  1. Anyone here doing close grip trap shrugs? Did them yesterday, 140 kg 8 reps 5 sets, in combination with standing military presses. Killer exercise if you want a strong neck for dead lifts and rows. Exercise works better against depression than any meds. Exercise also has no adverse effects, dramatically improves your health, makes you feel and look better. Its the best thing a depressed person can do.

  3. I think the color of the eyes is irrelevant, my mother has blue eyes and she totally ''feels'' only a beer or two even though she does not admit it, my uncle has blue eyes and he can drink moderately. My eyes are dark green with some brown in them and I can spend 120 bucks on alcohol till I need to be dragged home.
  4. Invasion of the body snatchers is a classic, love it. ''Don't look now'' was on free TV only a couple of weeks ago, the old woman dwarf murder...thing.... still gives me the creeps. Also it never ceases to amaze me how creepy off-season Venice with no people on the streets is. My favorite Donald Sutherland performance however his his small role as crazy arsonist in Backdraft, he just nailed it. Oscar-worthy seconds of brilliant acting.
  5. And Ireland cant decide. Thats so typical.
  6. Thanks for the suggestion, never heard of that movie before. Hey, Donald Sutherland and Ralph Fiennes? That film must be good.
  7. No I haven't read the book. Sure, they called it an ''arena'' a couple of times but putting a dome over a forest, installing some cannons and a couple of cameras doesn't really make it an arena. Another thing that bothered me was the wooden acting, I've never liked emotional scenes were the protagonists keep a perfectly straight face all the time. And I've seen that ''pairs can win now'' soooo coming. I just facepalmed. The saddest thing though was Donald Sutherland being in this movie, I'm a huge fan of this actor and seeing him in a silly film such as this is heartbreaking.
  8. Hunger Games. That film was SO stupid I had to stop watching it halfway through. Aside from the fact that it was blatantly aimed towards a teen-audience I found all the survival ''tactics'' wrong and laughable at best. What were they thinking? Things that made me cringe: Teaching kids how to KILL with spears, throwing spears, throwing knives and bows in a couple of days? riiiiight....thats like so believable. If you're hunted by a group of people just climb a tree and sleep it over. Don't bother making a primitive weapon (Spear) so you can defend yourself from the start or finding acceptable camouflaged shelter. Thats for noobs. Drinking liters of unfiltered unboiled water from a small river in the middle of a jungle-like forest. I highly recommend that if you want the fever and diarrhea of your life. Sleeping on the ground (in the open, uncovered!) in a high-moisture forest that sucks the warmth right out of your body without any kind of insulation made from leaves or twigs? A bomb-proof way to get a cold and die. Why did the group put explosive traps RIGHT NEXT to their survival supplies so one mine triggered all the others blowing up all their gear in the process? Genius. Making noise, talking loudly not caring about the tiniest amount of camouflage is a great idea when several people hunt you and want to kill you in the middle of a huge forest. And so on. Make. It. STOP.
  9. When you drink lots of alcohol drink lots of water just before going to bed. (1-1.5 liters) A couple of times I was so drunk I had to be carried home but I still remembered to drink the water. The next day my hangovers were almost non-existent.
  10. Same here, I'm starving for a good game but there aren't any that even remotely interest me. What I did today. I role played a lumberjack and chopped a ton of firewood with my axe. I'm surprisingly good at it.
  11. Don't forget that Mikhail Kalashnikov was born exactly 94 years ago. (10th Nov 1919) Happy Birthday!
  12. Shot this with my hunting rifle today, with commercial ammo! 7 shots at 100 meters. The hit at 6 o' clock was the cold bore shot. (Shot high because the rifle is sighted in for 150) With this accuracy I could hit a fly shot after shot at 100.
  13. Looks like Assad's troops have finally come to senses, now they use snipers on elevated positions to spot and identify the enemy and to give the tanks firing instructions. The rebels however seem to fire at tanks with barely aimed rifles and machine guns. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=db7hCVzdZYQ
  14. Depends. Are we talking about a full metal jacket or hollow point old lady? I think pedestrians get too much trust. Thats why bicycle riders AND all sorts of other vehicles run them over so often.
  15. When was the last time you crossed an express way with fast vehicles on it only listening and not watching for traffic? If I would only listen instead to look for traffic I would have died so many times its not even funny. No, I don't think I would have shed a single tear. Stupid people do stupid things that kills 'em. Happens a thousand times / day all over the world. I just prefer them doing their stupid things far away from me.
  16. It took me a couple of seconds to figure out where that long hair around your neck came from. First I thought its a creepy extra-long gravity-defying part of your beard thats growing over your shoulder down your back.
  17. The secret to a clear conscience is not to have a conscience in the first place. What I did today: Almost killed an old lady and myself today, on a really fast downhill section I was doing approx a 100 on my bicycle (Still within the speed limit) when this old women on the sidewalk suddenly decided to cross the street right in front of me without looking for traffic. It happened so fast I couldn't even brake, I missed her by mere centimeters and almost slid into the guide rail. Had I been a car I totally would have turned her body into ragout. This is how deadly accidents happen. The three most dangerous accidents / near accidents I had in my life were all caused by confused old people. Coincidence? I think not. I have nothing against old people but the stupid and mentally challenged ones should be put on a leash or exiled to a deep well where they cannot harm the living.
  18. Did a lot of hobby stuff today, hand loaded 40 rounds for my precision rifle while listening to NIN, then I upgraded my mono black and mono artifact MTG decks with cards I bought a couple of days ago.
  19. A friend of mine who has the dual citizenship for Austria and the US is a private contractor and currently working in Afghanistan. Interesting as his profession might be his work times suck. 6 months in the sand pit, 6 months holiday and spending the money. The job pays VERY well though.
  20. A great way to demoralize terrorists. Funniest thing I've read in weeks.
  21. Spent my afternoon at my solicitor setting up a very comprehensive (15+ pages) contract. Sounds boring at first but it turned out to be a lot of fun, the brainstorming required to make a solid bomb-proof contract that outsmarts various public agencies was very refreshing for my brain and that guy had a dark sense of humor. We laughed a lot.
  22. A question I get asked quite often. I was drafted into the military when I was 17, there I quickly realized that I'm not military material. Everything there felt so stupid and inane I had a hard time not to break into laughter all the time. The mind numbing routines, soul crushing senseless parades, never ending cleaning drills, having to obey the orders of single-digit-IQ Rambo-wannabe superiors and the completely nonsensical contradicting PT exercises made the whole army thing highly unattractive to me. Marksmanship training and PT might sound cool to some people but to be honest as a target shooter I'm already a skilled marksman and I can use MY equipment and my handloaded ammo for practice which is way better than what the army issues to its professional soldiers. About the physical training, I go hiking, cycling, mountain climbing and I do strength training which is far more effective than the trash PT in the army I've experienced first-hand. Its really that bad. The payment really sucks. Another thing that makes being a professional soldier very unattractive to me is the fact that Austria has lost its neutrality when we agreed to the EU contract thats says we have to give military aid to other EU members in need. However, the only country I'd risk my life for is Austria. I cannot imagine me being a professional soldier because of the reasons mentioned above unless its either that or sleeping in the streets. Sorry for the wall of text here but I just couldn't answer that question in just a couple of words.
  23. The second coldest day I've ever experienced. Minus 27 Celsius. I didn't alter the pic in any way, everything was really covered in deep blue lighting. Our highest mountain, the Grossglockner. My natural habitat. Me hiking somewhere....
