Woot! Good news!

Ok everyone. These are your new orders. Every backer needs to donate, at minimum, $2. With over 71K backers we can do this.

Just upped from $508 to $1,008. No more.. I'm broker then broke. Time to go stock up on ramen for the next 2 months.

I am still looking for official word about whether you can upgrade your pledge by combining what you contributed through Paypal and Kickstarter. I can only donate so much through Kickstarter because you can only use one payment method for that contribution. I want to donate through Paypal to upgrade my pledge. Is there any official word that this is possible?

To answer you, no. The $8 extra is not counting towards a reward.

Yes, but why is the journey (as indicated by quantum of donations) stopping just shy of the castle? If we follow your line of reasoning, then the journey to the castle should end at 3.5m. I'm not saying they're not planning to go beyond 3.5m - perhaps even adding one final stretch goal - I just don't think the castle was intended at all to reflect ideas for an additional in-game feature. Ok, I get your point. But seeing the ominous castle at the very end just makes it kinda intriguing... It intrigues me too. Nothing like making a wild guess as to what they will offer. Something nice? Nothing but a thank you for helping them put more money into expanding what they are already planning? I will be grateful either way, but the castle does lead one to speculate what they could do.

Seems to me like an added boss lair, or some part of the quest system that would lead you to exploring it's depths to find what horrors it holds. And also, what possible secrets may be hidden inside, just waiting for some unwary adventurer to stumble upon.

But, is this a new, made-up goal, or is something they had already planned out for certain milestones way beyond what they thought they might get? If this is something to try and raise more funds then I would agree with you. Don't make up more stuff and use extra funds to improve upon the world at large. But, if this is something they had planned, but didn't think the funds would ever get procured, then I say go for it.

So right now they are either A) writing up an update, or B) teasing us with the castle until we reach the $3.5 million milestone on the kickstarter website.

They already changed the picture. There is now a dark castle at the end of the road.

Guessing... A $4 million goal. To what it will lead to in the end, I must wait for the update.

I think being part of the setting/lore would be great, but not sure if I would aim for quest related material. Put an Order building/fortress/monastery/mansion somewhere and call it a day for starters. If they need plot or story hooks some day, they can always return to it and expand on the idea. Maybe quests related to uncovering the lore behind the Order? "I have been researching a long lost order: The Obsidian Order. I need your help in uncovering the mystery behind this order, and how it vanished." Then it goes into tracking down little pieces and putting together the clues to what happened. Maybe not in the first game, but maybe in the expansion. As for me, I wouldn't mind anything, but a mention in the game (through lore or other means) would be appreciated, but not necessary. Just donating for the cause is enough. (I did vote, and I have signed up to join after donating the $8. Just waiting for the tag.)
