  1. Not really. Well, they are both TB squad tactical games, but they are very different. Both are ace though. There's an awesome new mod out for Jag 2 that was just updated a couple weeks ago. Hundreds of new weapons, sounds, combat options, attachmennts etc and so forth. High res options, too. edit: I'm not talkign abotu FO:tactics. Just XCOM and Jag 2 btw.
  2. 1) The OP is about the graphics in G3, so that's what I was talking about in the thread. If someone makes a thread about G3's story or skill system, I'll talk about that. 2) Oblivion is the first CRPG I've ever played where the graphics were of such quality that they enhanced my level of enjoyment and immersion in the game. The first non-crpg that did this for me was Farcry. Until then I had always been of the opnion that graphics didn't matter much. But seeing what these new engines can do has caused me to totally change my mind. Graphics are really important now in creating a gameworld, and the engines are becoming more and more integrated into the gameworld and affect how the game is played, not just how it looks. 3)World of Warcarft was what I first though of when I saw the screenies. Not sayign it looks exactly like it, merely that it has a cartoony look. Not as bad as Wow of course, which is cartoon city stylistically. Cartoony was OK for XCOM and MOO and Duke 3D, but I'm not big on it in my games anymore.
  3. My first thought on seeing the graphics was WOW. And you're right, the background environments do look pretty much on par with the Oblivion. It's the monsters and npcs that look cartoony. But, like you said, stylistic.
  4. I've been really really looking forward to this game. I still am, but those graphics are a bit of a disappointment. They look quite a bit more cartoony than Oblivion. Especially the npc avatars (what I assume are npcs avatars that is). Maybe its just the overbright colors. I also don't like the look of the battle axe or what I assume is a spear? None of those things would keep me from buying the game, of course, but Oblivion has really upped the graphical ante for crpg gameworlds for me. Its tough to go backwards.
  5. Yes. ALmost Identical Yes. A few improvements. SOme things aren't as good either Unlikely
  6. Installed the patch with no problems. Took about 30 seconds. Everything is running fine. It was running fine before, too. My install is completely unmodded, however. Also my pc has no junk installed on it either. So.
  7. foofles! Its a fine game and Bethesda deserves a lot of credit for putting it all together. I'm glad it's doing so well for them. Its not a perfect game but what is? Even Jag 2 wasn't perfect. Although it came close. Now I just hope NWN2 amnd Gothic 3 can be equally as impressive. If so its a banner year for crpgs.

  9. Reflexive had their collective heads so far up their arses. Cabal basically drove away anybody who had interest in the game with his continual: "well, if you don't liek it, don't buy the game" mantra. They pretty much ignored everybody's suggestions and released an astounding chunk of poo. The whole "there-will be-no-pause-function-in-this-game" fiasco was hilarious. Or would be if it hadn'tr destroyed a promising game idea.
  10. I still have Star Trail and Blade of Destiny, I think. Plus of course Shadows over Riva. I never thought any of them were all that great. Not that what they once were has anythng to do with what they might be in the future.
  11. I'm running an adpatec 29320ALP which gives up to 15 SCSI Ultra 320 drives on one cable. I use the IDE only for my DVD drives.
  12. Ah, I do so remember my Diamond Stealth "3d" card with a whopping 1MB of memory. How quaint it seems now. Or my Orchid Farenheit Vesa Local card. It seemed so awesome at the time.
  13. It also contains The Pocket Guide to the Empire Exactly the kind of thing everyone must have for their pocket. Really, it's incredible al the cool stuff yo can get in CE's. Ebay here I come!
  14. Its authentic AND replictaed. How cool is that. Envy my Coin.
  15. Yes, the regular version has a lovely map. You're just jealous of my Big Coin.
  16. The Big Coin beats Ice Dice any day.
  17. I have a copy of the Collector's Edition and the regular Edition. I also bought the strat guide. The Collector's Edition has a big coin inside. total awesome.
  18. The ES forums do not have the brightest and most interesting posters on the net. Not to say they are all bad, but the quality is pretty low. It used to be a pretty cool place to hang-out, back in the pre-Morrowind release days. And afterwards it was still ok for a while. Then Bethesda nuked the boards and forced everyone to reregister. I never borthered at that point.
  19. Omg, if I had oodles of money I would so buy an ALienware. But I don't have oddles so I build my own. Mine aren't as cute though.
  20. Xbox xbox360. I can't tell the difference. Well, one i shaed like an X so I guess I can. Di, it's Xbox 360! Not Xbox! Sorry. :">
  21. Buy an XBOX, Di! If you already have a decent TV it isn't too expensive.
  22. Don't let yourself become boring, Hades dear. The world is chock full of open-minded rational people. eh. well maybe not, but you get the point.
  23. poopy animation. Can't do everything and something's got to go. And spears are made to be tossed.
  24. foof. I always mess up a good thing. hyperlink dialougue is a solid foundation for any marriage.
  25. There aren't any devs I trust enough, but sometimes we as humans are forced to irrational acts of love and devotion. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Will you marry me? Yes. [ ] No. [ ] Place an x in the appropriate box. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Are you developing a wiki-style crpg? I swoon over hype-linked text.
