What you've been drinking lately.
Perhaps I might be less than super enthusiastic about this faux gold foil, shrink-wrapped across the top of each Negra Modelo bottle. A pair of hedge trimmers could not remove every fleck stuck around the part where you're supposed to put your mouth. The brew itself isn't bad, not amazing, but not bad. It is no scotch ale, which was unavailable for some ungodly reason.

Marvel pulls out of SDCC
After seeing some great cosplay photos (KITT!) and a decent creator's alley at last month's Long Beach Comic Expo--not to be confused with Long Beach Comic Con in September--I'm going to pull out of SDCC, too, and hit up the LBC. San Diego is reserved for people who know industry people who get tickets without having to literally win a lottery.

Odd questions
Where is Walsingham, anyway.

What's on the idiot box... Part 3
Thor hosting SNL tonight. Chris Hemsworth, first seen by anyone everywhere as George Kirk, James T. Kirk's father in the 2009 film ... how in god's name am I going to stay awake ... three more hours ... maybe if I take a nap now ...

Jewish Student's character questioned based on her faith
The art installations there and at MCA La Jolla are a bigger draw for me. I'm not a card-carrying member of the museum anymore, but that's because I need beer money nowadays.

Whatever, weirdos, UCSD has a whole library named after Dr. Seuss.

I guess they want combat to be over this fast or have they said anything about slowing it down a bit more? The Q&A after the gameplay answers this.

What you did today
Ohmigosh I just had a torta yesterday with machaca, avocado, refried beans, and I had them add papitas, little potatoes. It was amazing, but there is not enough gaseous bodies in the galaxy to make up for the wind from that sandwich.

The Weird, Random, and Interesting things that Fit Nowhere Else Thread..
I guess sometimes the bread lands buttered-side up. I was just dipping Ruffles with ridges into a plastic saucer filled with hummus, because delicious, and all of sudden post-dip the whole container jumped off the glass desktop, bounced into my lap, slid down my pant leg, and landed on the mat below my monitor right-side up without spilling a single spec of hummus. Maybe there is a god afterall.

What's on the idiot box... Part 3
I know, right, my favorite part of TNG and TOS is the naval officer command structure. It's the perfect authoritarian backdrop to all the crazy sci-fi scenarios ... whatever happens, you know the Federation has a contingency plan or a UCMJ to keep things real and moral and fair. As I recall, that sort of thing is largely absent in the other Trek TV series.

What's on the idiot box... Part 3
Holy high military naval drama, Captain. Replete with secret orders, an onboard Admiral, mutiny, wildly illegal internal Federation machinations, and an utterly convincing Romulan Warbird Captain. Episode 12, Season Seven, Star Trek: The Next Generation ... The Pegasus. Terry O'Quinn as a vengeful Admiral Pressman--I'll never look at John Locke's character the same. Directed by LeVar, naturally, which explains the badassery. I had almost given up on Season Seven being a dopey swan song ... nope.

What you did today
Would love to air some grief involving local mid-eighties temperatures, low-twenties humidity, and a bacon-searing UV index today, but then I see what weather is like on the east coast and I feel no grief, just relief. Hardy har har, frozen suckers. This sunburn is killing me.
