  1. Huh, what? You know what's a cash grab? Having to pay the government for the use of public parking lots. Because those aren't optional when I'm going somewhere in my car. Not fastening my seat belt or going over the speed limit is purely optional. You can do it, of course, but don't go and whine when you get caught is what I'm saying. You want to be all manly and buff, fine. Then be all manly and deal with the consequences.
  2. Maybe not, but they tended to make heirs by the bunchload. Queen Victoria had what, nine children and Empress Maria Theresa even 16. Having one or two viable heirs and no branches to pick up the slack seems terribly risky in a medieval society like Westeros.
  3. They give autism to little children who then are cured by Mr. Jim Humble's famous sodium chlorite enemas, the one cure for everything that's being hushed up by the pharma lobby because you just can't patent sodium chlorite. Or do you mean if they should be mandatory, what with herd immunity and all that jazz. In which case the answer would be a resounding yes unless you're part of the paranoid company here or there are actual medical reasons to not get vaccinated (my brother for instance was too weak from prior illness to receive his measles shot and promptly contracted the disease - wasn't very pretty). Because any individual's right to his or her own stupidity ends when they endanger more than themselves by ignorant behaviour. Everything else is actual Nazism, by the by. Survival of the fittest, superior race and medicine being a traditionally Jooish thing. No, seriously. The entire anti-vaxx movement was maybe not started by the Nazis but greatly supported by them (The even made handouts with an obvisously Jewish doctor vaccinating terrified German children and the caption "Gift und Jud tut selten gut" - loosely translated poison and Jews are bad for you): edits: Added the picture and clarified something.
  4. Unfortunately the update does say that those who backed will not be seeing refunds. Sorry to hear that, majestic. Eh, that's fine. I don't spend money on Kickstarter projects expecting refunds if the project goes kaputt and I'm really not going to miss the 50$ I spent on Resurgence.
  5. There's no refund for a failed investment, no. There have been some instances where they were offered, but in this case NGS went bankrupt. There's nothing to get any longer. Comes with the turf and all.
  6. That's one of the strangest things about GRRM's houses in Westeros. They all seem to have been dying out for a while before the books began. The highborn in Westeros trace their ancestry back at least a hundred generations (or more, depending on the source) yet each house has only a handful of heirs at best - and the Houses in the show have, for casting and budgetarian reasons, even less family members.
  7. Got an update today, Project Resurgence, one of the Kickstarters I backed, failed and Nectar Game Studios closed down. Seems like being hearted by MCA isn't enough on its own.
  8. I got a buddy with 700 hours on Rocket League. I spent over 10k hours on World of Warcraft and Star Wars: The Old Republic and some thousands of hours on Quake World and Quake 3 Arena. Apples and oranges a bit, no?
  9. To be entirely fair to the crisis system the unavoidable ones aren't excatly about combat and more like not dying or getting the hell out of the way. Actual combat where you need to kill your enemies to win is far an in between, and completely optional. The truly disappointing part of the game were the companions. I found myself looking up their names just now. Except Erritis I didn't remember a single name, out of a game that came out early this year and I invested 60ish hours in. In comparison I spent less time with Pillars of Eternity that came out more than two years ago and I still remember the companions. *sigh* Like I said, 's not all bad and combat as the sole reason to not touch TToN feels wrong - it never was about that. Not even if inXile had released the game with the features they promised.
  10. Does it suffer the same fate as the first? No, "combat" in TToN actually managed to be worse than in PS:T.
  11. That's sort of the point. Except Euron's fleet having stealth capabilities (and that could be explained away with general incompetence if one is willing to push it that far) nothing that got shown on the show couldn't happen - the reduction in episodes and streamlining of the storylines however does reduce the time to properly set these things up, in a stark - no pun intended - contrast to the earlier seasons that could draw from more source material.
  12. The plot induced teleporting was strong in this episode. Reducing the episode count sure paid off so far. Who needs all that filler setup, eh? Dany's fleet still hasn't learned to post lookouts or do any reconnaissance at all. I also have a nerdish question. Assuming Dragonstone is in the show where it is in the books and Dany split her fleet to go to the Rock and pick up the Dornish army both fleets would have reasonably travelled the same way up until Sunspear (or wherever the Dornish army is). Seems like Grey Worm's fleet teleporter worked slightly faster than Asha's Yara's. Had a good laugh at Archmaester Slughorn telling Harry to be happy with not being expelled. :D edit: Come to think of it, did Olenna travel on Grey Worm's ship?
  13. It'll stay that way except for some flashes of brilliance where everything comes together. 50% off seems like a fair price all things considered. Of course us backers see that a bit differently given the cuts and broken promises, but overall it was interesting enough for me to not be angry with inXile, but I think I'm in the minority there. *shrug*
  14. According to the comments, no - so that would make it the re-cut "new" version of the pilot. The one were they took out the MacGyver reference and Carter's little uhm, speech about her reproductive organs. Never seen that version though, might give it a shake. The speech was kind of over the top but the reference made me smile. Not sure why they thought it was terrible. RDA is MacGyver for us children of the 80ies.
  15. This is what would have happened if Simon & Garfunkle made the title song to A Clockwork Orange: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2NtlTFQznA <3 Ylvis, it's too bad they're mostly known for What Does The Fox Say.
  16. Of course not, you're Volo, you defy classification. It's been like that for what, 16 years now? But even the definition of what constitutes " alt-right " is nebulous, Breitbart has many different types of people who frequent it and they definitely don't all share the same ideological view of things like SJ and the way overall white people are judged or criticised. Some people on Breitbart consider it a refuge from perceived SJ criticism For example what is your definition of someone who is "alt-right " Oh that's simple. The alt-right are the alpha males and their women and everyone else are beta males (lefties and libruhls) or cuckservatives (center/right not quite alt-right) and feminists. *sigh*
  17. Of course not, you're Volo, you defy classification. It's been like that for what, 16 years now?
  18. Must be, the Earth is flat and limited by a dome so there's no way this is on "Mars" or whatever the hell.
  19. Funny how the alt-right nutjobs are just as much obsessed with these things as the libruhls are. Why can't they both just shut up?
  20. Hm, I might really just watch that to see. Heh.
  21. There's something wrong with my brain. Every time I see Sam and Archmaester Marwyn I keep wondering when Marwyn invites him to the Slug Marv Club or yelling "Samwell! I must insist you accompany me back to the castle citadel immediately!" if he finds him with Gilly or someplace he's not supposed to be. That applies to most Harry Potter actors though. When Dumbledore showed up in one of Doctor Who's christmas specials I kept being weirded out through the entire episode.
  22. Well that's never stopped the Targaryens before (or any other royalty in the history of ever).
  23. I've read that theory before, not sure where. There's more secondary text these days than in the books. Apparently the World of Ice and Fire book confirms that Harry the Heir has a distant claim to the North, but I have never seen the family tree in that book. Might be petty but I refuse to get it (or any of the other side anthology projects) until the main series is finished. I doubt that it's part of Lord Baelish's direct plan though, I mean Sansa currently has the best claim to Winterfell and therefore the North. He just wants Harry to marry Sansa because Harry's essentially a miniature Robert Baratheon and he thinks he can be the grey eminence in that setup. So that's also why he creates a fake Arya for Ramsay and his dogs to play with - Sansa has a better claim and can expose Jeyne Pool if necessary after all. So really the only thing he wants Harry for is the only army not spent and ravaged by years of war. *shrug*
  24. Good old Outcast. Back then I was one of the few guys at school who actually had a computer able to run that game in its full glory and it was gorgeous. It's a bit of a shame the remaster is the same game in a standard 3D engine. Might have been nice to see the game running in something else than 512x384 (or 1024x786 with the later high-res mod).
  25. This thread makes me want to rewatch it.
