Journalism and sexism in the games industry

Rockstar doesn't have to do a damn thing. It's their game. Also, people looking down on sex workers are part of the problem - they make life worse for those sex workers. -

Okay I believe you, but that has nothing to do with the point that hookers can and should be removed from the GTA game design ? To quote you: "So firstly you wouldn't be able to just make the hookers " un-killable " because it would make the overall gaming experience unrealistic." Explain to me how a simulated city devoid of hookers is realistic? You can't argue for and against realism in the same damn paragraph. Except you can apparently. Do you really have any argument for removal of hookers other than "I don't like it"? Seriously. What would it change if there were male hookers too? What has that have to do with artistic freedom or the creative process? Neither are defined by your taste OR approval. Except that is exactly what you're trying to do. Force a global change to conform to your tastes. -
Never have children then. They poop and throw up regularly. People are way too squeamish.

To be fair, the anti-GamerGate did try ONE charity..with a 100$ goal... and in 2 weeks they only reached 30$. And then GG donated the other 70 and there was much laughing at jsut homew incompetent, impotent and insignificant they really are. As someone said, even with the GG autoblockers the antis' are complaining about pro-GGers. Meanwhile all it takes is to block 50 names and anti-GG is silenced. The SJW don't even realize how hated and marginal they have become. They alienated everyone with their cult-like obsessive behavior. -

Second part of point 2. My search-fu (and memory) is weak. Is that your text Longknife? -
LOTR made BIG changes compared to Hobbit. The tone, the intended audience - completely changed. Yes, the villain was evil, but THAT isn't what made it great. such a narrow view at the complex issue is deeply flawed. And no, it CAN work. As proven by many fantasy settings with moral nuance. Such villans have been done before many times. Case in point, for games - Loghain. Illusive Man (before he gone full retard). Irenicus. Again, false equalence. You attribute the failure of the prequrls to that one thing.

Implying young people can't enjoy depth or non 2-D characters? Star Wars can work in many ways, and those concepts are not "alien" or incompatible with SW. The flaws are bad writing. Period. You also ignore that fact that settings grow and develop over time, as the writer and audience grows. Case in point, compare The Hobbit with LoTR. LOTR is better in every way.

1) What is the primary appeal of SW is totally subjective. 2) Depth and nuance will ruin a fictional work? First time I hear that. 3) The prequels were s*** because they were s***. Correlation DOES NOT equal causation.

Women on the internet on average get more attention, but that is not more harassement. The whole notion that the gaming industry and internet are exceptionally hostile to women is a big, fat lie. A media scare to generate views/clicks. Ya know...like the WMD's in Iraq. The bird Flu. The swine flu. The "games causing mass shootings" scare. The mass media have been broken and useless for a long time. -
I would say that a lightsaber not having a crossguard is very practical, yours is a false equivalence argument because swords are not lightsabers. Firstly; lightsabers have no weight and cut on momentum alone. Secondly; lightsabers are not just for humans, we all need to accept that the galaxy is a diverse place and that everyone needs to be equally represented even if it leads to fewer fingers. There are such materials that resist lightsabers but they are rare, I would say that an armored glove with a force field that acts as a guard without restricting movement would be better. A crossguard is always practical. There's a reason every useful sword in history has it. Momentum or not, the blade still does the cutting and sliding it down WILL cut your fingers off..or whatever type of appendage you use to hold it. The pommel, crossquard and quillions of a blade have historically been used as a weapon/striking point too. Some of it fall into water with lightsabers since you can't use the same techniques, like half-swording. IIRC; cortosis can resist lightsabers, so a crossguard made of it would make most sense (like in that lightsaber mod above). Also IIRC, it's too impractical to make gloves from.

So an anonymous account makes a bad joke about the ferguson-riots and people doxx him/her and their mom in hope that someone will burn their house down. Sounds logical, normal and morally sound. Kinda like the same morals as of certain journalists. AFAIK, the person who wrote that lyrics is a little girl. -
I call BS on your BS. Vader was a great villain. Which is what Lucas did; by making him sympathetic. Vader should not be sympathetic. Neither should the new villains. Anti-villains are not good for the tone of a Starwars movie. 1) Yes he was. If you are a five year old who cannot process nuance and everything has to be jesus-chirst-purity white or black-hole black. 2) That is not an objective fact, merely opinion.

I would say that a lightsaber NOT having a crossguard is very, very stupid. there's a reason swords have them - to stop someone from sliding his blade down yours and cutting off your fingers/hand. Any proper swords needs a crossguard. Now, it is stupid to be open from the underside. What the lightsaber in question needs is another crossguard just below the red lightsaber one to prevent contact with the hand. That, or a crossguard made from some magicla material that resist lightsabers. Allow me to illustrate:
-
BS. To both. Vader was never a great villain. He was memorable because of hype and unique apperance. Giving the villain depth is a GOOD thing...unless you f*** it up.
