The things that gave KOTOR so much personality
Kaftan Barlast replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
This IS very important, usually its ignored and your PC will stride through the game world as an unknown barely noticable nothing, no matter how she/he acts. The game world must react to the PC for the player to feel her PC is alive. But there should be more, like how come the Sith patrols on Taris didnt react when you eitther came running fully armed or had the galaxys most wanted Jedi with you. -

Yuthura Ban is the greatest of all NPCs -
It would be more realistic with a game that spun the entire length of a characters life and not just the brief few weeks it takes her/him to save the galaxy from the ever-present doom. you play the intro as a small child 10 years later you play some levels as a padawan 5 years later you embark on your first tasks as a young jedi 5 years later as a full jedi you embark on the usual quest to save the galaxy from the threat youve seen slowly building in the previos parts of the game. Has this EVER been done in a RPG? I think its a grand idea that would add tons of potential depth to the story and your attachement to your character.

makes me think of The Big Lebowski

I dont like the new Sith lord names because they give me very strong associations that overshadow any other aspect of the name. Nihilism (n.) Nothingness; nihility. (n.) The doctrine that nothing can be known; scepticism as to all knowledge and all reality. (n.) The theories and practices of the Nihilists. Sion Holy mountain in ancient Israel This one leads me directly onto Sionism the movement for the return of the Jewish people to their homeland and the resumption of Jewish sovereignty in the Land of Israel It would be nice if it was a perk at the Israel/Palestine situation, but I think its just the old "dont know what it means but it sounds cool" thing.

A female Sith Lord would be a fresh breeze to scatter some peoples idioticly sexist views on things.

The weird and wonderful world of art
Kaftan Barlast replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Way Off-Topic
Vladimir Illitj Lenin, first dicator of the Soviet union. Actually it was a joke, we'd been watching some splatterfilms and I promised I would make a mask of flesh... The details didnt come through very well, the meat sagged and stretched in some places so it didnt shape properly. You would probably need a front mold also for that. -
I just found this old picture of a piece I did in artschool. Look at it and tell me if you think I should be commited. (in case of broken link cut&paste: http://files3.helgon.net/Gallery/{3A4/{3A4...D4A096B39}.jpg) The face of Lenin - In meat I did it by stitching together chunks of beef and placing them upon a concrete cast of Lenins face to shape it. Then I covered it in several coats of polyurethane laquer to properly conservate it. Unfortunantly, it slowly decayed under the period of a few weeks and no trace now remains.

What if force powers were alignment-bound?

What if force powers were alignment-bound?
Kaftan Barlast replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
In SW there is no middle road, there is no neutral way to use the force so you can either try to restrain yourself like a good Jedi or give in and embrace power of the darkside. And it doesnt matter with what intent you use your example force lightning, its a darkside power that feeds of your negative emotions and the more you use it the further down the spiral you go. This would happen even with the idea that the force itself is "neutral" and the light/dark aspect is in the wielder. My systems main point is to merge the stale level-up system with roleplaying. Ideally, how you act defines your character in every way and the progression would be completely automated. You act darkside, you become darkside, if you talk your way out of danger, your..uhm.. social skills increase. Now, I understand that many people like being able to choose whichever force power they want and enjoy purchasing together statistics but I dont. -

The ridiculous thing about Jolee is that he is very clearly LS -
Throne of Bhaal does it in the one of the versions that includes both Bg2+ToB, its quite practical.

What if force powers were alignment-bound?
Kaftan Barlast replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
One "flaw" would of course be that no neutral path could exist. There could be different levels of light and dark but no truly neutral option. I feel that the way things were meant in Star Wars, is that there exist a clear definition between light and dark where each side has its own benefits but that you must choose, and that choice will determine your continued existence. The further you go down one path the more powerful you'll be but you can never walk two paths at once. And in the films we havent seen, nor will we ever see, a lightside Jedi using darkside powers and vice versa. -
Game Designer Diary

Because he knew someone would post the link here as soon as it came up on Gamespot. -
this is a purely theoretical topic since its way too late for it to be implemeted in the game. I just had the idea if i would have designed a SW RPG I would have made the aquisition of force powers bound to the alignment progression of the character, the power of these forces would be controlled by the level. So one could not develop heal until one was farside LS, and you cant develop drain life unless you go far down the darkside. If you were a level 10 Sith you could blow of some lightning, if you were level 20 you could let it rip like the emperor. As it is now, the simple FP penalty of using the other sides powers is just illogical if one would take the films as standards. If one would have this system, along with an actually meaningful way to play DS(that wasnt all about bullying people and taking their money), I think it would make for a much more interesting role-playing experience.
