  1. Same, not really a fan of multi-classing particularly in PoE where the classes were already quite flexible anyway. Prestige classes or as someone else mentioned earlier kits would be great. Arch Mages oh my! Some cool ideas can come from this though. A Barb/Chanter mixing Carnage and the concentration phrase would be an example. I agree the class system was really flexible with most classes. Some more than others though.
  2. I agree with Grammar's list here. Particularly skills, but I'm fine with class bonuses remaining if they overhaul the system. It really needs an overhaul, IMHO. I am still thinking about any wishes I have, and I'll post when I've really given it thought. I will say that I hope they revisit some class design ideas. Particularly, Chanters. I've mentioned it elsewhere on here today, I believe. However it requires repeating.
  3. That's fair, but iirc Europe is a pretty big area for these games when it comes to crowdfunding, and I expect it may pick back up over night as their day progresses. We will see. I think how well they do in the mid-campaign slump depends on stretch goals. Either way, I'm excited to have a month of something to occupy my down time at work.
  4. I have been contemplating it, and a party of 5 with multiclassing might be OK. It means you can potentially have fewer people on the field with nearly equal tactical options, and perhaps more options depending on the mix. I don't know. I still like 6, but you're right that many areas felt claustrophobic. That's partially an area design issue though. I will hold out getting too worried until we learn more.
  5. I think you may be lowballing there. It's only been running for 4 and a half hours. I expect they will meet their goal by tomorrow. Maybe within 24 hours. Also, these things tend to be front and back heavy. So I expect big numbers toward the end of the campaign as well. Right now it is getting $100k an hour, roughly. The question is how long will that last? I expect it will be comparable to Wasteland 3, and may surpass it.
  6. It could also be that you can have 5 companions in your party and that got miscommunicated as "party of 5".
  7. Pretty much the same feeling here. The versatility of builds allowed by Multi-classing increases playability for these types of games. As long as Obsidian does it in a way to tone down any seriously broken builds (too good and too bad) then I'm on board, and Josh will bring the balance.
  8. Agreed, for the most part. Some classes need a bit of a revamp imho. Chanters for instance. They are powerful, but their mechanics are still more beneficial on PotD than the lower difficulties. Also, Dragons Thrashed needs to be looked at. It's so good that there isn't much else worth looking at in that level bracket.
  9. That's it. Thanks. "But in Latin Jehovah begins with an I."
  10. It reminds me of the temple (which its real world name escapes me) at the end of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade where the Grail is being kept. It's pretty sweet looking regardless.
  11. On the bright side, it should be pretty easy to find the titan by following the footsteps. Until it starts island hopping in the Deadfire Archipelago. Those footsteps are hard to see at the bottom of the ocean.
  12. Well, it won't be releasing tomorrow. You should build one, and do a run through of PoE1/TWM to prepare for it. I know I have a few plythroughs planned. A couple to finish up, and a couple to start fresh.
  13. Guy with the flaming head dies, and reincarnates in a place called the Deadfire. O_o
  14. Could be Eothas is a companion. What class would the god of renewal, light, redemption, spring, rebirth, dawn and birth be? I must say the only class to fit him would be a Priest. It's the best fit. Perhaps a multiclass? Priest/Druid (spring/dawn), Priest/Paladin (he isn't happy and that could make him much more martial), Priest/Fighter (same reason as Paladin), Priest/Barbarian (same as Fighter and Paladin but it's down right rage), Priest/Chanter (I don't know...), and I don't think anything else fits. EDIT: Priest/Monk could also work if they play up that the Godhammer damaged him, and now he embraces that pain while also embracing the betrayal from the Kith of Eora and feeding on that pain.
  15. Seems legit. Also, it makes me wonder about how some souls are damaged when returning from the Wheel. You know, like the poor sods in the Asylum. They are broken. What if some (or all) of the souls that comprise Eothas didn't make the transition in as good of shape as they were in prior to the Godhammer. Perhaps the Godhammer itself caused the damage, and that's why he is vengeful. I find it an interesting idea. I could be over analyzing it, and he could just be pissed. Either way, I'm excited.
  16. Like I said above, them having the engine set up, tools in place, and having a production pipeline running fairly efficiently they can do much more with less, imho. Look at the Shadowrun games: $1.8 million made Reterns and it's the weakest game, Dragonfall was made from Returns profits and it's the best IMHO, Hong Kong made $1.2 million and it is great (not as good as DF, but better than Returns). So they probably will be fine with a good bit less. However, I definitely want to see them make as much money or more than last time. People wanted PoE to be BG2/SoA come again, but I always hedged my bets on that. It's a lofty dream when Obsidian had to create all that stuff during pre-production, get use to tools/engine, and then churn out a game and debug. This is the same reason Shadowrun Returns was the weakest title of those 3 games. I expect PoE2 will innovate, iterate, and have a better put together story. PoE was BG1, and TWM was ToSC. PoE2 could be their BG2/SoA. It has the chance to be much better. Even if they don't hit $3.9 million like last time. Although, I think we all want it to make tons of crowdfunding dough.
  17. Yes, because, if this is PoE2 (I think it is pretty much a sure thing), then they wouldn't want to lose an IP they own in order to get backing from a publisher. They have had the money to work on the game for a while now, already. They already have the engine ready, they likely have the story mostly laid out, they probably have most systems much closer to where they want them, etc. They just need money for production, more than likely. This means they don't need as much money, but I would be ecstatic if they got as much or more. I am almost more psyched for PoE2 than I was for the first game. That is mostly because they will have all their ducks in a row, and not have to build everything from the ground up.
  18. Ugh. My primary GPU failed, and had to gut my Steam Machine (custom built) for its 960. Plus side is when I got my main rig back up and running it was after 10am, and i have the count down clock now. So, this is definitively based on your browser's local time.
  19. I think Bethesda and/or Activision-Blizzard make the most sense. Bethesda has FO and it would make sense to have another FO made when they switch gears to ES6, building a new Engine, or another creating another IP. Best to keep your IP's from languishing if you can help it. Activision-Blizzard owns Arcanum and Boyarsky probably knows people. So, this would make things interesting. Sega is possible, but less likely. They have worked with each other before. AP and Alien RPG. EA? If they want an "RPG" made they will go with Bioware. Atari? Um... are they not bankrupt yet? My.com? lol Ubisoft? I really doubt it. Squenix? Possible, but unlikely. MS? Doubtful, but wasn't Obsidian suppose to make an Xbox 360 or One launch title and it fell through? So possible.
  20. I just decided to buckle down and start paying my car off as quickly as possible. I can afford it, but I really shouldn't. I will though. I'm weak willed.
  21. Agreed. I'll play run of the mill fantasy if that is what they make, but I really want something different. Steampunk, Urban Fantasy, Wild West, Espionage, Diesel Punk, Cyberpunk (although with Cyberpunk 2070 coming, Shadowrun, and a few others... it is getting saturated a bit too), and even Sci-fi would be preferable.
  22. OR, we might just get a disappointing nothing until the "real" countdown ends. Either way, we can do nothing but kick back, grab a beer or twelve and see what happens :D Yeah, I suppose so. We'll know eventually when it happens sometime tomorrow. Also, this countdown reminds me of Pillars 1 countdown and it smells like kickstarter campaign. Honestly, I always expected a Kickstarter/Fig campaign because they want to retain rights to the IP. Even though they own them now, I would expect any publisher deals would require they sign the rights to the IP away. Also, I hope for a crowdfunding campaign. I get bored at work at my 3rd shift job. All sites on the web are dead when I get time to sit down. So, this will give me something to do for a month or so. I just hope they have their Stretch Goals in order on this go around. LOL. Also, I hope they avoid the Mega-Dungeon idea as a Stretch Goal. I would rather C&C be the focus. More factions, factions are more important, stronghold plays a larger part in the core game, etc. Where, if they do a huge multi-level dungeon like Od Nua/Durlag's Tower/etc, then I hope it is built more naturally and full of puzzles. When I say naturally I mean that some levels of Od Nua were there to meet those goals but completely superfluous. It would've benefited from some consolidation. Also, I hope they don't do backer NPCs like the last time. I can think of a few better ways to incorporate high level backers into the game. They could give a rough idea for Unique Weapons, Armor, Gear, etc. The first game has few too sparse options for certain weapon types, and this could alleviate that. The plaque/gravestone idea is fine because you can avoid them, and they don't clutter the world too much. Certain high level backers could create the one off vendors with no quest interaction. Mentioning backers in the Credits is fine as well. Some spell ideas from backers would also be cool. I had another idea, but I forgot it. Ugh, my brain needs a jump start. Coffee is coming soon. lol Multiclassing is something I am hopeful for, as well. Also, I hope some classes get some tweaks beyond what we have seen in patches for the first game. For instance, Chanters are great, but they shine more on PotD and are marginally useful on lower difficulties. They peak late because of Brisk Recitation, and I would hope for their chant speed to be tied into Dexterity to allow more build customization. Because right now, a heavily armored, tank chanter is the best way to build it. The class benefits less from the Attribute system than others. Other than that, without MCA at Obsidian anymore, I hope they bring George Ziets in for heavy collaboration again. Sorry, don't mean to derail this thread, but I just felt like tossing that all out there.
  23. I was thinking the same thing. We have one more page update in 8 hours or so, right? Perhaps that is when the clock was supposed to appear. Which would be 10AM PST. Then it would be counting down to the big reveal 24 hours from then. I have a little over 4 and a half hours until 10am EST which is my time zone. Maybe it will update for me then if it isn't a screw up on Obsidian's part that is fixed in the time between now and then. EDIT: You beat me. LOL
  24. I can't say it enough... I would prefer steampunk. However, Urban Fantasy is awesome.
  25. I've scrolled all the way down the page. Nothing there. Ive tried chrome, bing, and firefox. I can't figure this out.
