Iran definitively showed that it could hit Israeli military installations and that the various missile defense Israel uses aren't ironclad. There is no question that if Israel continues to escalate that it can and will be targeted. The media has been **** on Israel for quite some time, going just by tone you'd think over the past year it was over 40k Israelis that have been killed and like 1.5k Palestinians rather than the other way around. And that was before the invasion of Lebanon and Iran's missile strike, in the coming days it's going to go back and forth between Israel being a hyper-compotent juggernaut swatting away missiles like flies to Israel being a small little baby who needs big daddy Burgerstan to come in and defend it.

I don't know if the US will directly attack Iran, but I'd say it's a lot more likely now. Whatever the case, it's almost certain that US bombs will hit Iran via Israel, and given Israel's actions over the last year I'd be surprised if they didn't target civilians. And not to lionize Iran or anything, but this "unprecedented" missile barage hit all military targets, which is a pretty notable difference than Israel's massacre in Gaza or invasion of Lebanon. Iirc, Iran said it would light every oil field in the region on fire if its oil was targeted.

Honestly I'd be more likely to do DIO. It was on while I was sleeping, so it probably has done at least some level of psychic damage. Nothing I've seen of it makes it look particularly worth watching, it's not visually appealing and I've taken your word that the "canon" Sailor Moon is pretty bad to the point of making BLACK LADY or Pedosus look wholesome. Maybe one day I'll get paralyzed and have to endure it until it gets turned off. Anyways....I don't care if any of yall rewatch JoJo or whatever without telling me so much as you enjoy it. I can eat that up so I'd probably catch up quickly.....welll probably can't beat @InsaneCommander but he hasn't been around in a minute. Hope he's alright. Also, finished Hell's Paradise s1. It's getting into the more obnoxious Shonen stuff like TRAINING for POWER LEVEL but the monster design and aesthetics are still really good so I'll probably keep going if s2 is ever made.

I guess we'll have to bring out the pitchforks ourselves. And I do think we really got to go after the media, because their delusional bothsides nonsense is how a bunch of people end up believing in nonsense like unprecedented crime waves or millions and millions of rapefugees coming in to eat the dogs or executing infants or even horse**** like trickle down are things worth serious debate instead of needing to be treated the same way as flat earthers. For all the braindead conservatives wail about being persecuted by the media if the bastions of journalism weren't working double time to sanitize them they'd have been relegated to the dustbin of history decades ago.

Woosh, I did not pay attention to the previews at all. It was in the fourth film and I actually do think the ending lands as being over. For me the village did feel like watching Evangelion, strip away the robots and religio-techno-babble and it ultimately is about the crippling loneliness that can result from the unknowable gulf that exists between people. And the village was sort of a more positive spin on it, with Shinji, Rei, and Asuka learning to accept that and grow in different ways. Part of what makes the last hurrah work is we get to see them develop in a way they couldn't in the previously cramped rebuilds....but I do think it relies on you having watched NGE to really vibe with as well. The ending where beeg tiddy waifu and finally adult Shinji run away from the hell of the Evas was pretty satisfying as an ending to the saga. It certainly works better than Shinji becoming (part of) a god or some definitive thing where both the Angels and HIP/SEELE/Deadbeat Dad were defeated by Evas. I actually like that the end is these people who have been stuck as teenagers for decades exploring a new world instead of doing an epilogue that showed us just what happened to the gang in the post-Eva world. Anyways I started watching Hells Paradise and....it's ok. I can vibe with the looks of the show and think monster design is good but it could teeter into dumb shonen quickly so I'll just have to see.

I think that ultimately my favorite part is the extended Shinji depression (and re-entry into the world) in the last movie, because it's probably a better illustration of how coping with grief looks and feels like than going to HIP therapy or turning the world into orange liquid.

Rewatch of Rebuild of Evangelion So now in general I think it gets better as it goes on, with 1.11 being a mostly superfluous redo of the first few episodes of the series and 2.22 trying to condense 15 or so episodes into a 2> hour movie. 3.33 feels like the arc Kaworu should have had in the series instead of a single episode and 3.0+1.01 is as satisfying ending to the saga as we're going to see and hits different notes than EoE or Omedetou to feel worthwhile. The main criticisms I had still stand though. On a technical level EoE can't be beaten by the cgi heavy Angels or headless nude bodies in the anti-universe, it just isn't nearly as visually appealing. It's also pretty much required that you be familiar with NGE and EoE to really get, Rebuild doesn't stand on it's own. And lastly....it's clear they flew by the seat of their pants making this. I still enjoyed it though and it'll probably be a part of any future rewatches of Evangelion.

Street Fighter (1994) It's a bad movie. Kind of in the middle of just being bad to being a "good" bad movie, solely on the back of Raul Julia's performance. Take that out and it's ****ing awful, irredeemable garbage. I also recently watched a horror movie but I already forgot it.

I think that Trump would have happened without Trump, so to speak, but it is pretty funny that the guy who seized the growing nationalistic reaction to NeoCons and Neoliberalism is a New York real estate weirdo rather than someone like Meatball Ron or Lying Ted or one of the other GOP "up and comers" from the early-mid 2010s. But it does make sense, the in-house Republican (future) leaders hadn't really broken with the quasi-libertarianism and interventionism that had been party doctrine for decades so someone outside the party machine was needed to break in and realign things to where the base was going.

That snow looks refreshing tbh. Here the weather is a normal 95F/35C after getting a bit colder due to all the rain the last few weeks. Of course Houston is swampland and extremely humid, so the "feels like" temp is closer to 110 F/42C. Which is probably the second hottest summer in my lifetime, only beaten by 2023 and likely only because 2023 was a drought. Completely normal, God's in his heaven all is right with the world. Anyways I've been working way too damn hard and am utterly exhausted.

Ok so after having missed most of the debate while it was going on, I have to say it went largely how I expected. Trump was totally incoherent while Kamala was a mayo sandwich. I don't think that this will really change anyone's mind and wish Kamala would have broken differently than she did, but she's clearly attempting to hold a big tent together. I do very much think that this is going to be a very close race and would not be surprised if Trump wins because the dems lost Muslims, which sounds ****ing insane after the Muslim Ban **** but you gotta admit the dems sure do know how to grab defeat from the jaws of victory. I think the biggest surprise was honestly Trump's appearance, he's clearly doing work to not seem as old and the result was uncanny in a very bad way. Between the obvious dye job and whatever drug ****tail they pumped into him before getting on stage it made him look and act much weirder than he would as just an almost octogenarian, and not just because of the nonsense. We can and should laugh at the nonsense like "they're eating the dogs" or "transgender operations on illegal aliens in prison" but I found it very sad. If he wasn't a gigantic piece of **** I'd honestly feel very sad for Trump, his children and other clingers are letting him embarass himself because they know without him they're completely irrelevant. I can see it in a few cases, like weighing whether they can pull the lever for Kamala despite being disgusted with the dems or are still hoping for the Human Instrumentality Project to happen. But I don't see how someone could be on the fence about Trump, it's been a decade and everyone knows who he is by now, everyone I know either LOVES or HATES him, there is no in-between. Dr Pepper? I didn't know you were from Texas. Anyways, I think that Israel really doesn't want peace and that it would be political suicide for any political figure there to campaign on it. Israel is getting very nationalistic because those settlements are pretty much the perfect incubator to turn people into fascists and settlements are growing rapidly because they're much cheaper than paying rent in Tel Aviv. They may be forced into peace, not because of Donald Trump scaring Hamas or Kamala's weird auntie laugh, but because the IDF is getting worn out at doing actual fighting and Israel's military may not be able to stand even with tons of US support.

Right now it would not surprise me if Trump wins because Kamala lost by the hair that is Muslim voters. 3. I'm probably not going to watch it lmao. Look, if you've seen one Trump debate you've seen them all. He's going to spew tons of horse**** which is going to be sanitized by the media to not make him look completely unhinged. I do not think Kamala is going to say anything noteworthy, if she does I'll be pleasantly surprised browsing tonight or tomorrow. 4. I think that Kamala really needs to hit him on abortion and labor, where he is extremely vulnerable. To boot, the dems need to come out against the car dealerships, that's THE Republican base and they're almost universally reviled by anyone who has to interact with them. It's time to go after the Republican base in the same way Republicans go after unions. 5.

Neon Genesis Evangelion and End of Evangelion - I have the Third Impact song stuck in my head. Does this hold up? Absolutely, no question. There's something disturbing about seeing the classic animation before CGI was an option, and honestly it's ****ing terrifying. There's just something so raw about it...I can honestly emphasize with Gendo now in a way I couldn't before and that's ****ing me up. Not afraid to admit I cried at the omenitau sequence and by god I think that's a near perfect ending. Anyways I guess I'll see how I take the rebuilds whenever I get to them again.

An American Werewolf In London (1981) A componently made horror flick that has no poetry in it's soul. Perhaps as a viewer I am tainted with the knowledge Landis is a piece of **** (sorry to insult excrement by comparing it to Landis) but I found the film to be hollow. It's pretty but I find it lacking, I think it just lacks substance to make it anything more than 20 minutes of Werewolf with over an hour of an unlikeable **** floating through Jolly Olde England. Mulholland Drive (2001) - KP rewatch I don't know how many times I've seen this film, but I think this time made me think of my father a lot. If Naomi Watts had only made this film she would deserve to be remembered as an actress of a generation, the shift between bright-eyed up and coming starlet to a battered and tired woman bitter about having been abandoned by everything brings echoes of Ergo Proxy's examination of raison d'etre. Glued together by Lynch's trademarked surrealism, this dream reminds us of the hell of waking up. Not as iconic for me as Lost Highway, but still one of the best films ever made.

Actually I think Trump is a good model here, make Twitter a containment like whatever Trump's Twitter fork is called and let them spiral in their own containment box. Let them spend hours posting instead of bothering others.
