I'm not living in a rabbit burrow. As always, you have to know what you are doing, its not very hard to move around with a rifle if you know how to move with it. And we're talking about a rifle thats a tad longer than 1 meter, as long as the shotguns and AR's Police and SWAT use in CQB. I think it would be a good idea to continue this discussion in the firearms thread.

Yeah, meele weapons are highly effective against firearms, thats why SWAT use Katanas and swords when they storm buildings. Wait.... I use the best of both worlds for personal protection against nightly intruders, a large caliber rifle loaded with expanding hunting bullets with a 50cm bayonet mounted at the muzzle. Half rifle half spear.

I had a pretty creative day today, I needed a chest to store some stuff but instead of buying one I went to the hardware store, bought all the wood and parts and built one myself. I totally forgot how fun and relaxing woodwork is. I still need to stain and oil it though. And now I'm hand loading ammo for tomorrows range visit.

The Doc is an idiot. The No1 cause of spinal injuries and damage is sitting hunched over in an office chair for decades till your back is FUBAR. The No1 cause of exercise related spinal / back damage is caused by a bad lifting technique. I know guys who have been deadlifting for 40years+ with weights beyond the 160kg (350lbs) mark, and they have no back problems whatsoever. However, I know guys who have been deadlifting for only a couple of years and ruined backs because they lift those weights improperly putting way too much stress on their spine. When deadlifting lift slowly, don't snatch, let the bar slide along your shins, always look at the ceiling when lifting the barbell because that keeps your spine straight. Lifting with a rounded back is what kills spines. And don't do good mornings, thats the exercise Bruce Lee killed his back with.- Music, part 2

Oh, color, yeah, that totally explains it. Must be a very special black or something. What I did today: I just had a heated discussion with that female person that gave birth to me. She wants a key to my door for ''emergencies'' in case I'm not feeling well / sick / injured / insert totally ridiculous situation and I can't help myself. I kindly told her to f*** off that I'm a grown-up man and not a helpless little pet animal, that my well-being is my concern and I'm not handing out keys to anyone. Why do mothers have to be so bloody irrational and overly protective? I thought I was being well past that time when I had arguments with my mother, now I feel like I'm a ten year old kid again.- The general fitness thread
Look what I've found, a one-repetition max weight calculator, and its pretty accurate, at least for me. It also shows your fitness levels in the specific exercises (taking your body weight -size- into account). In case you don't know how much weight you can lift in kg, one sack of potato chips weighs approx.0,2Kg. Pretty cool, huh? According to the test I'm sadly only intermediate level in squats and dead lifts but almost ''elite'' level in overhead presses and bench pressing.- What you did today
Yeah, I've been eyeing a certain soft shell jacket for a while, but now that I can afford it, it's gone from all reputable places. Bought it from an Austrian Ebay seller, so if they rip me off, I'm going to hire you and your halloween costume to have a chat with him. Everybody needs a side job thanks to this blasted economy crisis! Whats so special about this particular softshell jacket? Is the jackets lining made of woven nymph hair or what?- What you did today

Sadly nobody I know is interested in doing it in the middle of the winter. But less than perfect conditions is what makes a climb interesting. I'll keep looking, though, I definitely want to do this. You call this life? You're only alive when you're at least 6 feet under 3500 meters above sea level, knee deep in snow, climbing a 45° slope with icicles hanging off you beard so long you could use them as climbing sticks! Everything else is just mere ''existence''. [/fanatic] (I'm only half joking)- What you did today
Today I've started planning a 4-day winter-hike/camping trip to the top of our highest mountain, the Grossglockner (~3800m) for mid-January. Turns out I need to upgrade my equipment for such trip, I need better climbing-snowshoes, a new jacket and a sleeping bag for temperatures below -30 Celsius, two ice picks and a new cooker and a portable snow shovel. I hope my Christmas bonus is big enough so I can afford all that essential stuff. The biggest problem however is not the money but finding somebody who accompanies me on that trip. Going alone would be too dangerous and all of my friends don't feel able enough for that climb in winter conditions.- The Funny Things Thread.

^ A friend of mine died in an accident driving a Porsche Cayenne on the German Autobahn. With 200 km/h he hit another car while trying to overtake, hit a guardrail which made the car roll itself into oblivion. The sunroof opened during the roll overs and the centrifugal forces forced him through the sunroof, he got stuck there and the heavy car rolled over his head and torso a couple of times. His friend on the passenger seat who used the seatbelt was unharmed. The moral of the story: Use seatbelts! And sunroofs suck. And last but not least: avoid accidents. DUH! What I did today; I chopped firewood. All day long. And then I chopped some more firewood.... *groan*- Community Photo Sharing Thread

Funny how different people are. Or its simply a matter of perspective? When I started lifting I was lethargic and had suicidal thoughts all the time. I was one depressed SOB. Lifting gave me the opportunity to vent all my anger, frustration and bad thoughts and use that energy to do something useful and beneficial to me. I could lift like crazy, the worst thing for me were exercise breaks (They still are). I have changed but I still vent my anger in weight lifting. It works wonderfully and its the best motivation there is to get physical. In fact it works so well I have to be careful not to get over-motivated sometimes. There are many ways to defeat plateaus without overstraining your body or having to consult an expert. Switching exercises, drop sets, forced reps, supersets all work and they don't ruin you if not done excessively. Of course you'll hit your genetic limit someday, but 99,99% of people who exercise will never come near it because they're simply not determined enough. The danger of hurting yourself with normal exercise is really low. IMO the biggest danger when hitting a plateau is succumbing to the temptation of power enhancing drugs, those CAN and DO kill and sadly many people cant resist.- The general fitness thread
