  1. Must be the lighting, format or the makeup, looks fine to me on this pic:
  2. Pff, I don't ride horses, I ride white tigers only. Seriously though, I just stated my opinion and gave good reasons why I believe that the AR system is not as good as you ignorant maggots people say, there is no high horse I can climb down from.
  3. The only good looking lady in GoT, besides Lena Headey.
  4. 90% of the AR's sold today are still direct impingement. Soldiers in A-Stan carry AR15s which are not 20 years old. Its hard to convert DI AR's to piston, they weren't designed for it and it creates tons of new problems. (Follower tilt for example) A weapon system that comes with a piston from the factory isn't Stoners original design therefore its not really an AR. HK 416 for example, its not really an AR. Its like saying a Ford pick up truck that has been converted to mid-engine layout and front wheel drive is still a Ford pickup truck. Having an opinion =/= being biased. I'd love to have a strictly technical unbiased discussion about the pros and cons of that system.
  5. My god, the NSA is observing my mouth!
  6. The AR has always been and will always be a completely overrated mediocre weapons system. If the US military didn't adopt it nobody would even waste a thought on it. The Design depends too much on lubrication, use too little and it jams, run it dry and it doesn't work at all, use the wrong one or too much and the gun gums up because of the powder residue mixes with the oil. Heat + oil + powder residue creates a material similar to tar. Tight tolerances, some sand or dirt renders the gun inoperable. Some say it runs better with super exclusive dry lubricants a'la graphite and that stuff. Oh, and direct impingement, powder residue and gas blows right into the action of the gun, you know, that action with tight tolerances. How genius is that? Its like a car with the exhaust pipes leading into the engine bay where it sprays the super sensitive engine and everything with diesel residue, oil and slag. Doesn't sound very awesome? Thats because it isn't. Two friends of mine traded their AR's for Steyr AUG'sn because of their guns' underwhelming reliability (on the shooting range under perfect conditions), another friend has been trying to get his Bushmaster AR-10 run trouble-free for 1.5 years now and he soo wishes that he took the Saiga in .308 instead (which I recommended to him). The AR has very good accuracy, ergonomics and a good trigger thats about it. Give me a piston Steyr AUG, piston FN-FAL or piston AK, keep your sh!ts-where-it-eats direct impingement AR. A weapon system thats not reliable nor dependable and needs constant cleaning and lubing is worthless for battlefield conditions. FN-FAL / L1A1 for example, its accuracy may not be as good as the AR's but its dead-reliable, thanks to the piston it stays super-clean, tolerances are bigger which makes the gun still able to run under dirty conditions. It also comes with an adjustable gas plug which allows you to increase the gas bleed-off in case the gun gets REALLY dirty and the bolt needs extra oomph. It handles almost as well as the AR, its layout is similar. All its parts are totally over-engineered, the AR feels like a cheap toy in comparison. A few drops of random motor oil in and on the bolt carrier and its good to go for thousands of rounds in all kinds of battlefield conditions and environments with utter reliability. And for the record, when I served in the military I got the Steyr AUG aka STG77, the rear-heaviness of the rifle didn't bother me, it was simply too light to be uspet about the way it balances. Give me a badly balanced 6kg rifle and I'll complain, but a 3,5 kg rifle cant be so awefully balanced that it would bother me. To me all rifles in that weight class balance roughly the same when tightly pulled into the shoulder.
  7. Maybe its the latter, I'm woefully bad at paying attention at something I'm not interested in, no matter how hard I try. Anyway, got a new reason to drink Vodka: a tooth filling just fell out and I need to keep the hole clean till the doc repairs that thing. I think its a filling, the hole is perfectly round in shape and pretty deep, with a razor sharp edge. Either that or a small shaped charge went off in my mouth and ripped a hole into my tooths hull, though I've never heard of caries using advanced explosives on teeth. Like I said, a good reason to drink some Vodka. Chemical warfare baby!

  9. Man, I think I'm going to lose my job, I need to make calls but I couldn't understand half of what people are saying if my life depended on it, and its getting worse. I have extremely good ears, my ear-doc confirmed that, but on phones it sounds like people are eating food rather than talking to me. I can only understand people and friends I call very frequently. High pitch or low pitch voice, male or female, language, it does not matter, I just can't hear the words. This is so frustrating and I don't know what to do.
  10. Not quite, for example I will continue to eat noodles, bread (the good stuff) and potatoes.
  11. Today I started my '' if man made it don't eat it'' diet. Its pretty much self-explaining what its all about, I have had enough of artificial flavors, refined sugar, TONS of simple carbs, preservatives, stabilizers and other dodgy ingredients and chemicals the human body wasn't designed to digest. I'm so done with that stuff. No more potato chips, candy, cookies and all that worthless harmful unnatural crap. I wanted to stop eating that stuff for years, now the day has come. If this means that I have to cook more so be it, I like challenges. Its not going to be fun or easy, but I'm certain that they payoff is going to be worth the hard work.
  12. Today I made my second favorite exercise- weighted command pull ups- even better, with negatives. Put a chair under my pull up bar, did my pull regular ups and then when I was finished and couldn't do one more pull up I used the chair to get myself up again. Then I slowly lowered my body. This way I could do 5 more reps and the pump I got is unbelievable. Highly recommendable, but very hard exercise, negatives after normal reps really hurt.
  13. Jim Beam, you know, against that nasty throat ache. I'd rather go muzzleloader shooting because nothing works better against a shore throat than the smoke of burned blackpowder (I sheet you not, it works wonders) but I don't have enough time right now. So strong drinks will have to do.
  14. Pretty amazing - in a bad way- what a ''little'' 250lbs IED does to a MRAP. I thought those were MUCH more bomb resistant. All 7 passengers survived, though with severe injuries. Which is a miracle if you look at that pic, there is very little left of that 20 tons truck.

  16. I'm having a strange kind of throat ache thats gets slowly and steadily worse, its just a really small spot two centimeters above my epiglottis and it hurts when I press my tongue against my teeth or when I build up pressure when bench pressing heavy weights. I had many throat infections in my life but none like this. Guess its the place right where my tongue is attached to my neck. Time to gargle some strong vodka.
  17. What amazes me is the paratrooper at the last third of the vid landing on both his legs without even rolling off to dampen the landing. I was being told that if you do that with full combat load with a falling velocity of 8+ meters a second your legs snap if you're lucky, if you're unlucky both your legs AND you back snaps.- So am I.
  18. I love how people judge movies they haven't even seen, thats how you form a valid high quality opinion fu yeah! Whatever happened to the philosophy of having an unbiased open mind?
  19. Gravity. I enjoyed this refreshingly unconventional film immensely, should have watched it in the theater. I'm sure a man more knowledgeable in physics and space stuff than me could complain about the many things the movie possibly didn't get right. Ignorance is a bliss I guess. Anyway, besides the awesome CGI I really enjoyed the acting as much as the script, even though the story went from bad to worse like a hundred times, it got a little silly at times. But thats ok. Oh, and two things I've learned from Gravity: Sandra Bullock is still hot, hot as in instantly-melts-my-hands-away-hot. Holy wow. And that I'd be one hell of an Astronaut since I have long very strong arms with the grip strength of a hydraulic press. Which seems to be HUGE plus in case things get messed up up there.
  20. Went to my aunts birthday party, it was a big family gathering eating pizza and everything. And nobody laughed about my knock-knock and black humor-ish Irishman jokes. :<
  21. I actually think its pretty sad that it took people 150 years to understand basic physics like leverage. I've always asked myself why they didn't lower the cylinder and barrel of a sixgun to reduce muzzle flip. People have been doing this with rifles for decades. Look at the AR or the FAL, barrels are almost perfectly in line with the butt stock, and those guns have very little muzzle raise.
  22. Odd question: Why are most modern battle tanks and even APC'S with 20, 25 and 30mm cannons not equipped with muzzle brakes? I shoot large caliber rifles with muzzle brakes and they have several benefits and only one drawback. Why are they only seen on artillery? Benefits: Dramatic recoil reduction, up to 50-60% depending on operating pressure Reduces muzzle flash Weight on the end of the barrel counters barrel whip and has a positive effect on barrel harmonics which increases long range accuracy Powder residue is blown to the sides which avoids clouds of smoke building up atop the muzzle blocking the view of the gunner. Drawbacks: Increased noise and muzzle blast to bystanders (should be a non-issue though, tanks are equipped with reactive armor, now thats bad for bystanders)
  23. Went to the hair stylist to get the hair on the back of my head cut to a shorter length. It was day 122 without getting my hair cut but long hair on the back of the head sucks so I had to do something about it. Rest of my hair is still long and getting longer, 8 months to go. But I'm still not used to the feeling of having so much hair on my head. Also at the grocery store I saw Carol Peletier from The Walking Dead, her hair was a bit longer though, but same style. But she looked like a clone, she even had the same voice and calm personality. Scary.
  24. I've got an easy and very cost efficient solution for you, Wals. Take an ordinary hollow point bullet (Or drill a hole into the tip of a bullet), fill the hollow point with molten silver and voilĂ ! You have an anti-beasty round that works just as well as an ordinary bullet. To ensure better silver dispersion in the body of your target you can drill the hollow point deeper and don't fill the hole entirely so it still acts like a hollow point. Though you should be aware of hollow points inefficiency against large, dangerous, mythical game. I advise using heavy high SD solids for deep penetration to reach the vitals. Nothin sucks more than shallow wounds from HP's that create mere skin irritations for the really big beasts. Oh yeah, and I just wanted to mention that I'm pretty happy that there is an ocean between your country and mine. We might have problems with huge mutated ducks and occasional dinosaur attacks but at least I can still use lead bullets.

I'm sent forth to collect, Another bitter harvest. A cruel trial to find out, Who they can push the farthest. I didn't know there was a song about my life.
