  1. Except it's not. /quakefanboy.
  2. I don't know, considering the gross overpopulation I'd say it's more selfish to actually produce tiny little bastards. We need less people on the planet, not more. For the good of literally everyone and everything.
  3. Except it's not, but that is a whole different can of worms and wouldn't really belong into a political thread anyway. But it's a very human trait, looking for patterns and order where there might be none.
  4. Its relevant insofar as people can think one thing, and then years later change their minds and think another thing. *GASP* Also, people are stupid and gullible, as evidenced by the approximate 3.8 BILLION Christians and Muslims that CURRENTLY belive in a sky overlord. BTW, has the worldwide infection rate of AIDS increased or are you just locked onto Africa since that specific place has had an AIDS rate increase? Sure Trump is free to change his mind about something, God knows he does that all the time. It's not about what he said though but about the apparently new policy at the EPA of not bothering with existing asbestos and all that jazz, just proving that Trump hasn't changed his mind about this particular subject. The overall number of new (known) HIV infections is on a slow decline since the late 2000s but the disease is still a huge issue and far from no longer as problematic as predicted just because it's no longer a death sentence in the West. The article's statement is true from a rather limited point of view...
  5. Even the best infrastructure won't solve physical realities - if you play on a remote server on a device that does nothing but stream the game's output and relay inputs there's going to be input lag. And that becomes noticable VERY quickly. Sure certain sort of games can make it look like that doesn't matter that much through pacing and good client code (which there won't be any) like most MMOs but the idea of playing Quake with a 30+ms delay after I click on the mouse? Ah hell, no way.
  6. Hurry up and watch this video before it gets banned by the rich.
  7. When I was that age our school took us on a yearly trip to an NGO helping recovering addicts by providing them with housing and small time jobs to help their recovery and possible return to society. We had a chance to interact with them, hear their stories and how it happened that they got addicted. That was much better than any silly film about drugs we were shown. Hyperbole and overblown fearmongering is not really necessary. We also learned up-front that the ideas of gateway drugs was silly. None of them had progressed to heroine abuse from a joint or two.
  8. Which is relevant to the asbestos evaluation just how? Not to mention how ignorant that article really is when it states that "AIDS will get worse" as false. *cough* Africa *cough*
  9. No, he quit in 2016. But he opened a restaurant, so if you wanna grab some food and are somewhere near Vancouver... Thankfully, that's nowhere near my half of the globe, so I guess I'm safe. Actually... the place is very highly rated.

  11. If I had any faith left that Martin will finish the books in his lifetime I'd skip the last season in a heartbeat. It'll be the only form of closure A Song of Ice and Fire gets. And with that... I simply need to watch it. Heck, I'd watch it if they replaced the showrunners with Uwe Boll. I don't want to end up like scorchiebeanie, poor bastard.
  12. Not sure if the books are really overrated. They only really had cult-like following with a lot of notable contributors due to Martin's quite excellent world building and tendency to set up plot twists with little details long before they happen. The real hype only started after Season 1 was a smash hit for HBO and the only book to come out since then was A Dance With Dragons and that received very mixed reactions from the fanbase. It's also way too easy to forget that the first three books came out 20 years ago. It's been a while and entertainment's changed in general. A lot, and not always for the better, but that's a different can of worms.
  13. MMOs are cheap per hour played. Assuming you would otherwise spend the time playing normal priced games you'd probably end up with a net win in the end.
  14. Feargus probably messed it up in between waltzing through the offices collecting high fives.
  15. Paradox apparently acquired HBS. Or as the HBS guys put it, they've joined the Paradox family. "Yay" or so.
  16. I will, if or when I feel like playing an MMO again. It's not going to be a for a while though, I guess.
  17. But muh Classic was haadkoah! Yeah, not really. It was just slow. Which is what Kungen liked about it apparently. Well, it wasn't even that slow when compared to the other MMOs out at the time. Getting to max level in Everquest took longer than it took to clear all WoW content in Classic... The evolution of WoW is pretty interesting. From really easy endgame that just took ages to do for design reasons - and Blizzard's inexperience in designing bosses that actually worked - to actually hard content that can be cleared in a short time.
  18. Speaking of the Coffee Shop, I found an old transcript while looking for the Lord Jim screenshot. It's a minor exchange that I copy/pasted, no screenshots sadly. =/ 'Twas a fun situation when Yrkoon found out that Lady Ayanami aka Goldenbell had more, uhm, land down south than she should have. *cough* The Goldenbell Fallout! Starring: Redrake as the Romanian dense lawyer Tingeling as the initiator Yrkoon as the fooled one Maji as the one who warns Fluffy Doc, as he who once was Goldenbell The location: Tarna’s Coffee Shop The time: 10:57 PM The dense lawyer enters the room and leaves the door open, and, as usual, blunts into the already ongoing conversation. A debate has been raging so far about how to deal with Andy the Internet Troll. Redrake: I'm not signing that. I'm the one who informed Andy about the existence of this board in the first place. Tingeling (to Redrake): Why am I not suprised by one worthless waste of space bringing others of its kind? Maji (to Redrake): I always knew that Andy was too dumb to be for real, but that it is an alt of you is... surprising, to say the least. This round goes to the blunt gardening tool. Redrake, wittingly replying to Tingeling: Because you are one yourself? Tingeling, retorting: The wit, it doth truly burn like no other! Keep honkerin' with the one-liners, bud. Redrake: Get real! I'm not trolling with a wet-behind-ears anime lover. Get back to your Goldenbell fanclub. Fluffy Doc (addressing nobody in particular): for once I agree with the lawyer (editor’s note, in the ongoing conversation were three – 3 – lawyers involved). Yrkoon (to the gathered group): !!! Now there's a blast from the past. What happened to our lovley Lady Ayanami/Goldenbell anyway? Maji: Before I answer, I shall ask you: Do you really want to know? Tingeling (to Yrkoon): Oh man, there's a story that really should be left dead and buried, lest its stupidity infect you, too. Yrkoon, not heeding the warnings: Yes. Maji (to Yrkoon): Goldenbell's real name is Tim. Do I need to go on? Yrkoon: GAH!!! Maji: Well, just don't say you haven't been warned. Redrake, too late as always: Let's just say that I didn't call Fluffy the resident transvestite without a reason. Maji (to Redrake): Stop trying to profile yourself as the harbinger of information. Why do you post this redundant nonsense?
  19. I have a screenshot around here somewhere with a post from him from when he banned The Pope.
  20. Finished Yoga Fire. Loved the setting, the looks, the music and the questing. Much better than the first one. Not enough press X for awesome in the game?
  21. I bought Elex and got Rime in the process, I'd call that a win.
  22. Heppner > u.
  23. We had to fight hard to prevent Interplay from axing the entire Fallout section and every other day someone else from the community became mod and tried to reign them in. Speaks volumes when they were perfectly willing to keep YoP and it's myriad political flame wars (speaking of which, remember Yrkoon and Crucis?) but would have almost ditched the Fallout forums after that. Fun times indeed.
  24. Don't worry old man. In your case it's true. edit: Lord Jim was Interplay's original site admin when they closed down the BIS board. He started banning people left and right and told them to screw themselves if they had a problem. Interplay removed him from his post rather quickly, but he certainly didn't help during the transition phase...
