IndiraLightfoot replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Oh, now we have a stretch goal with subclasses as well, I mean what is this? PoE2, a cornu copiae of CRPG dreams? Everything's just getting better by the day... Yay!

Stretch goal discussion!
IndiraLightfoot replied to TheisEjsing's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Yeah, subclasses is a brilliant stretch goal. Imagine turning into a swashbuckler after some levels of fighter.

Starting back at level 1?
IndiraLightfoot replied to thelee's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Enoch, those are very good points. In MotB, it was a daunting task even for D&D vets to roll up a new character all the way to lvl 18, so they really need to get a lot of stuff right.

Will Justin Bells be in charge for the soundtrack again?
IndiraLightfoot replied to Mazisky's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)If I may come with a suggestion: I soon got tired, almost annoyed, at the few battle tunes in PoE, so please add at least six or so different ones for PoE2, and not so bombastic ones either. I really like Justin's toned down and subtle pieces. I don't find them generic, but rather fitting for setting the atmosphere and mood.

Starting back at level 1?
IndiraLightfoot replied to thelee's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)It would be a really tacky solution, starting at level one. Which is why I wanted a new character starting at level one. The problem is while Obs make fantastic games they also make some really silly design decisions which paint them into a corner. I'd say dropping the watcher to level one would be on par with choosing to have a mid game expansion like White March. You end up complicating things needlessly and end up having to compromise on issues like story and balance. It would have been so much better if WM had been an end game expansion from every point. It's the same with Deadfire, either a new character at level 1 which would be simplest or a mid to high level watcher (more complicated). But it's their decision and if they choose to make life more difficult for themselves, well it's their choice. Though a high level campaign doesn't have to be bad, it can be done properly - like Mask, but it is tough, specially to think of some justification of why common bandits are a higher level than an archmage. Still it's no more hackneyed than dropping a 16th level watcher down to 1st level. BTW I think a compromise might be in order - I'd say 8-10th level would be a good place to start, much like Shadows of Amm. This is exactly how I feel. Although I'd love to start all over, level 8-10 makes sense. Still, in NWN2, they had a lobby setting the level to 18 if I recall correctly, but then you had wondrous Super Gnolls and ordinary barrels and dirt piles in the first village containing +5 items.

One Word - Multiclassing!
IndiraLightfoot replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I guess a limit could be put in: You have to take three consecutive levels at least when you pick a class or switch it. Just a suggestion.

IndiraLightfoot replied to Mazisky's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I'm a big fan of his work, so I can say with some certainly that he will be. He's the mastermind behind the track in the PoE2 vid, for instance.

Soul Towers like the one in Defiance Bay are architecturally similar to the desert temple image
IndiraLightfoot replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)Hmm, I'm fixated on those ornaments. Also, look at that minor support down in the right hand corner, those are the same leaf patterns which we see on the temple below. Then we have the flower-like pattern to the right of the soul tower on the floor, with two bulging leaves and one long stem with a circular flower - rather similar to what's repeated on that temple. I'd hazard a guess and say they are about as old and culturally related, if not the same.

Confirmed: Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
IndiraLightfoot replied to Infinitron's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)At least someone has asked the question like 8 min ago at Fig. And an answer is in: "We're going to have an update on a bunch of stuff about combat and party info at a later date, so stay tuned for that!" Informative.

Confirmed: Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
IndiraLightfoot replied to Infinitron's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Yeah, I'm still looking forward to it just as much. It's just a matter of tradition (PoE1) and more options, choices, and consequences, I guess.

Confirmed: Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
IndiraLightfoot replied to Infinitron's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I've re-watched the Fig vid, and there are a few sequences and images with 5 party members, and at least two with 4, but none with 6. Whelp!

Confirmed: Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
IndiraLightfoot replied to Infinitron's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)My reply in another thread: Hmm, it does indeed seem a bit random, though, going from 6 to 5, so this rumour got me thinking. They've already acknowledged that we will be able to continue with our party and use the old save game from PoE1, with a few info markers getting transferred too. To me, this really suggests that they won't be changing the party number from 6 to 5, otherwise, they have a big problem on their hands.

Confirmed: Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
IndiraLightfoot replied to Infinitron's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Hmm 5 instead of 6... That would be a bit worse, methinks. To me, in a CRPG of this type: 6>5>4.

The Consolidated Pillars of Eternity 2 Wishlists Thread
IndiraLightfoot replied to jones092201's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Rather too late, but one should never say never. Given the last beta, we'll surely be able to strongarm some stuff in the Sensuki way, if we're diligent enough. At least, if you've pledged so that you'll be participating in the upcoming PoE2 beta, like I did...

One Word - Multiclassing!
IndiraLightfoot replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Did you by any chance mean that as an abbreviation? Magic User (Wizard) + Elementalist (Druid) + Hunter (Ranger)?

Congratz on Launch, Obsids!
IndiraLightfoot replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)That's sad to hear, using an ordinary pc desktop here, and it worked like a charm, almost scarily easy to give away your money, come to think of it...

Congratz on Launch, Obsids!
Congratulations on the launch of PoE2, Obsidian! I couldn't start this highly called for topic at Announcements, so I'll do it here instead. Oh, and what a wonderful name Deadfire is. Whoever came up with that, kudos to her/him! And I feel like praising so much of what I've seen so far, but I'll settle with saluting the use of font for your title (see above on this web page), those flame-like waves on the D and the E, and the almost wooden quality is just superb. Keep on rocking, Obsids! /Indira

One Word - Multiclassing!
I just read over at Fig that if PoE2 will be funded, multi-classing will be a thing! This makes me crazy with glee! Imagine the possibilities, mixing a little Druid with some Paladin. Yummy!

Soul Towers like the one in Defiance Bay are architecturally similar to the desert temple image
Hi y'all! I just realized something pretty obvious: You recall those soul-containing towers of yore, like the one in Defiance Bay in the Undying Heritage quest line? Well, the ornaments on soul container are in many ways quite similar to the architectural design of this... It just makes me want to visit that temple even more! Discuss!

Confirmed: Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
IndiraLightfoot replied to Infinitron's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Is it just me? Or isn't the place below absolutely adorable? Imagine taking pirates Ziggurat/Pyramid mummy looting... "Aarrrrr, give that lich king a hand, or a hook!"

Confirmed: Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
IndiraLightfoot replied to Infinitron's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Yeah, and for any Steam players out there, let's just pray you kept final saves on the Steam Cloud. Well, I'll most likely do a re-run for PoE2, specifically, picking fitting companions and rolling savvy characters - perhaps three of each. So, how does that Fig-thing work KS-wise? You just register there and put your stakes in, as it were?

Symbols & Spoilers(?) [Web Shenanigans]
IndiraLightfoot replied to Ethics Gradient's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)And we already know the hats will be awesome (PoE1)! One pet I reckon we should bank on: a cool, brazen parrot!

Why Not Both?
IndiraLightfoot replied to CursedByLight's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Did they actually say that they wanted to do a Pathfinder cRPG? [speculation hat] What if the mystery Unreal Engine project is a spiritual successor to NWN2, but set in the Pathfinder universe? [/speculation hat] As someone who can't get enough of this kind of stock basic Western CRPG setting, just speculating about it makes me positively giddy. And the surveys Obsidian had us fill in a few weeks back were littered with certain specific questions about a CRPG of a certain brand. Oh, the joy... And if a reasonably easy-to-use and free toolset would be added, my head would go ka-ploom!
