First impression on full ability tree
Ganrich replied to dunehunter's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
As a side note the tooltips for spells and abilities haven't exactly improved much from PoE... Yeah, the right click page on these abilities really need to show resource cost for one thing. You only see that on hover, and since he doesn't hover it's hard to say whether some abilities are worth it. That goes without saying that there are a myriad of other issues. -

I would say level 6-9 got shafted for Rangers and Rogues. It is really empty once you get past level 5. Rogues have nothing below Ring the Bell and Finishing Blow. Rangers have similar amounts of nothing in the same area of their tree. -
Ranger seems to be in the same boat. The bottom right of both the Ranger and Rogue ability trees seem to be completely empty. I wonder if the Devs just came up short on ideas because these two classes feel like they are about half a class. Both seem like MC material because of the lack of high level abilities.

Do we know for a fact the Seppuku via your own Sacred Immolation will give you a wound if you have the Auto-rez upgrade? I could see the other Rez that costs zeal giving you a wound. I just think a built in Rez like that shouldn't. It seems intended. -
I really hope that track returns with a full orchestra. That section in the middle has some emotional resonance in it that I think the others don't quite have. It is just epic. I remember Bell listed some of the music he listened to in making the score, and outside of the IE scores he said the Conan the Barbarian with Arnold. That track almost sounds a bit like something I expect to hear there, but it isn't. I never placed where its inspiration came from. I just know I want more like that.

What really shined for me were the Battle themes in Pillars 1, they evoked the IE feeling so much, yet they had their own style. I probably still like the IE main themes more, but this is also pretty good. Agreed. I love The Dragon Thrashed and Wailed. At :42 seconds... Terrific. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhACloVkrbs I also prefer some of the IE stuff. I love Skeleton of a Town from IWD2, for instance. However, those shoes are big to fill, and Bell did an excellent job.

He really facelifted the PoE theme. I personally think his score was my favorite part of the first game, and I am glad to hear that he didn't underachieve this go around either. Justin Bell is a true asset to Obsidian. I said it after PoE launched, and I will say it again... Bell took the IE games musical style and simultaneously made it his own and allowed it to lay down the tone of Pillars. I am pretty excited to get some FLAC files for the ride to work.

3rd tier Druid Wildstrike upgrades all look so good. I want to make a single class Shifter with Shock Wildstrike and interrupt stuff. -
Leonard Boyarsky was the lead of Bloodlines, right? You have my vote. Yes, and he and Cain made Fallout and Arcanum too. They both have stellar track records for cRPGs. Albeit sometimes the Troika stuff was rough around the edges. They were still fantastic in their own way.

Copper Dreams is another one.

Can our sacred cows be Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky? We should go ask the Codex for their permission.

Yeah, I agree on Rangers for sure they look like Multiclass only ATM, at least to me. Maybe the same with Rogues. Also, I am actually surprised the Wizard subclasses made it in the core game in that state. Although they habe a lot of spells the do no have enough to justify you losing roughly 2/5s of the spells in each level, and get increased casting times on all spells they can cast but their preferred school of spells. Their bonus is paltry to sacrifice so much. I said it in another thread. Preferred school bonus is fine. Their special abilities are ok, but some are better than others. They shouldnt lose two schools, but maybe one. I would have 1 school they cant cast, the other has increased cast times, and the other two should have no bonus or malus applied to them. Other than that, I agree the other classes all look solid. -
Yep, which is why banding about insults on either is most comical. But oh well, people here. Fair enough. I have had my foot in the Codex door every little bit, and am just getting snowblind coming back over here because of the sentiment toward Feargus and Josh over there. Reality is bending and I'm having trouble separating the two.

He probably knows about as much about MCA as most of us know about Feargus.

I couldnt remember of the monk had that passive or it was the fighter. It's good to know that. Basically, you have a melee equivalent to Power Word Kill that doesnt require any tribute to rnJesus. Or maybe its Pai Mei's five point exploding heart technique. So, my two favorite Poe classes were chanter and monk. I think I'm going to just single class those two on my first 2play throughs , now. I cant wait till Tuesday.

No kidding. That Monk ability that does 500% crit damage is what dreams are made of. 60-80 crush damage, 500% crit damage. I wonder if lash applies to this, if yes then a helwalker with max wounds can cause super high damage with this ability. As you can get +80% lash from lightning strike/burning wheel, 35 Might, thats a 1.8 * 1.75 = 3.15 times of origin damage. 70 * (1+500%) * 3.15 = 1300 damage ouch I wish the options menu could turn gibs off unless that move crits because it actually makes sense. Lol. It's such a beautiful goodbye letter to whatever enemy crosses your path.

Did you use the unofficial patch? It helps a lot. It gets my GoG version chugging along. I have a few issues, but not like the base game.
