This read actually gave me a good laugh. Oskar Burman, General Manager of Rovio (Angry Birds) doesn't seem to like Kickstarter at all. At least his Twitter comment wasn't very favorable. ^^ https://twitter.com/...785929955823617 It's quite obvious that he was inspired by Brenda Brathwaite's & Tom Hall's Old-School RPG. In the pitch video you could see Brenda, Tom and John Romero delivering the final game to a high tier backer. I'd say, Burman didn't get the joke. This video is clearly a reference, saying "John Romero is going to make himself your b***".

I think this world needs Paladins. When gods are so influential that they can manipualte events, they definitely have a religious warrior caste that fights for them, calls for crusade, crucifies the wrong believers... I think it would be consequent to offer a Paladin in some way and I think one can mix game reactions to them with reactions towards a cleric of the same god.

Regarding the Order i'm biased, so I won't say anything about it. It would definitely be cool to hear something about it, 'though. Another topic I could think of is the motif of the manipulative gods, but I think you should do the battle first.

I agree. Having a forum title to remember and honour this initiative is neat enough, no? Not that I don't appreciate your enthusiasm, Farudan! Yeah, we're still in the process to figure out our possibilities. So feel free to shoot straight forward. I definitely don't want to look greedy or damage the spirit behind our order. If there is a significant number of people that thinks so, I'm not going to vote for it. For me, it's not a question of simple majorities. I was definitely thinking about how to give the order some more meaning and this is one suggestion that was brought to me by several members of the order. I think it's okay to discuss this option. I also think we can do so and I'm willing to sort out the options but definitely not at all costs. It could damage the project as a whole if there is much quarrel.

I'm on it. Already started training. My guess is, 10.000 $ is utopic. 1.000 seems to be within reach, I've already comitments for about 10% of it. 5.000 would mean much efford. I don't think an inn would fit to the Order. An enemy encounter for the Order? Are we that evil? On the other hand placing a smaller reference would leave enough space for further exploration, maybe in a sequel. Let me hear your thoughts!

So my dear brethren and sisters, I have to say I like your idea to give the order some reference within the game. I would really like to do this with your help. Of course we need to have a plan. We're talking about a lot of money and I'm looking for a solution that everybody feels comfortable with, a solution that gives everybody a chance to be an active part of the whole thing. Also I don't know yet if we should aim for the 1000 or 5000 tier. I do not have a final answer yet, so I do have to talk with some people about this directly. Actually the middle and the right one just reminded me of some of the spell effects in the infinity games, when extracted as gif. Gave me a nostalgic feeling. ^^

When you have several companions in a game, imho it's also important that their design quality is mostly on the same level compared to each other. This recurs to Chris' rule "Companions should be optional". If there are one, two, several characters that exceed the others for example in detail or offer considerably more rewards through story angles, quests, banter and so on, it feels like you are forced to choose them over the others. For example I think Morrigan and Allister in Dragon Age: Origins are way to much raised above the rest, 'cause they play a signficant role in the main quest. The worst thing is, when this is combined with a breach of "Combat/Challenge-viable". For me, Imoen in BG2 was such a character.

I agree to Cantousent. I didn't want to create a hierarchy by money, nor such high barriers that would exclude people or prevent them from joining. But that doesn't mean pledging some money has to be the end of it, so thinking of the future is definitely welcome! We have some extremely creative and talented people. I think there are more possibilities to activate and use these powers. And there is beauty in it, when it is given voluntarily and wholeheartedly. Wow! That's the only thing I can say at the moment. When I came up with the idea, my fear was how people would response. Would they recognize it as another kind of stupid german money or what? I posted my thoughts on kickstarter and before I returned to the comments this idea has already been picked up by the first supporters. That gave me confidence to open this thread. I went off to some real life business and now... This is simply amazing, you are amazing! I love to see all the commitment to the project and the creativity, for example when people choose their new title and simply have fun. That's what I hoped for, but had never expected to happen so fast. People picked up the idea instantly, with Chad aka Crabby_Bastard helping me with the intro text, dlux constantly updating the member list, Alper autonomously creating this special site...
