  1. It's not actually a new phenomenon. There have long been political (and personal) influences in the selections.
  2. Those old 80's sticky hair sprays sure did klingon...
  3. It seems odd that the state Lieutenant Governor wouldn't succeed a vacated office of the Governor. That's just asking for trouble.
  4. Long COVID: an estrogen-associated autoimmune disease? If true, this doesn't seem like a good outcome.
  5. But that's the way politics works in the USA now: the two parties are so far apart that political oscillation can't be avoided. You get your left/right-wing President in office with control of Congress, and you get a year to ram through your left/right platform. Then the next election cycle kicks in and it's stalemate for 3-7 years, whereupon the pendulum swings to the opposite extreme. Even a moderate Biden is trapped in this cycle. I think the fix is to change the pluralistic voting scheme to a method that's more tolerant of multiple candidates, such as approval voting or ranked choice. That gives moderate candidates a greater chance of winning office.

  9. This reminds me of a story I read recently: Fructose contributes to obesity by changing cells Not only is Fructose unhealthy, but it changes your gut in a way that makes you want to be even more unhealthy.
  10. As abortion ban goes into effect, Texas poised to double down with separate restrictions on abortion-inducing medications
  11. I suspect that's the point of the law; to make it much more difficult to get an abortion without absolutely prohibiting it. It effectively cripples Roe v. Wade without challenging the established ruling itself. I'm sure they have been thinking about this for a long, long time.

  13. This means I can actually play it... next September. After all the major bugs are patched. Then again PF:KM is still buggy, so maybe not.
  14. ^ If there really was a supernatural, that bible would have burst into flames. Quod erat demonstrandum.
  15. The problem is that people are taking Ivermectin formulated for livestock use. At least two hospitalized with potential ivermectin toxicity, the MSDH updates
  16. There you go trying to apply reason and logic again.
  17. All part of a Republican plan to de-worm their base. They must know something we don't.
  18. No the report did not set it to 'moderate confidence'. There were differing opinions, with one claiming 'moderate confidence' about the lab leak conjecture and the others being indeterminate.
