  1. I'd think it'd depend on why the graphics were bad as to whether its a justified criticism. I don't need fancy graphics in a game, but it can be possible for graphics to be a hinderence to enjoyment, I think. Absolutely. Modern graphics have changed the way games are written. You don't need a character to spell out their feelings if they can emote convincingly. If Alpha Protocol can't deliver on that premise, if the technical aspects are off, it's going to detract from the overall success of the story.
  2. Public transport s'not for canoodling on. That's a sure fire way to get your railcard revoked. Seriously, I've heard tell of this railway rape fetish in Japanese fiction before. Where d'you think it comes from?
  3. They did a pretty bitchin' cover of Knives Out if I'm not mistaken.
  4. I laughed earlier and pulled a muscle in my back. I wouldn't mind but it wasn't even that funny. Geez!
  5. Legacy's teaser trailer premiered recently. Raithe, I agree. Although I suppose Sam Flynn is Jet's substitute, and the film does have him enter the computer world to find his dad, kinda like 2.0.
  6. No ones talking about Tron? What is with you people?!
  7. Well, when you put it like that. Final Fantasy: The Many Ages of Bowie
  8. Have you checked the examples I provided? I would really like to know which are these games you talk about, because in my years of gaming all JRPGs had the same structure of the PC being "special" or as we say on the West: The Chosen One. FF breakdown of the effeminate villain: FFVI- The first years after playing it I though Kefka was a woman he's a man FFVII- Sepiroth with his long flowing hair and bishounen features doesn't look the least effeminate to you? FFVIII- Seifer Almasy, who looks like David Bowie. FFX- Seymour Guado Seifer is as brawny and manly a specimen as you'll come across in FF8. FF9s Kuja is a better example, I think. I mean, the dude wears hotpants! Androgyny is pretty commonplace in most JRPGs. I'd prefer a happy compromise between femininity and rugged beefiness but hey, that's just me. Incidentally, HCBailly just began his FF8 Let's Play. Promises to be good fun.
  9. Eurogamer Hands-On. Hm, they sound unsure of what to make of it.
  10. DX2 wasn't a bad game by any stretch. It had the misfortune of being the sequel to Deus Ex, is all.
  11. Hey hey! L.A. Noire is seeing an inferior xbox release. Add that to my pile, someone.
  12. I'm cautiously optimistic that the Deus Ex bumhole will be treated with respect.
  13. Splinter Cell: Conviction Red Dead Redemption Alpha Protocol LeChuck's Revenge: Special Edition Fable 3 Fallout 3: New Vegas Deus Ex 3 Mass Effect 3 ... Oh, and Half Life 2: Episode 3. Give us something, Valve!
  14. Green Zone. Obviously, much of it is fictitious and the thriller aspect comes first and foremost but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The climax, a frenetic twenty minute foot-chase across Baghdad, really is something. Seriously, it wore me out. Awesome score too. Almost as awesome as the handlebars Jason Isaacs sports. Anyway, where are all the Tron-heads at?! The teaser trailer was the cats pyjamas. Actually, something the director said really struck a chord with me. I'm fascinated by Clu's role in all this. CG-Bridges looks incredible.
  15. Good news everyone! Also, great thread.
  16. Sometimes you eat the bar and sometimes ...well, he eats you.

  17. Man, Dostoevsky made a career out of nihilism and none of it positive.
  18. I'm surprised FF8 is ranking so highly. What is with you screwballs? So, I completed Fable 2. The main plot is a bit of damn squib ...but honestly, I find Albion so likeable a world, I don't much mind. At least there I can score with chicks!!
  19. Sure, BioWare's no Obsidian in the writing stakes, but they're no Bethesda either. They're good at what they do. Anyway, I'm terrible at distinguishing good graphics from bad ...except with Dragon Age, which is fugly. I'd rather Obsidian devote their time to bug hunting than graphical tomfoolery, but that's just me.
  20. Oh, he's no actor. He's the real deal.
  21. FF13. Its glorious. I dunno. Are the characters likeable in this one?
  22. Is MagnaCarta II worth a damn? My JRPG senses are tingling and it's either that or FFXIII.
  23. I agree. The Normandy SR-2 has toilet//shower functionality. Why? They're never in use. They're not quest related. There's no romp to The Citadel to pick Mess Sergeant Gardner up some sink and plughole unblocker. It's a nice idea and if they've got the development time, sure. But it seems kinda a waste of time to me. Honestly, I'm against toilets in all videogames ...possible exception, Duke Nukem 3D.
  24. My 360 gamertag is Heskker Lem. ...I don't know why, it's one of those usernames you regret afterwards.
  25. Well, I consider myself a fan of BioWare. It's why I scrutinize their games so much. For what it's worth, I found ME2 an improvement over the original in almost every conceivable way. I just have some quibbles with the story development, is all.
