  1. it's like calling a movie racist/sexist because the mc is a white male and there is no version that uses a black or asian male or female as mc
  2. i finished NOX... the last battle gave me cancer. 1 hour of running around chasing a constantly teleporting boss that could randomly one shot me
  3. these is a difference between catering to every whining beach (take that censoring) and making a lazy-copy-paste-sequel-releashed unfinished-without QA and sell it as the "best game ever" ... and when everyone goes and buys it only to be disapointed, the publisher says "who cares, we got their money"
  4. after trying it, it has a lot of mechanics and they are well made but it simply lacks the multiplayer part of the mmo. as usual, the game is designed as a theme park for solo players with the option to do missions in a team. the world is not freely explorable but consists of small maps each with a quest to do in it by yourself, with a team or in bigger maps you can go around with other random players as they do the same quest as you i dont know if it gets any different later, but so far i found it boring, grindy and repetitive. as i said, for me an mmo is about player interaction and so far this has NONE (besides the chat). i wish a developer would make a game with the multiplayer part of the term mmo in mind instead of focusing on combat balance. multiplayer games are about working with or against other players in a virtual enviroment and an mmo's job is to simply upscale the number of players and the size of that enviroment. if working with or against other players is completelly optional and instanced, there is no reason to have the mm in the mmorpg
  5. that would cost 909 euro (985 USD) here
  6. post your pc and i will tell you how much it would cost in my country
  7. i was looking at some prices and comparing them. the difference in the price of hardware between US and EU is enormous. Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 980 Ti on amazon.com it costs 732USD that is 676E on amazon.co.uk it costs 678GBP that is 978E in my country the cheapest is 856E with that sort of difference, i can get a plane ticket for NY, stay a week to sightsee, buy me a new PC, bring it back with me and it would still cost me less than just buying the PC in the cheapest store of my country
  8. they dont try to anger the customer base, they just dont care about it's opinion since the hype train will demolish all voices of reason in its path and money will be made even with a crappy product. the customer base is like a sleeping bear but as it happened with arkham knight, sometimes it wakes up and mauls the publishers if they poke it too hard
  9. indeed i dont play them. i used them as a random example of the policy on game development that EA has: minimum effort/cost for maximum profit. maybe 2014 and 2015 are not like that, but i have read reviews and i know that several times this has been the case with the series. and this kind of thing happens with several series of many big publishers i know what fraud is, however in my book, selling the same game every year with a different title is cutting it pretty close
  10. now you are comparing CPUs to chickens
  11. Yeah, see this is what I'm talking about. This is irrational and hyperbolic. Don't get me wrong, I love my smaller studios. They tend to produce games with more personality, more charm, whereas the big studios with their giant teams lose that in their quest for the biggest explosions and highest resolution facial tics. I'm super happy that the industry is at a place where both the independent guys, the medium sized guys, and the big guys can co-exist. But every one of them is trying to do right by their customers (ok, some indie folks might not fit that ) and every one of them is trying to turn a profit. FIFA 14 and FIFA 15. the only difference is that they moved some players around and they sell it as a new game. that is fraud and sooner or later people will get tired of it to rephrase Bob's song "you can milk some people sometimes, but you cant milk all the people all the time" the motto that goes around the industry right now is that "if you dont make players pay extra for every little thing, you are leaving money on the table"
  12. i always wondered: why are hexagons so closely related to sci-fi? i'll give the beta a go to see what they made, however one thing that almost all mmos i tried lack is uniqueness. even if they have something like a personal story, they lack the variety of options that would make a player unique and important within the player comunity... you are just one of many people doing the same things in the same place at the same time and the same way. take GW2 for example. i made 4 characters, each learned 2 of the 8 crafting skills, i leveled each by 5 levels while gathering materials, i made a full equip for each and proceeded to get them another 5 levels. rinse and repeat and by the time they all were level 80, they all had maxed crafting and all were wearing full custom top quality gear without me ever needing the help of any other player in the game for anything. it's an mmo, but i could just solo it all the way without the slightest need to interact with other players, which killed the point of playing an mmo in the first place an mmo MUST be made in a way that you need the other players and they need you at least for 50% of the in game activities if not more. if you can do everything by yourself, you may as well play a single player game here's an example of how to make each player more unique and useful for the comunity 1. each player can have only one character/server and no interserver contact between them. 2. have at least 10 classes that are NOT balanced for solo combat. a healer or an illusionist can barely kill anything for lack of offensive skills while the fighter can kill enemies of a much higher level 1 on 1 but cant handle 2 or more since attacks from the sides or back do bonus damage and a wizard can nuke a room full of enemies but will go down if they look at him the wrong way so he needs to be very carefull with the aggro. now put a wizard and an illusionist in a team. the illusionist makes the wizard nearly invulnerable by debuffing and crowd controlling the enemies while the wizard nukes the world. the illusionist uses his spells to allow the fighter to kill them one by one without getting swarmed. the healer's role is obvious. a ranger can do serious single target damage but cant handle groups and has low defense so he needs someone to keep aggro off him... and so on 3. add professions that are skill based (at least 5x number of classes) and each character can have only one. for example to be a miner, woodcutter or blacksmith you need strength. anyone can be it, but the max profession level (and thus the quality of his work) will be based on his str score. anyone can be a scribe and make consumable scrolls containing one of his skills or spells for anyone to use, but the level of the skill and it's effectiveness will be based on his profession level, limited by his intelligence (same goes for enchanting or alchemy). to make a bow or to harvest animal parts as crafting ingredients or to make jewels you need dexterity and so on 4.make equipment skill based and not class or level based. this armor needs 50 strength? if you have 50str you can wear it regardless of your class or your level. if you have 40, you can find a scribe with a class that has str buffs and buy a ton of scrolls that increase str by 10 for a time to keep your str at 50. and since not every fighter around will be a scribe capable of making such a scroll, the one who is will be rare and important for other players tl;dr less is more in an mmo. the more you restrict what each individual player can do, the more unique and useful each player becomes to the comunity as a whole and the more you encourage interaction between players
  13. last time they had a sale i got Nox. its not a bad game but it releashed together with diablo 2 at the time so it passed un-noticed. still it has it's share of flaws and some of them grave. the forced transition between chapters (each chapter is in a different location and you dont get to choose when to move, so often you may fail quests because the game has thrown you to the next chapter before you could turn them in) the "one way" level design that does not let you go back to town for resuply, usually followed by the chapter transition (a merchant has a really nice item you want but cant afford it. you go in the dungeon to loot some stuff and sell them, but you cant come back out until you run through it all and at the end you move to the next location so you cant get the item) the complete imbalance of the classes with the warrior getting the shortest possible straw (due in no small part to the 2 problems above) since he needs constant gear upgrading and repair and has no way to make the money needed (while the wizard can go around naked for all you care and spend no money at all for anything AND have an easier time in combat)
  14. the policy of EA, Activision, Sony and other such giants is to use the game as bait to milk every last penny out of their customers, even if it has a negative PR impact the policy of CDPR is to keep the customers happy so they will keep buying. the first rule of comerce is "respect the customer and he will come buy again; try to F him and you will lose more customers than just him". sooner or later the giants than keep F-ing the customers will start to see how wrong that practice is
  15. Stupid question : how is that F-35 program seen in the USA? I read a rather long article in a French magazine a few months back which painted an absolutely horrible picture : completely over budget, horribly inefficient, software was ****ed up, cannons weren't working, ordinance capacity were ridiculously low, stealth was a scam, it couldn't get within 25 kilometers of a lightning storm lest it catches on fire, it couldn't dream of performing as well as the planes it was supposed to replace and it had become obsolete for the new kind of war that the USA started fighting after 9/11. the F-35 was designed to do too much for too many and it's performance is lacking in all roles. the vertical flight needs shorter wings and that means less manueverability in a dogfight and less stability in low and slow CAS missions the stealth system requires ALL weapons to be in internal bays or it wont work at all but the VTOL system takes too much space so the amount of space for ordinance is very limited the stealth system (according to the F-16 designer) can only fool american radars. according to rumors, british radars could pick up all stealth aircraft over Iraq by tracking the IR heat signature and US officials were regularly going there to delete the data
  16. one of the worst decisions Greece made was to host the olypmics in 2004. bilions were spent on ifrastructure for the event and all that infrastructure is sitting unused since then. even worse, the state had to pay "protection money" in the form of crime prevention and anti terrorist surveilance equipment (like the C4I from siemens) that was prepaid in full and was never delivered to this day (i.e siemens could pay some mercenary company to stage a terrorist attack and say that "it could have been prevented if you had the C4I that you refused to buy" or in other words "had you paid your protection money")
  17. the whole point was to eventualy make a big federation like USA where several small countries banded together to make a big one. the problem is that you need to make the federation first, create a unified government and institute a set of laws and policies that are the same for all and then make a common coin for use within the federation. or Germany may simply be following Rommel's plan on how to make the 4th reich succeed in conquering europe through money instead of war
  18. with the help of the german and french government at the time, the greek government manipulated/falsified every financial stat possible to get greece in the eurozone, while all of them knew it was simply not viable (and while every honest economist out there warned them not to do it). however germany had much to gain from it and still does. why do you think they talk and talk about grexit but they dont just say "get out of the eurozone and let us all be done with this mess"? they dont want greece out of it... of course they cant kick greece out since the regulations say that "you can quit, but cant get fired", and at one time it may have been about the backlash (that a competent greek government could have used to pressure them) but now it's effect would be minimal since all other EU countries have taken measures against it. nothing keeps them from pushing greece to quit but they dont, because they still have something to gain from the situation. and let's be honest, if germany was in greece's situation, it would have left the eurozone from the first moment instead of slaving away to get a fix like a junkie.
  19. half of the greek economists (and many others) were saying from 2009 that greece should leave the eurozone from that time. they kept repeating (and they were right) that you cant fix your economical problems with borrowed money but nobody listened. also, when you owe 100€ YOU have a problem if you cant pay, when you owe 100.000.000.000€ THEY have a problem if you cant pay.
  20. Worked out well for France and Germany, no ? the problem is not EU, its the euro. you cant have 20 countries with completelly different economies using the same coin without establishing a united economic policy. greece, italy and germany have the same prices for food in super markets, but in greece the pay for someone who just started working is 500 euro, in italy 1500 euro and in germany 2100 euro. the average cost of a 24Mbps ADSL in greece is 28€, in italy 35€ and in germany 8€. the cost of a titanX in greece is 80€ more than italy where it costs 60€ more than germany. the only thing that is cheaper in greece is rent and they ask to lower the entry pay to 350€ and increase taxes while all prices are unchanged... ask if the average german or italian would ever consider possible to barely survive with that ratio of pay/prices and the reason greece has no money? because for 40 years now the governments were giving away free money and all productivity came to a halt. some even say they knew it would end up like this and did it on purpose, and im inclined to believe it since the existence of oil under the sea was known since the 60s but they kept denying it because (as later revealed) they had an agreement to leave that oil untouched until 2012. so they burried the country in debt for 40 years in order to give away for "free" the oil
  21. all political/economical systems are inherently flawed. each serves a purpose at a time and place, but after a period of time it always reaches a dead end and another system must be used to reset the field
  22. this problem was created by the greek media actually. they launched a campaign of panic since the start of June and made people go and withdraw all their money from the banks, leaving them empty. you see most tv stations have debts (over 50M each) towards the state and while the previous governments (the past 30 years) simply left that debt uncolected in exchange for positive publicity and propaganda, this government is trying to colect the money owed and the media are at war with it they outright break the law "on air" in order to sway people against the government. the day before any election, is forbiden to discuss the elections in live tv, yet this saturday a tv station had several members from the "YES" faction discussing and trying to goad people to vote yes. the funny part is that someone sent the police over and they rushed these guests out the back door to avoid getting "caught in the act". of course these news cant be found on mainstream tv, radio or newspapers this is also the reason that the current government has so much support from the people.
  23. He did say that actions of Greece's debtors are terrorism, so I would guess that he would not get most warmest welcome in meetings with other eurozone's finance ministers. Meaning that if Greece hopes to have any change in any negotiations with their debtors he probably should not be part of those negotiations. Yeah I have heard that argument, hopefully that is exactly the reason and outcome But the issue is he represented a certain symbolism around the Greek defiance. Many Greeks really liked him and believed what he said Now the rhetoric is over and the NO vote has won he resigns...what does that say about the veracity and credibility of the NO argument ? Surly for the all the millions of Greeks who stood by his views he needs to continue to represent the NO perspective and ideological stance ? That is something that only Greeks themselves can give answer. I think the vast majority of Greeks have been mislead and manipulated by the current Greek government and they will now face dire consequences. And trust me for those that think " it can't get worse " ....it can get worse. I live in Africa and I can give you many examples of just how bad it can get dire how? its not like there's anything left to lose, the previous government has seen to that
  24. hahaha, that new one "simonetta... something" is hillarious. it shows how the world will be if it becomes the politically correct utopia the feminazi want it to be.
  25. Wanting to pretty much be given billions of EUR as a gift, is a strange position from which to say "NO" and be proud of it. gift? the money is given as loan with a very hefty interest rate in the last 5 years Germany has paid nothing to anyone and has gotten over 500M euro from Greece as interest for the bailout loans. they even admited it publicly! Greece is getting loans with high interest to pay off loans with low interest and is called a thief too because misinformed people say that the rest of the EU is giving away taxpayer money for free. and that is because 5 years ago, the then PM Papandreou "sold" the greek economy to the IMF and to the germans for a share of the pie. because of his antics during his time as a PM, there was even a rumor (unconfirmed but plausible since he was born there and has the citizenship) that he could not go to USA because there was a federal arrest warrant for him there, for "conspiracy against the state". They ask that partial of their debt will be forgiven, so one can argue that they ask billions of euros as gift. And many people all around EU saw those emergency loans as gift at first place. Germany bought most Greece's loans to independent creditors which they weren't capable to pay , and actually lowered Greece's interest rate on those loans. And Germany is biggest participant in ECB and other instances that constantly give Greece emergency funds so that they can pay their loans and pay pension, unemployment benefit, salaries for public employees and so on. Germany is not guilt free in this crisis, but they have put most money and time in solving it. that my friend is misinformation. as i wrote in another post, without any outside financial support since august 2014, the greek government has paid all it's internal obligations (schools, health, salaries and so on) and gave 17 bilion for the loans. ALL of the money "given" to greece have gone to pay off old debts... for the inside needs there are more than enough do you know the scene from the movie about apollo 13 where that guy says "we have to find a way to fit this sphere into this cube"? this is what is happening right now. the previous governments, instead of making a deal about the money owed, they recklesly took loans to pay off loans and thus increased the overall debt making more loans necessary... and now this government tries to stop the chain reaction and guess who does not want it to stop: those who give the loans. Germany could have bailed out on greece at any time but it keeps pouring money to it... you think they do it out of the kindness of their hearts? they stand to gain more than they spend if the loan reaches a certain height with a greek government willing to cooperate and sell them EVERYTHING to make up for that loan. and that is also the reason germany has done everything possible to sabotage any effort to solve the problem and force the greek government to quit
