  1. I really don't get this forum graphic-phobia. Graphics are the vetor which the developer expresses their visions nd told their histories.
  2. I hope we won't see a lack of quests, paths and factions that exclude other ones. Else you end up with that ridiculous situation where you are the Master Thief, the Archwizard, the leader of the Ninja Assassins and the Ultimate Leader of the Fighter's Guild- all at once. I despise the modern RPG player. So don't make this type of quests, and focus the work on the real ones. Just don't make 30% of the game unplayable at once.
  3. Quests, paths or factions that excludes onother one.
  4. Well the answer is obvious, avoid getting injured so frequently. If we triumph without hardly a scratch upon us due to superior tactics and strategy, then there's no need to spend time dealing with potentially life threatening injuries, (or time sinks as you would have it) though magic and abilities may still need to be recuperated. Also what mandates that we have to have lots of battles, as i've said before i'd prefer more gruelling and intensive occasional melees than this modern obsession with endless waves of meat waiting to be butchered. Also with the multiple skills and routes one may be able to take through the gameworld, we may not have to indulge in slaughter whatsoever. I do apologise if I appear somewhat impassioned on this matter, but a strategical approach, gruelling combat and no easy answers are something that i've missed in the software of recent years. Handholding and accessibility being prioritised over verisimillitude and accomplishment have in my opinion belittled both the player, the genre and any sense of challenge. Why this would be so different of taking a heal potion with 1 of life and magically restore all the health?

  6. Look at Torchlight. It begins small but now is big, very big. I hope this happens with Eternity too.
  7. Imagine a developer makes game A during 2012; releases it at the end of the year. By and large, the money they are paid by the publisher supports their costs during 2012. When the game comes out, those payments cease. They might get a small (and I mean small) cut of the profits or a flat sum, usually based on metacritic / sales. But generally, what they need to do is make sure they have another contract lined up, so that as soon as game A is finished, they can start making game B in 2013; and then, they'll be paid by the new publisher for that. The rest of the money from the sales goes to the publisher, the distributor, the middleman like game stores, etc. Yes, it really is like that. If you buy a $50 game, you will very rarely see the developer take $20 or $30 of it. You can find more exact breakdown of who gets how much on Gamasutra, but the basic gist of it is that counter-intuitive as it may seem, most developers really do live hand to mouth; even if your game just sold pretty well, if you don't have another contract lined up, you might need to let people go. (Recently, Obsidian had to let dozens of employees go because Fallout: New Vegas only got 84 on metacritic not 85, and they did not get their bonus from the publisher. Never mind the game sold 5 million copies.) OK, but without a publisher contract right now, how will they maintain the studio until project eternity see the light?
  8. But if they gain nothing of the profits how they can pay the people or pay the bills? And to where the money from the sales goes? I doubt any developer would work for free on this basis.
  9. This ^^ Obsidian is not a garage developer. They should have in-house money on it and revenue to end it development cicle.
  10. IMO some of the goals are unnecessary, they should instead focus in doing the best with the resources available, not tiding it with 1 dollar more or less
  11. None of them, just use the time to patch the bugs and focus on the sequel.
  12. This is a false dichotomy, how can a companion death saves a village? He jumps on a fire in some kind of sick ritual? Of course he can die trying to defend it, but that is totally diferent thing. IMO I always consider this a non optimal solution that should not be pressed on the player without others options.
  13. Don't give xp to unlock just 10% of the skill tree if you explore every bit of the world, or cap the level at 20. And please, let eveyone save whenever they want, no console crap chekpoints or "travel to the inn" system.
  14. lol, the other guys just understood what i'm talking about. I think it's you how misconcept it here
  15. Yes, it's just a set of behaviours you can define when don't wanna to micromanage everything. But it didn't override any of your commands in combat.
  16. Yes I mean. I listen that it comes from the final fantasy series but I cannot guarantee that. As Obsidian said that this will be a tactical game, instead of a mouse-1 point and click diablo clone, I think it will work just fine.
  17. Just don't make everysingle npc with sexual behaviour homosexual as in new vegas and it will be fine.
  18. If I could choose one feature to be in-game, it would be this. It helps so much to improve gameplay and it adds another layer of interactions between various game mechanics.
