil would have flowed regardless. And the Libyan people would have been much better off, presumably. You disgust me yet again.

News Int. Inc. hack phone of missing (dead girl)
Humodour replied to Walsingham's topic in Way Off-Topic
Exactly. The corporate exits only to further its own interest and if need be at the expense of everyone else. A businessman's only allegiance is money, he cares nothing for "the flag", the "common good", and values unless they are an impediment to increasing his wealth in which case he will tread all over them without thinking twice. Politicians are like that too, but they are forced to play a role and they have to do a bare minimum at least for the sake of the next elections. A capitalist doesn't. This is not universally true and so I think it is more incorrect than it is correct. Fundamentally politicians and businessman are people. And to people there are often more powerful things than money and power. The more civilised, safe, and developed a society becomes, the more people's actions are informed by things other than money and power. I think your perception of capitalism is warped by the under-developed nature of the country you live in - and in that specific case your arguments might actually be correct because capitalism maybe isn't being informed by empathy there. The answer to that would be more government regulation (but not so much that it is essentially central planning) until your society reaches a point of more stability and prosperity. What's wrong with pornography made with full and informed consent between two adults? What a silly thing of you to say. -
I think they should introduce some new events for the London Olympics next year. Such as the 'petrol bomb throw', the '200m stolen goods relay' and the 'break in and loot foot locker time trial'. England are gold medal favourites for all of these events.

Lame. Don't leave me! I would be all condoling and sad and stuff but frankly I bet you're getting (or are going to get) quite enough of that in real life and would like a break. I think you're pretty awesome tarna and the fight's not over yet. They can do some amazing things in medicine these days (developments in the past 10 years alone have been astounding). I read an interesting report a few years back that linked optimism with increased cancer survival rates. Just a thought.

Dear England, Now who's full of convicts? Yours sincerely, Australia

Shame most Republicans are stupid. (Hey, I said most! Which means there are still plenty who aren't. So if you're offended, just pretend you're one of the ones who isn't stupid.)

Another option is Moodle, Hurlshot. Tangentially related, I have started using Google Calendar instead of a physical calendar. It's pretty sweet.

Don't listen to these goons. You're a man. So if for some reason it doesn't work out you can always man the f*** up and get over the disappointment. *ducks hurled objects* Damn straight! Except for maybe the man part. I know plenty of girls who would give me the same advice. You gotta try these things and then move on if they don't work. No point sitting around moping about what ifs. P.S. thanks to Hurlshot and anyone else for the support/advice.

Worth buying. Cool settings (something like 7 different planets). A bit grindy but I get the feeling that's a given with the JRPG style.

Speaking of nucleobases, some dudes recently made E. coli use an artificial nucleobase instead of a natural one (via a process called forced evolution). Considering there are only 4 nucleobases used in DNA and RNA, and the difference between RNA and DNA (among other things) is just one nucleobase, that's a pretty ****ing amazing feat. The kind of feat nature has only accomplished once before. If there are any creationists left on this board, feel free to start acknowledging evolution is correct, or leave.

So I've fallen head over heels in love with a girl, and I think she has fallen head over heels in love with me. This has never happened before. It feels so perfect.

Ah man, I have every incentive possible to visit Latin America.

I dunno, I think the fundamental problem with healthcare was that your private sector wasn't handling it too well, either. America also had one of the largest amounts of government spending on healthcare per capita in the world under George Bush. And yet it didn't (and still doesn't) have anything near resembling universal healthcare. Compare that to other Western states with low levels of public spending on healthcare which none-the-less have high-quality universal healthcare. So it is extremely obvious that governments certainly can administer relatively effective and efficient universal healthcare programmes because there exist counter-examples of all shapes and sizes around the world.

you realize that the disconnect may not be with the boards and modern society, right? HA! Good Fun! F*** that! My friend's favourite word is c***. I almost agree with her, but it's harder to say that around your boss without getting a reprimand. am thinking you just proved our point. today, profanity is more acceptable in popular entertainment, but even in australia we suspect that profanity-filled discourse is frowned 'pon in business context. some clown calls up asking if you wanna change your f***ing cellphone provider? you want f***ing fries with that? these boards IS advertising space. oh, and we can just imagine using profanity in meetings with some o' our asian, arab, and those devoutly christian african clients. *snort* people often sees their little corner o' the world as representing modern society. am thinking it is a mistake to do so. HA! Good Fun! What a load of f***ing rubbish. Nothing wrong with a good f*** every now and then.

I like the word f***. I think it shows a bit of a disconnect with modern society that these boards still censor it.

Oh yeah? And what has happened since the official adoption of a policy of multiculturalism decades ago? You're using what Australia used to be like many decades ago to somehow 'prove' that Australia is intolerant now? My age would have to be about 3 times larger for me to begin to have a sound understanding of those days. Talk about misleading.
