I should say that I've had a SUPER boner for Kim Cattrall from the age at which I could first get a boner so my judgement is a bit clouded.
-
I love that dynamic where the main protagonist talks a big game and fails to back it up again and again because he's nowhere near the hero he thinks he is. I found Jack Burton incredibly compelling because he thinks he's an action hero but he's absolutely not, he just happens to have capable friends and dumb luck on his side. This is similar to why I loved the Space Quest games, with Roger Wilco being completely ill-equipped to be a hero. It also helps that I absolutely love camp and I love wuxia. I adore 70s Hong Kong cinema where... Well, I love 70s Hong Kong cinema in general, but I particularly love the more goofy kung fu flicks with comedy characters aplenty. While Big Trouble in Little China isn't really a kung fu movie it does have some of the elements of the wackier 70s kung fu flicks I love so much. It's the unholy love child of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Drunken Master I didn't know I needed until I saw it. Also, Kim Cattrall

Some people can't handle the sublime gameplay and near limitless viable character builds of GD. Let them enjoy their casual game. I keed, I keed, D2 is a fine game. As for me, I'm still on The Great Squirrel Hunt in Lost Judgment. I've found and completed 36 of 56 so far. I refuse to look up the locations, I'm determined to find them all myself.

Grits with salt, pepper, and so much butter.

I think one's enjoyment of the movie will heavily depend on whether the (intentional?) comedy worked for them or not, I personally loved it. You do have to get through 2 acts of mediocre "horror" movie until you get to act 3 where it takes a HARD left and turns into The Matrix. For me, I loved how hilariously bat**** insane the 3rd act was. It was such an amazingly jarring tonal shift and went so far off the rails that it was worth sitting through those 2 fairly boring acts to get there. If the 3rd act didn't work for you then I could definitely see how you would have hated the movie. As for the Giallo influence, it's definitely there, but it's mostly superficial.

From a purely business standpoint, nothing is wrong with them. Even ludicrous PC/console cash cows like FIFA and GTA Online pale in comparison to top earning mobile games when it comes to revenue. I hate it but this is a trend that's only going to get worse. Mobile is where the big money is.

You can't stop the tomfoolery you can only hope to contain it: Also, more dancing:
-
The tomfoolery continues: Just because I completed the dance school story doesn't mean I'm going to stop dancing with my girls: I do hope there's more than just the 4 songs in the school story to be found or added in a DLC or whatever.

Another W for muh Boys. Granted, beating the Giants isn't exactly a great accomplishment, but a win is a win and it's not our fault the rest of the division is trash. The rest of the way it's: @Pats *BYE* @Vikes Broncos Falcons @Chiefs Raiders Saints @Skins @Giants Skins @Cards @Iggles Chiefs, Cards, and Raiders stand out as the obvious loss candidates, though I could see muh Boys winning any of those games, and Saints is a roll of the dice because they're so erratic. There's probably a stupid loss in there somewhere too. 12-5 is not unrealistic. Obviously, all of that can change next week when half the team gets injured and/or suspended. As an aside, how many teams are kicking themselves for passing on Trevon Diggs? He might be the best corner in the league, holy crap that guy is good!

I'm supposedly getting my Switch OLED "by Tuesday". I don't, however, have a PS5 nor a xXxBOxXx to put it next to, nor do I plan to possibly get one until a mid-cycle upgrade ala PS4 Pro. If nothing else, I'm curious to see how many more Xs Microsoft can cram into the name.
-
Nah, I'm home for a few days. As long as I get my OLED Switch before I get back on the road it will be fine, but it sure would be nice to have it now.

@BartimaeusI guess I shouldn't assume everyone has seen Big Trouble in Little China, but I kinda assume everyone has seen it since it's been on free TV 8 billion times over the last 30 years or so. It's just a fun adventure movie. Imagine a goofier Indiana Jones where the main protagonist is a c0cky yet lovable bumbling blabbermouth.
-
@BartimaeusHow in the world have you not seen Big Trouble in Little China? That movie is awesome and it has my favorite Kurt Russell performance ever. Kurt Russell has given a lot of great performances so that's a big statement. Jack Burton is the greatest, largely because he's so ineffective.
-
When it comes to Carpenter, my top 3 are: 1) Big Trouble in Little China 2) They Live 3) In the Mouth of Madness The first 2 feel like obvious choices while ItMoM is a bit of a guilty pleasure. What can I say, I love me some Sam Neil.
-
A middle of the road Carpenter movie. My favorite thing about it was the sheer volume of gang members trying to kill that 1 dad. They just kept coming in waves like a horde mode video game. It loses points for having neither Kurt Russell nor Sam Neil in it. I love those actors so much and they both were in numerous Carpenter movies, not this one, though.

There's always some concern when key figures leave a company, but I'm not panicking, if that's what you're asking. It could wind up being a benefit. With new leadership RGG may be more inclined to shake things up. If there's one criticism you could level at RGG it's that they've stuck to a formula (albeit a really good formula) too much. We have seen some changes with LaD going the JRPG route, but underneath that it's still a very familiar game. I guess we'll see when LaD2 rolls around.

To nobody's surprise, RGG are working on a sequel to Yakuza: Like a Dragon:

Yet more random Lost Judgment tomfoolery: The Seyrio Rabbits at the Dance Jam National Finals: The winning performance: They make me so proud!

I see that and there is validity to that argument, but I don't want to be pearl clutching and crying "won't someone think of the children!" I'm pretty sure that Twitch has the ability to label channels 18+, which, in my opinion, this channel should be labeled as. The fact that it showed up for me when not logged in suggests that the channel wasn't 18+. Agreed.

This somehow looks even worse than the Paul W S Anderson movies starring his wife Milla, those at least had some campy charm to them. It could just be the trailer and the weird choice of music.
-
I know what ASMR is, I guarantee you that the majority of the viewers tuning in weren't there for the audio. As long as she's not breaking Twitch's TOS (I can't be arsed to look them up), more power to her, God bless. However, you know what this is, I know what this is, let's not pretend it's something that it isn't. It's a pin up girl on your screen very thinly veiled as "ASMR".

I have well over 60 hours in Lost Judgment now and I don't think I'm done with even half the content. The most impressive thing, and this goes for all the RGG games, is how good the mini-games are given the downright ludicrous amount of them; I mean, I'm still finding new mini-games. I figure you either get a small number of mini-games with high effort or large number of low effort ones. Not with RGG, it's high number high effort. How do they do it? They don't cut corners anywhere, everything has attention to detail. It's bonkers. I love this studio.
