  1. It probably has to do with incorporating a native perspective into the potential party roster in the form of someone who has ties to the Huana, which is something that a Naasitaq dwarf wouldn't be able to offer. Updated my post (or rather, I saw "New Reply" while I was editting). Maia Rua has ties to Huana (ancestry).
  2. When they were marketing Pillars of Eternity they used a Fire Godlike often, I think? When Jesse Cox was playing it at the Obsidian offices I think he made one "Flamey McFlamehead" or something, I only recall bits and pieces of it (point is, many digged the Fire Godlikes). I think this is the same, and heck, the same could apply to that Moon Godlike. It might be a representation of the Watcher, or a faction that's going to aid the Watcher, or it's the 6th Companion. Here's another of the Fire Godlike (I'm assuming it's the same one): I don't see why they can't just make it a Moon Godlike Dwarf? Naasitaq is a big player in the region after all~ Also: - Pallegina (Paladin) - Aloth (Wizard) - Eder (Fighter/Rogue) - Serafen (Cipher/Barbarian) - Maia Rua (Ranger) - ??? (Druid, Chanter, or Druid/Chanter) - Xoti (Monk/Priest) Huh? Where's that supposed to be? Here: //Putting a spoiler here to compress the post a bit // From Update #13, Maia Rua's reveal: I think the Moon Godlike is perhaps a steward or butler? More about Maia: That's probably the Moon dude? (I'm probably wrong, I'm just trying to see it in a "How could they make a Dwarf out of this?")
  3. Just thought I could create adventurer's at the end of Pillars 1 and then simply import them as main characters for Deadfire. A sort of Dragon Age: Origins character creator~ (Bioware released a Chargen before DAO was released so people could make their characters and jump right in when it released).
  4. Pin it, if possible As for the Poll, I took: And: Crew is stranded on an island, and ship is either a wreck or captured. Player helps find their ship or recruits them into their own crew (generic crew/hirelings). Timed quest. If the Player arrives too late, they'll all be dead, and if the Player arrives too soon, they might not even be there (yet). Or, Eothas broke their ship, and now they're stranded, and they have some "Pirate Ship" equivalent treasure/schematic/Elite Personel reward (Upgrades for the probable Watcher/Player ship).
  5. 1) More color variations for characters (2 colors now, that's fine, but a bigger template. Can't quite get the Green/Yellowish/Limey Hiravias color). Just one bit of... well... nagging? 2) Individual "Hide Helmet" options. I want to Hide the helmet on Eder (but still get the benefits from the helmet), but I might not want to hide the helmet on my MC (I'm currently using a Helmet portrait for a Barbarian Dragoon playthrough... I focus Pike, Accuracy, Plate Armor, not so much Frenzy or other Barbarian skills. It's a really fun build)
  6. Any thoughts? Title says it all. Elaborated: I was thinking, could I make Adventurer's in Pillars 1, and choose to import them as "Main Characters" into Deadfire? Of course, they would have to have all the choices from MC from that Save file, but could it be possible? Second: Would you be able to Change or Edit the choices even if you Load/Import a character, or are the Import choices final?
  7. Let's see: MC - any race Eder - Human Fighter/Rogue Aloth - Elf Wizard Pallegina - Godlike Paladin Serafen - Orlan Cipher/Barbarian Arquebus lady - Human(Aumaua?) Maia Rua - Aumaua Ranger ???? - Probably a Dwarf Moon Godlike Aumaua or Aumaua? (See Update #13) Xoti - Human Monk/Priest http://1u88jj3r4db2x4txp44yqfj1.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Pillars-of-Eternity-Deadfire-main.jpg https://images.nowloading.co/images/c_limit,q_auto,w_710/hgkt3wmi7hjhy0yrrogu/pillars-of-eternity-2-deadfire-news-trailers-release-date-everything-you-need-to-know.jpg https://www.fig.co/campaigns/deadfire?update=263#updates EDIT: No dwarf...?
  8. The Black Lobster Bastards Edit: Haha, the crew (if it happens) should have a Lobster pet xD not a parrot/monkey. Lobster much more original
  9. +1 The most recent save should always be at the top, regardless if it's a quick-save, auto-save, or manual save. Thats not what hes saying ... It's what I'm saying. I agree with rjshae, but think the most recent save should be sorted at the top. I guess, yeah, let me elaborate: It's a great idea to change how save files are sorted, because I also scroll down a lot of the times I load. I relate to the nagging thought "scrolling down again". But then you neglect all the people who use quick-saves and auto-saves often. So, the most recent save = no scrolling (unless you'd go back 5-6 saves) and it's a win-win situation, no one needs to scroll during a play session.
  10. +1 The most recent save should always be at the top, regardless if it's a quick-save, auto-save, or manual save.
  11. Fluffle is currently collecting funds for the Black Isle Bastards pirate crew + ship (independently from the forum badge). If we reach 5000$ we can place it on the Black Isle. I'm sure your item can be merged with all this stuff. Even if the pirate crew won't be a success I'm pretty sure OBS can put your item on the Black Isle.Currently? Where?
  12. As far as I understood the Black Isle is going to be quite small. It can turn out to be very small in fact. Don't be disappointed, we get it for free after all.So if we decide that our ship is at the Black Isle, there may not be enough room for an inn. I would need to check with the devs. Curious: If Inn is used in combination with the island, could Inn mean "Structure"? (House, Hut, Cave etc, a good size for 4-8 characters) Does it necessarily have to be an "Inn"?
  13. Naming: Backer Badge, Black Isle Bastards Backer Island, The Black Isle Backer Crew, Black Isle Bastards Backer Ship.... undecided. Is the Island and the Ship exclusive? What if the Island is moving? The Ship is the Island? That'd solve that. "The Black Isle" for Island and for Ship.
  14. How about this, we inquire if the game features monkeys at all. And if it does, the pirates could have a pet monkey. Of course that could require additional funds, we would need to clear that up first. It wouldn't necessarily require additional funds if the pet monkey model already exists in Obsidian's planning, then it shouldn't be more than a copy+paste. If it doesn't exist and Obsidian would need to make the 3D model and behaviors, even if simple, then the monkey pet isn't a priority, and shouldn't even be considered. Same should apply to "parrot". But, just assuming now, one would think that there might be parrot and monkey pets in a game with piracy (there were dogs, cats, and pigs, in Dyrwood). So it isn't far fetched to assume there'll be monkeys or parrots in Deadfire, but it's still just an assumption. EDIT: Or stolen by pirates? 2 NPC's stranded on an island (no time-based dying). And 6 NPC's on a ship.
  15. Well concerning the idea that the Black Isle Bastards are a part of the Obsidian Order: Personally, I would like to put the Obsidian Order to rest at this point. The idea that the pirates are part of the order has been proposed several times. Yes. I did an edit in that post to include "or even seekers" instead of "prisoners". The Obsidian Order of Eternity is a secret organization in Eora. So I thought, what if another entity, the Black Isle Bastards, went to go out looking for them? For clues or whatnot.
  16. Yes. I was thinking outside the box. In a sort of "Is a Ship really required?" kind of way. No ship at all, just 0-8 hungry sailors on a tiny island. EDIT: However, what happened to their ship? Lost at sea. Regardless if you go there when there's 0-8 NPC's, there could be a single loot spot, where there's a schematic for the Player ship (an obsidian black color schematic, purely cosmetic, or some standard-generic upgrade). IF the Player gets a ship in Deadfire, IF said ship has upgrade components. Or the ship is still drifting at sea, and to trigger "finding it", you'd have to find the Black Isle first.
  17. 1) I got this really funny image of 4-8 characters sitting around a wooden table, on wooden chairs, playing a game of cards or something, and discuss the various subjects of life and death (philosophy)~ you can't speak to them, as they're basically just staring out into blank space, rambling (text bubbles/lines above their heads). A random encounter, or if you fulfill some conditions (e.g. "If Player goes from A to B around 20:00 and 24:00, the Player has a chance to encounter the Black Isle"). Something like this. 2) They could also be a branch of the secret Obsidian Order (or deserters, or even seekers), and the island is reaaaalllyyyy hard to even find. Also a random encounter or event. 3) Another theme, a much darker theme, is that they could be stranded, 4-8 NPC's (Black Isle Bastards)? Banished on this island and left to die. Them being the "Bastards" and the island having some sort of "Mark" or "Forbidden Entry" symbols, hence "The Black Isle". A cursed island in the tongue of the Deadfire Archipelago~ What if that could be a time-based thing? If the Player finds them early, there's 8 NPC's, and if you find them late, there might either be a single one left, or maybe even piles of bone. If there's 4 or less NPC's left, some will be hostile raging and frothing cannibals. Or maybe even just 4-8 souls that only the Watcher can see, ghosts~ A different for each state of "When you find them", example below: 8 NPC's left: Friendly 7 NPC's left: Ashamed 6 NPC's left: 1 hostile/crazed (attacking), rest is ashamed 5 NPC's left: 3 hostile/crazed, 2 are roped 4 NPC's left: 3 hostile/crazed, 1 roped 3 NPC's left: 2 hostile/crazed, 1 roped (hostile when freed) 2 NPC's left: 1 hostile/crazed, 1 roped (hostile when freed) 1 NPC left: hostile
  18. we got no problem going this way, but am not certain what manifested has in mind. typically, "pirate" would be a theme, so how do we narrow or refine to make it unique and yet accessible? most theme notions coming immediate to our mind is tending towards humorous. not intentional neither. honest. when leferd pointed out how he didn't want the pirates to say, "arr!" we inexplicable thought o' pirates with australian accents who are obsessed with acquiring refined luminous adra, which they nickname "juice." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfL4xKQeSfo what else? retired corporate raiders. former members o' the VTC who sold their stock, bought an island? pirates who mutinied 'cause their captain became obsessed with chasing the leviathan? undead pirates? no. just no. am honest a bit stymied at the moment. am trying to think serious, but keeps becoming funny, 'cause anything serious sounds even worse in our head. ex-slave pirates. why? because. privateers in the employ o' one o' the dyrwood lords, or the duc himself, tasked with raiding aedyr ships. somebody wanna get this started? somebody not Gromnir. HA! Good Fun! Colonial settlers who were booted or mistreated and started to fight back? Nobles who put on masks and fights for the people? (Zorro) A pit stop for weary travelers?
  19. I fell a little bit in love with the story of the "Sea Peoples". The first documented "pirates". Search "Incursions of the Sea Peoples". A little bit like "300", except on sea and naval combat.
  20. I could see Kana leading some sort of expedition to Deadfire, in search of some Lore. Other than that, he had a brother I think? Kana was the Scholar, and his brother(s?), Warrior. Wouldn't it make more sense (and build on Kana's bloodline) to introduce a family member? Perhaps as reinforcements battling God Titan Eothas (I'm getting FFX Sin feels)?
  21. I don't wish to be misunderstood either, and I'm probably one of the people Karkarov is mentioning. I'm just excited, eager, and I like to come up with concepts and ideas. That doesn't mean the same as "I have to design stuff!!". I love it when I see fan-fic, fanart, fan stuff in general, that just inspires me more as well! I was part of a Roleplaying forum (Naruto) for like 4-5 years, and sometimes we just wrote because we liked to write and share our ideas, and our ideas grew and became better and better the more we roleplayed/discussed. Why? Because we had some sort of purpose, and I still strongly believe that if we hit our heads together and made something concrete, but elaborate (Doesn't have to be a 10 page Design Document @Karkarov), we'd create something pretty amazing together. Does that mean that Obsidian would have to listen to us and listen to that specific idea? No. It doesn't need to mean anything! We might create something that we think is awesome, amazing, and it just falls into the void and has no more purpose after that, the point is that it doesn't matter! Because within the idea, there might be 100's of ideas, and 1 amazing idea that no one would discover otherwise, is discovered! If we don't explore the possibilities, then it's just going to be "Name an Island" or "Name a Pirate" or "Name an Inn" or "Name a Pet", but if we had instead made a Pet, that, let's say, is 10 ideas put together, 1 of those 10 ideas might be exactly within scope or within possibilities. So I kindly ask that you understand my feelings towards this, and I hope no more misunderstandings come from it
