  1. The way I see it: Roslin will go mad with power. Meanwhile the Cylons try to make amends. The lines between humanity and Cylons blur as Roslin, a human, performs actions as questionable as those of the Cylons. And yeah, it might be Baltar. The hybrid in Razor certainly hinted it was Baltar. It would further illustrate that Cylons can be as disgustingly human and self-serving as any human, but also redeem themselves, too. I'm liking the Saul-Six arc. Not liking Tory; stupid Cylon wench.
  2. That's probably one of the more poorly thought out arguments I've read recently.
  3. Is it only in 'indoor' areas? And are the lines basically polygonal? Sort of like concentric diamonds, or weird 4 sided shapes radiating from the centre of the screen?
  4. Agreed! And respect to the DS developers for taking fan advice and make Dungeon Siege 2 a really fun and interesting play through at least once. Although I'm perplexed by the fact that DS2 seemingly had less pretty graphics.
  5. I doubt it, Windows 7 will get delayed... Nah, MS is pushing for an 09 release, but 2010 at latest. They can't afford to delay it due to the poor performance of Vista and they know it.
  6. I believe my most recent favourable memory of Feargus is seeing him tear apart a rabid Fallout fanboy who was questioning his manhood. Something about fisting.
  7. Yes, or Carsomyr. Yeah, I think I'll use Carsomyr.
  8. Wait, America seriously supports abstinence as a form of contraception? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
  9. Wait, what? So, when importing from a BG1 save (or CHR file), you get to choose kits if the character belongs to a class that previously didn't have access to them Yep. If I import a Bard I get to choose if I am a Bard, Blade, Skald or whatever the other kit is. If I import a fighter, I can choose Kensai. No, just proficiency points. Stat points remain the same, but BG2 doesn't make any changes to stat point distribution anyway. BG2 does not, however, have any Tomes of Knowledge, unlike BG1. It's still just 1d8 (+STR bonus dmg)... So that's only dmg of 8 + 2 + STR during Offensive Spin (about 25 dmg or so)? That's not horrible, but it's not as good as I expected. The HLA druid form is 2D12 (hence my suggestion of Kensai/Druid). Oh well, hopefully the better Slayer forms Ascension grants do more max damage.
  10. Suit yourself. If it's not a problem for you to reroll your character for BG2, who am I to say anything? Why would I reroll my character? My stats don't change, my level doesn't change, I get to re-distribute my weapon profs, and I can choose the Blade kit when I import. Plus, those extra 8 stats points from BG1 tomes are nice, especially when they cause 19 Int and 19 Str. The problem I see with Cernd as an un-rebalanced shapeshifter is that as a caster, clerics are generally more useful, with a wider variety of spells. And he can't cast while in his (severely gimped) werewolf form, so once his ironskins wear out, he's in trouble. And, save for the Summon Elemental Prince HLA, most high-end stuff for druids is crap. But I already have a cleric. It's not as though I'll lose power if I take Cernd; all the party members will end up being overpowered I imagine. From memory he did fine in ToB last time. Personally I enjoy playing the HLA elemental shapeshifts. Played correctly they can make mince meat, though I admit they are more capable in the hands of Jaheira, Cernd still holds his own. I'd take Cernd for variety, really. My main point is that he isn't useless just because Jaheira is better. Anyway, we'll see how I feel when I get to BG2 as to whether I take Jaheira or not. Also, as with Jinx, thanks for mentioning the various mods, guys! I'll check them out when I finish BG1. Edit: Oh, and I'm looking forward to using Offensive Spin in BG2 while in Slayer form. Max damage @ 25 STR FTW!
  11. Oh~~~Tibet is a hypersensitive theme. You know there are so many parts of China have been independent countries. Oh believe me I know. We can discuss it via PM if you want, rather than derail this thread. But I'm resigned to the fact that Tibet will remain part of China; I worry more about Taiwan.
  12. Even from a realism perspective, there are a lot of things that are just plain wrong in many science fiction movies and games. You get a few people calling them out, but most people, even if they notice them, suspend disbelief because they are part of what makes the game/movie fun, and are generally integrated well enough to seem real or believable. Personally, I don't care much for the physics nerds who complain about how explosions in space are silent, or how scientific theory x was actually discredited in 1973, and I doubt I would care much for car nuts jumping up and down 'cause the year of the model is a few off. Anyway, the majority of the target audience isn't gun nuts or car nuts. And I doubt the gun nuts found Fallout less fun because some of the guns seemed out of place. I guess I'm saying: aim for accuracy and realism, sure, but don't avoid directly referencing the real-world just because you might get called out for it occasionally. Hmm, re-reading, Josh, it sounds like you think that abstraction is a valid argument for avoiding real-world history and names for guns because games like Fallout weren't meant to be simulations of the real-world. Maybe. But remember that games like Fallout take their atmosphere and credibility at least partially from the real world. The more of the real world you pack in, the more the game feels believable, 'alive'. Essentially what bronzepoem said. I don't feel the risk of irking a few gun dilettantes justifies abstracting weapons to the point of removing weapon 'idiosyncrasies' and history.
  13. Deekin was awesome. I loved the dragon blood plotline for him. Aha. I didn't like his personality that much. But I don't like the personalities of most BG2 NPCs. I think Bioware hired a writer from Mills & Boon for BG2.
  14. As far as you know. A lot of people say the same thing about loud music.
  15. I clean my ears in the shower with my fingers. That way I can then clean my fingers thoroughly, too. I hate earwax on my fingers. Still, I'm careful not to push my finger into my ear or use force, because again that can be damaging.
  16. I'm still checking out TuTu. I've downloaded it and haven't gotten far in BG1. Thing is, I like BG1. I don't really see a need to change or improve it. I'll be playing BG2 soon enough anyway, y'know? Cernd isn't the same as Jaheira in a fight, but he's anything but useless. His werewolf forms are half-decent when he gets corned and once he gets a shapeshift HLA he's a force to be reckoned with. But he's a caster in general. As a caster he trumps Jaheira, as he progresses faster and has higher wisdom. *shrug* I may still take Jaheira though. I haven't played her in quite a while.
  17. a should be more: "not primarily created for the purpose of making money" even artists have to eat, and most of them still want to sell a bunch of copies of their works to both expose them to people and to help earn a living. With such a modified definition, I'd generally consider a game like Torment 'true art', at least relative to the game markets of today and the past.
  18. Q-tips are more likely to damage your eardrums than clean your ears out.
  19. That list of banned Australian games is fine. Most of them are the dregs of gaming anyway, like GTA. It's Brazil that suffers. Check out its list. Kinda nonsensical if you ask me. "The various Pok
  20. I am totally replaying Giants sometime soon.
  21. I never understood why Dwarves were Scottish. Is there some kind of resemblance or something? Dwarves look more like a Scottish Terrier to me. Which, interestingly, are also Scottish when anthropomorphised. Is that it? Are Dwarves Scottish because they look like terriers?
  22. Haha true that. I've decided to play as a Blade, guys. I love druids but have played them too many times already. Still, it's going to be awesome fun playing a Blade in BG2. They rock. I guess this means my BG2 party will be: Me - Blade Imoen Viconia Jaheira or Cernd Janny Jan Jan Empty -> Sarevok Sound good? Well, off to play BG1 with some combo of: Me - Bard (Blade in BG2) Viconia Jaheira Imoen Branwen Minsc Xan Dynaheir
  23. God, it was worse in BG1. 20 arrows per stack. It was kind of fun though... middle of combat, firing away, you've almost won and BOOM, Imoen tries to walk up and punch the Doomguard because she's out of arrows. Imoen dies, critical hit into chunks and it is time to reload.
