  1. http://www.thesaurus.com/browse/bastard Synonyms. The ------ Bastard That makes it get it's own title and deviates from the "Black Isle Bastards". The Bastards Bastard xD
  2. Actually I like the line of thinking there. We are the "bastards" so our ship should be some kind of the worst, worse, UBER, whatever bastard. I don't know if there is an appropriate term for that. But the line of thinking would be that our ship is the "worst" or "biggest" bastard of all of us. There you go... the ships name... The Biggest Bastard xD
  3. So confusing, too many bastards on that tiny isle! You don't get it... this is THE Bastard... Can the Ship itself be a Crew member? The ship IS the Captain??? xD
  4. What if the ship was called... "The Bastard" We are the bastards! Bastards of the seeeaas~! I'll work on something xD
  5. A) http://www.elizabethan-era.org.uk/famous-pirate-ships.htm There's a lot of different types there~ but I'd say a small pirate ship. Maybe a Square Rig. B) I'm fine with anything, The Black Bead, The Black Smoke, The Black Death etc. etc. The Blackfire C) Eothas destroyed it! Rum rum rum rum rum rum rum rum Rum rum lovely rum!
  6. +10 Might +10 Constitution -5 Intellect -5 Resolve -5 Dexterity -5 Perception Lasts for 300 seconds. When the duration ends, character is "Knocked Out".
  7. This is also public speculation, open suggestion, might as well inspire one another, or both draw inspiration from the same or similar source. Of course, could just be hivemind telepathy too.
  8. It fits with Chanter. But again, if his forehead growth has been cut off, it could be "disadvantaged underclass" as well. Or some "Upper Class" shenanigans and it was cut off to keep him there? *shrug* maybe it's not cut off at all he just has a different type of growth. I don't think he's in the warrior or priest caste though. It's just speculation.
  9. Lol, I was just going to point out the flute that gromnir brought up, and of course saw the quote as well
  10. Or is it cut off? Notice the difference: Cutting off the "growth" would leave such a scar, no, or too far-fetched? What caste does he belong to? Underclass or in the upper echelon as a skilled artisan (being a Chanter)?
  11. Haha, wild freestyle idea here (not to be taken seriously)... merging Black Isle (Island), Bastards (Crew), Ship (Unnamed), Sword (Item) The Black Isle is a Sword. And within the reflection of the sword, lies a dark cursed secret. Anyone who is cut by its blade, will find themselves ill and sick for days and weeks, degenerating incrementally, until falling flat down, dead. Wherever in the world they are, their soul will find itself to the black steel of the Black Isle. It has the power to possess weak-minded men, to grow and foster its already large Crew, it Sails from man to man, hand to hand, as one after the other falls to its ways. If you gaze long enough into the steel, you'll see an island reflected behind you, a pitch black island, but turn around... and it is gone. It is when the shadows begin to appear, looming out of the island like a dark twisted mist towards you, then you will know it is already too late. ... Hm, this sparks another question... will there be Cursed Items in Deadfire?
  12. https://www.fig.co/campaigns/deadfire?update=256#updates Moon Godlike == Ondra Godlike Would actually be a bit cooler to have the Diety names instead of "Death Godlike" it'd be "Berathian Godlike", "Magran Godlike" for Fire, "Hylean Godlike" for Avian etc. etc. or does the pantheon need more real time to establish in people's mind? (then again, Paladin orders and Priest orders are named thematically) Fins are physical properties, and the white moon on the forehead is strange indeed. His name was Tahua? Takua? Another thing to note, all the portraits in Pillars of Eternity have Crescent Moons... is a full moon a different state, enlightenment, or just rank in the caste system? Update #09: Lore: @gromnir: Nice catch! I saw someone else saying "He's got a wand", but now that you're saying it, it's possibly a flute, because Chanter! That'd be rad as hell (because that'd mean, possibly, lute and harp as well).
  13. Not that they are Frequently Asked Questions but, general information, developer comments, "Information": This is relevant (About Pirate Crew & Ship): This quote is un-sourced, so it could be anyone on the team (I'm assuming Adam Brennecke continuation): The Pirate Crew & Ship are, I guess, about 5-6 Characters which you can meet. I was wondering if Obsidian could just simply make the 4-8 NPC's be the Pirates? In essence: If we reach $5000 for the Pirate Crew, I would be totally okay to leave everything in Obsidian's hands/control to incorporate it best, but still stay open to suggestion. EDIT: Positions and Duties on Board a Pirate Ship (all the descriptions for each position is copy+pasted below, I removed links though)
  14. I want it, and have been wanting it since before the Backer Beta for Pillars 1. So, yeah... The reason and response why it wasn't in at the time then was "It looks wonky" and it didn't look good "Speed Power walking" (or something like it) and there's probably other logistical issues (bugs and glitches, what happens if you enter a fight, and walk toggle is on, what happens if you toggle walk/run during combat, what happens if you enter a door with walk toggle). It's another thing to code. My requests for it would be: - Don't make it power walking/speed walking. The Player doesn't have to be faster than everybody else (Gosh how this annoys me in Elder Scrolls Online, because you walk about 10%-15% slower than NPC's, but you run 300% faster). This is purely roleplaying, and serves no mechanical purpose (which is why it's not a priority to develop for Obsidian), and it doesn't matter whether the Player walks slow, make them walk at the same pace and speed as all the NPC's do in the world. - You already have the walk animation frames for NPC's, is it possible to use that? - In Deadfire it'll look less wonky because weapons are sheathed this time around (which is absolutely awesome!)
  15. Awesome! Add it into the FAQ. We probably have some sort of deadline (if it's aimed to ship Q1 2018, I'm somewhat expecting Q3-Q4 but we'll see about that at a later stage) Have we started discussing the different/various positions of the pirates? E.g. Captain, Navigator etc.
  16. ^I tried bringing it up several times but no response. Nothing on the monthly subscription thing either (I mean, we could easily pay for the Pirate Crew if we had a couple of more months on us to make the payment, I'm in a safe position with my job so I could easily pay $200 a month. And if others helped too we could have paid it by June-July. But no response).
  17. This! I was thinking about it the other day, and how awesome wouldn't it be if you could see a list of custom map markers on the World Map interface? E.g. Notes, Tooltip~ when you hover over a location on the World Map, you'd see a list. Maybe you encountered a tough foe and you can't fight it at the time, so you leave a map marker. But on the World Map interface you wouldn't see it. That's what I'm suggesting. Example: - Mouse hover over "Dyrford Crossing" on the World Map - To the side of the location, your notes would appear *Lurkers *Wolves *Egg Etc. - When you enter the map, you'd see the "Lurkers" note where you put it. Would be a really helpful tool!
  18. I want to know more about the types of ships. If Maia Rua is coming from Rauataui with a courtier from the Ranga Nui, it should be a pretty massive battleship? (Kana mentions the cannons in Rauataui) But can the ship be... 3, 4, 5, 6 levels high? How big can the ships be? Also, Drake Riders? (Huana being all blue, far-fetched possible Avatar inspiration? Ikran?) Suikoden (first one) has the element as well, and in Suikoden 5 there's the lake knights riding velociraptors. Speaking of ships and traveling, will the Player have one that they can upgrade? What sort of upgrades? Is there going to be naval combat, and how would it function? Random Encounter, fight ship vs ship RTwP Black Flag style in isometric, or Scripted Event, or ship-to-ship, hull-to-hull, battle scene (Heroes of Might & Magic)? Furthermore, has the World Map Global Turns changed in any significant way, and are there any other new Turn Based elements? And how do we travel on the World Map in Deadfire? Is it: A) The same, BG, BG2, IWD, IWD2, POE, PS:T, you get a map and icons to click (Fast-Travel Map to Map) B) Fallout 1 & 2, you travel over a grid, random encounters can happen C) Divine Divinity, open world map D) Combo. RTwP open world, but can fast travel to discovered locations On lore: - More of a relationship question, about Maia Rua, if you sacrifice Kana Rua during or after Blood Legacy, would she become hostile if she learned what you did to Kana? Would you be able to negate it by having a 2-man party (MC+Kana), thus leaving no witnesses, and neither Eder, Pallegina, or Aloth, would be able to spill the beans to Maia? How would she react? "You DID WHAT!?" *attacks* or would she be like *shrug*? I'm just curious, I haven't played a Cruel character yet, and Kana is one of my favorites, but to shorten the question: Can companions get hostile (figuratively and literally) reactions to your behavior? (Kill enough animals = Eder eventually fights you) - What are the different factions, and what are their various politics, and how does Eothas stirr the pot around? All against one enemy type of unification, Games of Thrones backstabbing and counter-stabbing? Like in New Vegas, are we fed into various factions and can choose different paths? Ally with one faction, fight the other one? - Are there refugees from Dyrwood, what sort of damage and message does Eothas send to Eora, across the whole world and how does it react to it? Like, Messengers who survive in Dyrwood, run to Valia, Ixamitl, spread the news, literally. If that's the case, would the world watch as Eothas rummages about the Deadfire? Usually the games are about 10-12 months in-game time~ give or take (I think I'm on my 8th Month on my main character), how long would it take for a message to be sent across the world in Eora, and how much time would it take before the world stopped watching? Would Valia send in more troops? Zealots and fanatics who hear about Eothas return? I.E. How is the world reacting to Eothas return? - Do our final choices matter, and cause some sort of reaction? Maybe you shouldn't answer that one if you see this one but, well, "Yes/No" if you do
  19. I'm continuing with my first character, Hearth Orlan Barbarian (who happens to be from the Deadfire too). Pallegina, Aloth, and Eder, are coming along too (most playtime with them from Pillars 1). That puts it up to 4... man, now I really want 6 party members I want either Maia Rua (because I dig Kana Rua a lot), or Serafen (Cipher/Barbarian) because he's an Orlan. My main, Byorgh II (the former died during the Backer Beta), is either going to Multi-Class into Fighter, or Cipher. Haven't decided. Barbarian/Rogue maybe.. hmm... does Sneak Attack & Carnage stack? http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/156901222832556251/A505EEBF1A98269E01CD0FCBDEE31BD86BF83E75/ - Melee DPS I'm also working on a Barbarian Dragoon build (with lots of success), with Pike and Plate Armor. Noticed now it's supposed to be Wild Sprint, and not Thick-Skinned also. Great for positioning, and getting that extra range on the Barbarian's Carnage is golden. Can safely stand behind Eder, but also tank well. http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/156901222832591621/24300FCF560E24963A7FB7C60B7FD90F399BD381/ - Melee DPS Tank - Eder being a God Tank, as he is, Fighter/Fighter. Tank/Tank. Level 20 Fighter. Damage - Aloth, Wizard/Priest, without Iselmyr, Wizard/Rogue, with Iselmyr. Level 12 Wizard/Level 8 Priest/Rogue - MC, Barbarian/Rogue, Barbarian/Druid, Barbarian/Cipher, Barbarian/Fighter, Barbarian/Monk. Haven't quite decided. Might try another class completely. Barbarian 16/Other 4 Scout & Support - Serafen, Cipher/Ranger or Cipher/Rogue. Depends on if the Ranger has to have an Animal Companion, or if it's a "Talent" or "Ability". I.E. Beastmaster builds, having 1-4 Pets (get more or make the first one stronger?), or a pure Hunter/Archer build, Bow & Arrow, or maybe even a Gunner build (Dual-Wielding). Ranged DPS and Mechanics/Trap Detector. Cipher 18/Other 2 - Pallegina being a Support Tank, healing and strengthening herself and allies. Paladin/Priest. Paladin 10/Priest 10 Or... Maia Rua, Ranger/Chanter, pretty much the same as Serafen (+bird), but a little more versatile (because of the animal companion). Trap Detector, Scout. Ranger 6/Chanter 14

  21. I'd love a twisted and dark character, someone like Falanroed (the dragon slayer). Someone who, at times, wrestles the dragon inside and calls out a desperate "Kill me!" before being shut down by a whispering Master Below... "Hush now little one".
