Best description ever of Oblivion facegen.
-
I'm having a difficult time making a pc that doesn't have a yellow face. They all look sick. I hate facegen. I eventually figured out the one in Oblivion, but this one is different and less easy to use. The lighting in the character face circle is really bad; I can't even tell what color the hair and eyes are very well.

I was going to buy that, but I never did because in the end I thought it would be to boring with just action. Now I am sad.

All that Thief talk in the Yahtzee thread has me thinking of digging up and reinstalling Thief-TDP. But I'm just starting FO3, so I can't.
-
Is that Dark Messiah of Might and Magic that you all are talking about?
-
never heard that one before. I enjoyed Deadly Shadows. As a sequel to a franchise tt worked out much better than Invisible War ever did. But the first 2 Thief games pretty much stand alone in what they do.
-
Because it is a work of brilliance! Brilliance, I say. Unlike most Thief fans, I guess, I did enjoy The Dark Project more then The Metal Age. I liked the zombies and ghosts. They were cool and scary. I wasn't as big a fan of the robots in The Metal Age. The Hammerites remain some of my all time favorite computer game foes. When they would come charging at you with the giant freaking hammer raised high, spouting some fanatical gibberish I would wet myself and scream. GOod times.

The perks are pretty weak individually. For the most part at a first glance. HAving them every level isn't too big a deal. I'm not really using VATS. I've been hitting things with a bat and just doing regular fps shooting with my pistol.

lol. Too true. By the time I clicked on the exit door it was too late. Once the "redo your pc?" screen came up there was no way to get out of it to save. Or at least I couldn't figure out a way. I guess I'll sit through Liam Neeson's cringe inducing dialogue once more. I hope I can remember which one is the exit door before I click on it.

Blame Bethesda! Not the engine. The engine doesn't write horrible dialogue, create flat lifeless characters, or tell a banal story.

I think I am going to restart. I'm not very far along and I'm already beginning to regret everyone who is lying dead in my wake. Does anybody know if there is a mod yet to remove the growing up/turorial part? I really don't want to have to go through that again. So far that is really the only thing I dislike about the game. But I REALLY dislike it. A pox on Bethesda for such crap.

Does some of this stuff like WOnderglue have an actual use in game? I've got an 8 strength and yet am at the limit of what I can carry. I need to dump some stuff, but I can't tell what is useful and what is just clutter. edit: well some stuff like plates and cups are pretty obvious clutter. But what about a motorcyle clutch? Weird stuff like that.

We've already seen a couple Russian attempts at Jagged Alliance. They all turned out horrible. I don't know using the FO3 engine has to do with making a good or a bad game either. It would be interesting if someone starting putting out some Jag 2 type mods for the game.

Where do you see that? I've actually seen a reverse trend, the ratings board for movies has gotten stricter. A lot of 80's movies got a PG rating that clearly deserved a PG-13. (edit - not deserve, but rather they would get PG-13 today based on language) I would say there is more sexual content on TV than there used to be, but a nude scene in a movie is a guaranteed R rating. Honestly, I'd have to think about it. I don't pay as much attention to movies as I did when I was younger. The impression I have though is that in todays PG13 films mild nudity, the occasional boob or bum, isn't as outrageous as it was 20 years ago. I don't really know too much about PG movies (vs PG13), they tend to fall outside my interest level all together.

The guy just cracks me up. I spit out my soup a couple times during that. ANyway, its nice to a classic game remembered fondly. Has any other game had rope arrows?
-
Movie standards for violence and nudity are a lot lower (higher?) than they used to be though. Boobs even show up in PG13 movies. But not in games, for whatever reason.

SEGA Announces New Aliens vs. Predator Game

But that is pretty much a given. AT least in terms of the difficulty of the combat. btw, its not dumbing down. it's streamlining. Which always reminds me of Full Metal Jacket: It is no longer "search and destroy"; it is "sweep and clear". lol. -
AT the moment, nobody appears to have any better alternatives, so I agree. Although I remain open to new ways of doing all the above.

Let's just make shooters where you can't die at all.

BREAKING NEWS: DEAD RISING 2 ANNOUNCED

One problem among many to be sure, but still.... -
So I played for a few hours. The tutorial/growing up thing was pretty tedious, but once that ended things were OK. I killed everybody in the vault then went into a nearby town and beat some people to death with my bat and took their stuff. I'm enjoying the scavenger hunt aspect of the game more than anything else. For some reason, I'm not feeling any inclination to be nice to anyone. I'll talk to people briefly, then I hit them with my bat. I think it is because I've decided that I'm really not interested in anything Bethesda's writers can come up with, so why bother listening. So far though I am enjoying being a psychotic brute quite a lot, and am curious to see how the game responds to it. The baseball bat is a great starter weapon. I've used the handgun a bit, but it is not as fun as the bat. The FPS combat is pretty easy so far, probably because I've been playing STALKER: CS right before this, and as far as FPS combat goes, there is really no comparison. But yeah, so far its decent.

Just started playing FO3. In response to the overlong and annoying intro tutorial, I beat the overseer to death with a baseball bat. Jerk. Actually I beat everyone to death with a baseball bat. Well some of them wouldn't die, so, but still... I have a difficult time taking a game even remotely seriously where drinking out of the crapper gives me health instead of an intestinal parasite. Still, it is amusing. Why does everybody's head pop off like a dandelion?
