Hmm, maybe Australian humour doesn't translate very well, but me and my housemates had a blast watching it! The users on IMDB give it "7.1/10 from 162 users". This SomethingAwful thread covers it well, and includes links to the free online pilot (4 episodes have aired since): http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3471018

Sometimes humanity makes me smile pretty hard. Source: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/inxile/wasteland-2/posts/193810

By not sitting at the PC all day long.

Looks cool. Ex-Bio vets started indie gaming studio and raised $100,000 (which was their goal) on Kickstarter within the first 2 days. Artsy RPG by the looks of it. Sick es bru. http://www.kotaku.com.au/2012/03/the-banner-saga-begins-waving-the-kickstarter-flag/ http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/stoic/the-banner-saga

Obsidian, will you take my money yet?
-
That's the plan. On the IP: inXile owns the Wasteland IP, bought it back from EA. Double Fine will presumably own the IP since I think they're working on a completely new one. Awesome. Based on what Brian Fargo's describing in the YouTube video, it's going to be a combination of Jagged Alliance 2 and Fallout 1/2. I think I'll pledge some bucks.

If I'm reading it right, they've now raised $1.5 million dollars for Wasteland 2 with 27 days to go. They've stated that this means they'll release Linux and Mac versions as well. Double Fine raised $3.3 million and theirs has finished. Those are some pretty large numbers. I'm curious though, who owns the IP? And can these devs then sell the finished products online via Steam to make further cash? Edit: And to think Gorth and co were only recently ranting about how piracy has killed the game industry. Yeah right. I don't think I've ever seen it stronger, more varied, more multi-platform, or more open to independents (and Kickstarter is but one reason among many).

Are you overweight because you're simply tired?

Is there anything that doesn't give you cancer nowadays? "increases risk of cancer" != "gives you cancer" -

If you have a deeper look into sleep deprivation, it's associated with ****ing up so many things in your body and mind (both short- and long-term). One of the main things sleep seems to do is regenerate cellular energy levels (adenosine triphosphate/ATP units). Not a process you want to skimp out on. -
Ouch, Bioware... Dragon Age 2, and now this?

This is probably one of the most insightful posts I've read in a while. -
Mass Effect 3's user rating relative to reviewer rating on Metacritic is hilarious: http://www.zonared.c...-mass-effect-3/ I'll admit I gave up on Bioware a while ago, but it still hurts a bit to see the company that came up with Baldur's Gate 1 fall so far.

This post (and outlook) is especially relevant to the current media and mining landscape in Australia.

I just want to juxtapose these two posts because one of them makes logical sense, and the other is kind of terrifying. Yes, yes and yes again. I'd trade Obama for either Romney or Santorum right now hands down. I would not call either of them lunatics. Romney in particular is a very smart guy. I don't completely agree with either of them on much but either would be an upgrade. That Santorum bit of this post? Disgusting. Yeah it really pisses you off that somewhere in the wide world out there someone might have a different politcal viewpint than yours dosen't it. But then again you posted you don't really consider them people so... For what it's worth it pleases me to no end you find my opinion disgusting. I must be doing something right then.

I figured you'd chime in with an off-the-cuff comment about health being for sissies. No worries, you live your life the way you want, but I'll personally opt for a higher quality of life with a trade-off of more time asleep (which is no trade-off at all - sleep is great).

Isn't that 8 hour sleep thing a myth? Maybe toddlers and kids needs it, but I'm fairly sure adults don't. Nope, for most stages of your life, 8 hours is the recommended amount of sleep. Obviously this varies based on a lot of factors, but that is the accepted standard. I'm 33 and I feel terrible if I don't get at least 7, but I also get interrupted at least once a night. This is correct. Less than the recommend hours of sleep has been strongly linked with Alzheimer's plaque build-up, depression, obesity, stroke risk, and a variety of other ailments. I think the link to Alzheimer's plaques is of particular note. For teenagers the healthy amount of sleep is up around 10 hours, while it falls slowly from there down to 8 as you become more elderly (and including the elderly). I try to make sure I get 9 hours sleep each night (24 year old), and I feel it hard when I don't. While I'm sure I could train my body to feel it less (or not at all) if I got less, simply by having less for a few months, the long-term physical and mental stresses caused by lack of sleep would continue to cause additive damage year by year. Another consideration is that, whatever amount of sleep you do get, you should ensure it ends on a complete sleep cycle (typically 90 minutes, but naturally varying around this amount from person to person). I'm sure we've all had times when we've woken or been woken in the middle of a sleep cycle and felt like absolute dog ****. To me that seems a bit like pulling the plug on your computer while it's in the middle of writing a file to the hard disk. There is some suggestion that, as long as the cycles are complete, the human body is evolutionarily designed more for interrupted sleep (say 4.5 hours twice spread throughout the day) than a single long sleep. Certainly, people have been shown to learn a lot better (specifically retain important knowledge and purge irrelevant stuff) when they have a short nap in the afternoon (a siesta). EDIT: Here is a table Wikipedia has on this, although different sources have slight variances in the numbers: Age and condition Average amount of sleep per day Newborn up to 18 hours 1

But I thought laissez-faire capitalists hated regulations on the labour market such as worker's unions, minimum wage, and restrictions on shifts such as length and break requirements? The free market will sort it out, no need for regulation.

Man, I could be quoting Stalin or Hitler for all we know.

Hmmm? I didn't link the video nor do I think I conflated anything by saying "Yeah, that one is pretty good". Do you? But the vid does raise some valid points. Indeed, Ron Paul often does raise valid points alongside all his crazy - which is more than you can say for idiots like Rick Santorum.

I think that the robots should operate on ternary logic rather than binary, to protect their data against hacking by intelligent deathclaws.
