  1. Putin will need this to be a short war. Modern military battles are expensive and the West can significantly outspend the mediocre Russian economy. Plus we're sanctioning their banks, so they'll probably need to print money to keep it funded (unless they get loans from China). The longer this lasts, the worse it gets for Putin.
  2. Support options for the Ukraine include logistics, weaponry (physical and cyber), intelligence, communications, training, and private contractors. The West can choose to make this an unending and painful occupation for Putin, possibly leading to a change in government.
  3. I'm still playing Solasta, and it's proven much better than I had expected. This is the most fun I've had with a video RPG since P:K. Hopefully they do some follow-up games using the same engine.
  4. So much for nothing will happen, it's all a bluff. Right. My sympathies for the people of the Ukraine.

  6. Normalize should be in quotes. Those demands are basically a Ukrainian surrender to Russian mastery. No country worth its salt would find them acceptable. Modern evil on display.
  7. Goose step, Belgian version. I'm down with that.
  8. That's your tailgater's wet dream, right there.
  9. Well Faux News is available in Canada, so they may be having some of the same irrational influence up there. Besides, everybody can join the same forums on the net.
  10. I picked up Solaris and I'm enjoying it thus far. There's a bit of a learning curve since I never played 5e before. The one oddity is that cleric spell preparation is handicapped by whether you have a free hand available at the time. There's no way to correct that unless you remember before long resting.
  11. They took a dewormer to own the libs. Huh. Something to tell their grandkids, I suppose.
  12. Ivermectin does not prevent severe COVID-19, study finds This isn't really a surprise as we've seen similar study results before. It's still not clear to me why the right became all "religious" (in the dogmatic sense) about this drug.
  13. The Fourth Geneva Convention disallows bombings that are indiscriminate or in the form of reprisals against civilians. https://ihl-databases.icrc.org/ihl/WebART/470-750065 I believe Russia is a signatory. The question then is whether the Aleppo bombings violate those accords. If there were military targets in the bombed locations, then it might be found legal, if inhumane.
  14. I wonder if we'll have a big tutu turnout next 2's day? (I.e. Tuesday Feb. 2, 2022.) Or perhaps a teutonic tutelage?
  15. Chaotic evil, but amusing
  16. Machinehood by S. B. Divya Modern sci-fi stories about the near future sure seem busy with all the tech-culture details. But at least this one keeps the number of characters to a minimum so you get some occasional character development in there.
  17. n/m
  18. Prince Andrew reaches a settlement with Virginia Giuffre in sexual abuse lawsuit Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more. 'Bout what I expected. The Royals want it all to vanish.
