  1. Its not. More like a note to myself to not assume everyone else is like me when I dont know. Never assume you know what other people think.
  2. Oh man. I had a scientific SYSTEM down for Icewind Dale 2 parties. All I remember right now is that I had two Celestials so I could max out sun damage, and an Abjurer.
  3. Surprised he'd admit that, and doesn't seem to bode well. Why? That's why the phrase is "kill your darlings", not "kill your things you're decent with".
  4. Vol, you know that's a ridiculous post hoc argument.
  5. I almost feel like starting a new thread for this.
  6. Also, out of all the miniscule, trivial things to complain about wasting time or resources, achievements are at the top of the list.
  7. AFAIK there are no achievements in the game. All Kickstarter backers will receive a special Kickstarter only in-game achievement and item.

    Gabe Newell personally hates it.
  9. There is no healing magic in the game. Also: PC Gamer: Party combat is a big part of the game, but you’ve also said it’s possible to play the game solo. Do you think this will be fun, or is it for masochists only? Josh Sawyer: It’ll be hard. I’m sure people will find certain classes and builds that will make it easier than others. Especially once you’ve already played through the game, and you have the metagame knowledge, it becomes a lot easier. I think the enjoyment comes from the fact that it’s a unique challenge on its own. Some people will say, I don’t know how to play through this whole game with a priest or a wizard, but I’m going to figure out how to do it. It will be pretty challenging, especially at certain points. We’re planning to use a sliding experience system, so if you have a single character they’ll gain levels more quickly than if they were with an entire party. If you don’t want to have six characters in your party you can have four, or two, or you can just go by yourself. We’re not discouraging this, but also the combat isn’t balanced around it. You can try it, but we’re not going to spend time figuring out if it’s viable to play through the whole game with a single character. It should be possible, but we’re not putting a lot of time into it. Source: http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/04/18/pillars-of-eternity-interview-josh-sawyer-on-world-building-magic-psychic-warriors-and-more/ I'm sure it will have an acheivement linked to it, and I will get it.
  10. For me, it's the same reason why people who believe in God and Heaven still value life.
  11. And the vast majority of the gaming population, especially the younger one. That's generalization. Most of today's young gamers are smart enough to know the difference. There are exceptions, however.
  12. Stun, do you honestly get this upset or is it just an act? Because come on. Video games and the internet.
  13. Anyone going to LRRCon in Seattle next weekend? Loading Ready Run's con that they are putting on for funding their Kickstarter?
  14. They tried cramming Shazam's origin story into a ten minute short while at the same time making it a Superman short.
  15. Bryy replied to Rosbjerg's topic in Computer and Console
Greenlight is reportedly dead by 2015 anyhow.
  16. Bryy replied to Rosbjerg's topic in Computer and Console
I'd link to my game on Greenlight, but I'd rather we have our final trailer first.
  17. Xaurips live life on the edge, literally and figuratively. Xaurip cops don't play by the rules. Any of them. It's a very chaotic and not very efficient police force.
  18. I'm not sure if this is meant as an insult or not. We're talking to you about practicality because: 1) Those are the terms you started this thread with. 2) Games don't get made with wishes and nice thoughts. There is no "DO" button. Everything has an opportunic cost. Okay. Are you everybody?
  19. Titan Quest is a Diablo clone. I wouldn't quite put it in the category of Unique.
  20. Unity, UE4, and CE3 are not the only ones in play. Ren'Py is free. Construct 2 and Media Fusion are both about $100. Game Maker Studio is also about $100. Of course, also the costs of a team. But I mean, it's not like crowdfunding isn't a big thing. But honestly, this discussion should really move to the Tips of Beginners thread in Dev Corner if it's going to continue. I'd be more than happy to help with further questions, Sheikh.
  21. I do agree, even over DFA, who have a documentary about the game's development (which is pretty sugar-coated).
  22. I cant. Thats why I am stuck playing games made by other people. Why not? There are tons of free and cheap engines on the market nowadays.
  23. The Banner Saga devs - Stoic - made a statement once right after their Kickstarter that they would never make one again due to the bullcrud they got from the Factions incident (they threw out their multiplayer as the beta and the backers went to town).
