  1. There aren't any devs I trust enough, but sometimes we as humans are forced to irrational acts of love and devotion.
  2. I was just looking over the gameplay section of the FAQ again and really, if even most of the stuff in the FAQ is accurate and well-implemented, this will be one of the best single-player crpgs ever. FOr those who are actually interested: http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.p...5entry3495765 I am sewriously thinking abot buying it the day of release again. *twitches*
  3. Because you are a different person and as such approach things differently. That'll be 10
  4. well, I'm not trying to defend anything. Just trying to figure out why some people are so bothered by certain things, and I am not. I mean, I'm not trying to be antagonistic, I really just don't see the difference between the wiki approach vs the dialogue tree approach. One does not make a game better than the other, as I see it. But obviously some people feel that it does.
  5. It always cracked me up that I would save Killian's ass in several involved quests and at the end of it all he wouldn't remember me.
  6. Gaming for me is more of an intellecutal exercise than one of connecting to a character. I guess I look at playing a game as "solving a puzzle" more than anything else. Probably that's why things like story and character and what not don't trouble me too much. I don't know. We all game for our own reasons.
  7. WHat AI system has ever lived up to its pre-relase hype? None that I can think of. AI claims just need to be taken with a grain of salt. Maybe I've just played too many computer games in my life, but it doesn't bother me if a game uses a conversation tree or keywords or a text parser or whatever. I've enjoyed games that used all those different dialogue systems and I've disliked games that used all those different dialogue systems. I know its all personal opinion, but I have never understood how clicking a dialogue line is any different from clicking a single word. How is the game experience changed? The usual argument I hear is its less immersive. Right, so is launching a fireball. Maybe I'm just less demanding about what I expect from games. Don't know really.
  8. Though I am a grotesque ES fangirl, I agree with Grommy that pre-ordering this game is kind of eh risky. Unless, you totally loved MW. Which I did, but I'm still not pre-ordering it. The world of software does not love those who pre-order.
  9. Well, the spear animations looked like crap in MW when viewed from third person, s rather then spend a lot of dev time to design whole set of good animations for that one weapon, they just left it out. Disapppointing, yes, but I agree with the thought process. NO game has enough time to do everything.
  10. I'm already wetting myself with excitement! Too bad I probably won't be able to run it very well. AH well, I'll give it a try and see how it goes. If it doesn't run I'll put in on the shelf until I have a better pc.
  11. foof. I'd rather pay rent and eat for a month.
  12. On a side note, this spreading RLY obsession is disturbing.
  13. Thee's enough fbombs in that thread to flatten a small city. Go Codex Go! I see little Volo's popularity remains high as ever.
  14. You're right, of course. It's just revisting the whole Cthulu thing has resulted in my feeling unexpectedly bitter. I sincerely hope Bioshock does have a pc version. But thing I hope for seem rarely to happen.
  15. cf. Call of Cthulu. Publishers don't give a **** about history.
  16. No, my account got shut down due to inactivity.
  17. Or Troika should have fixed the game properly themselves. Or even better relased it in working condition. Never Troika's strong point however. I guess self-proclaimed genius can't be bothered with the trivialties of bug-fixing.
  18. So that's how it happened, eh? I left the official forums late last year and never went back. I'm not one to bring up the whole pc vs console debate, because for the most part I don't care. But it was always a ****ty deal that a game that had always been something that pc fans followed faithfully for YEARS was turned into an xbox-only title at essentially the very last moment. The way the talk was going at the forums at the time I left, I assumed that there woudl never be a pc version, and it looks like for the most part I would have been right. Probably better an xbox-only title than vaporware, but still the whole thing sucked.
  19. How do you know this? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I hadn't heard this, but it wouldn't surprise me. A lot of time was spent turning it from a pc title to an xbox title. I don't think they want to spend any money developing or supporting it as a pc title. I don't think they want to spend any more money on it all. Frankly, its a bleeding miracle the game ever made it to the shelves. I am going to wait for a review of the pc release, assume that is the finished product, and decide at that point how much I am willing to spend. I'm sure I'll get it eventually. The thought of running around in Innsmouth is just cool.
  20. Yes, the pc version was dropped after the publisher change and the version that had spent all those years in development as a pc title was forced into an X shape. This caused quite a few problems with the finished game. There was no word orignially that a pc version would even be released. I guess its nice that it has now been confirmed, but its toobad it never wil be what it could have been. ANyway, as I suggewsted before, I recommend you read reviews and talk to people who own it. The game has a lot of problematic issues. It also has good things too. The question you have to answer is do the problematic things bother you or not.
  21. I was following the game for all those years in dev hell, and I was always very excited about it. I couldn't believe when the time came and it was actually released. Sinced then I've heard a lot of less than enthusiastic things about it. I'll probably pick it up in the bargain bin some day. And I'm a hardcore Lovecraft devotee as well. So I advise caution and read some reviews before you buy. If you know what you are getting into, thewn you will probably be ok with it, if you don't, you'll probably be pissed off and angry.
  22. What if it actually does turn out to be the greatest CRPG ever?
  23. Well, that kinda sucks. I'm nowhere near ready for it yet. Which means I am going to have to studiously avoid all Oblivion threads for the next 6 months. AH well, at least I get to wait for the patches bewfore I get involved with it.
  24. I have no problem with this. Better to target an audience a make a game that will please them vs trying to make one game that pleases everyone but which usually fails to please anybody. Unfortunately, every publisher is lusting after the uber-seller that cuts sells well across a wide swath of demographics. So that pretty much leaves niche games, or even games with niche elements out of the loop. Its a sad state of affairs to be sure. The big unknown right now is how large scale broadband access will affect game distribution. If developers can build their games, stick them on their websites, and ignore the publishers, then the gaming market and especially the PC gaming market, will explode wide open. But that can only hapen when buying and accessing paid content across the internet becomes comonplace. You can bet publishers are quite scared of that scenario at the moment though.
