  1. My reason for being here is for me to know and you to figure out.... And I'm not stalking SP.....I was here first!!!!
  2. At base a GOOD CRPG. That is an involving main story that pulls you into the game. As for style I would want: FO'ish games Cyberpunk games Traveller games Darksun games Planescape games What I don't want is a carboncopy dwarves and elves without any original ideas, because that we already had a lot of during the years. We need something new or something that have not been over used during the years.
  3. Realy don't know how the japanese TB games sells, since I don't generally don't like the anime style characters in games (don't mind them in comics though, not that we have that many of those here in Sweden). But sure it is interesting that they sell. Might be a differnt tradition in gaming styles, or just that we don't get that many good TB here at all so they can't get a new market here. Who knows.
  4. Me I think they will be using the D20 SW rules. Modern D20 rules might be interesting as well, but don
  5. Which might be just why we continue the discussion with you. It is not like we think that you are going to change your view now.
  6. The Temple of Elemental Evil is one of the best known D&D modules, if not the best known, regardless of whether it is Greyhawk or not. But like I said above it sold really well at first based on that name and because it was D&D. It is well known to be a hack and slash modul of little worth. Half of all modules made are better. It is only concidered classic since it was a very early module when very few was produced, and the quality of those produced was questionable at best. A harsh realty, but I had to live through it at the time.
  7. Not true. They just have to be from comparable games. JRPGs dont have movement. Movement is the aspect that slows STB games to a crawl. Ergo if that puts you off TB games it wont be a factor in a JRPG. Because STB's and RTWP's both have movement they have far more in common than either has with a JRPG. I see no reason to argue over this since I have had some experience from IP forum that support my view, but you might see things differently. Objectivity is just a myth.
  8. Agree on that, but from what I could see on it's site it could have been an interesting game to get.........if it was not console only (I have not looked recently but it was console only before).
  9. What titles are you comparing here? Why are TB JRPGs excluded from the sales figures?!? You bring them up but fail to give an explanation. You can't use famous game licenses as an excuse for high TB sales and not for high RT sales. The question you should be asking is, did KOTOR sell because it was real time?? Look, if a game has a famous license, gets good reviews and is advertised on TV, its going sell. I think the only comparison that could quite possibly work is Silent Storm vs Commmandos. Anyone have the sales figures for that? Thing to remember: Selling numbers are only of consequence when they support SP. Otherwise they are anomalies.
  10. Have to agree with Hades one. Without SW and Bioware stamped on the game it probably would have had booth a slower start at sales and fewer sales. That said, I did actualy like KotOR even if it had a lot that needed to be improved.
  11. Care to comment why TB is more "Geekieness" then RT? Personaly I always got the feeling the the gaming to begin with was the "Geekieness" Factor, not the type of battle system the game had.
  12. I really can't see what your hurry is. What does it matter if the fight takes 100 s instead of 10s? It is not a race against the clock to finish the game. I prefere full control, which RT don't give, to have fast fights.
  13. Some people trying to make Sigilk for NWN: http://www.city-of-doors.com/modules.php?o...4&orderby=dateD
  14. Maybe that do have something to do with little SP and some other IP fanatics that actualy can be down right rude and insulting in discusions, and the less said about SP's arguments in these discussions the better. Anyway, a lot of the bad posts on IP have to do with some choices IP have done, like pulling the plug on FO3 and make bad console FO games instead, so the way things are on IP board hardly should be any supprise considering the feedback they have had during the years. Lol I never realised I was this famous. If it continues I'm going to start demanding endorsement fee's :D I'll share the bottom line failing in the FO cadre "arguement" with you shall I ? It's simply that because we think this way you should to. If you dont agree with us then you are an idiot. Regardless of the reality of the situation. Thats what happens when you cut yourself off from the rest of society and live in your own little commune. Actually I reply in kind. If people are civil I am civil back to them. B) There is no point challenging peoples opinions, unless those opinions are made on flawed assumpstions that is. Intrigueing, so you and some others had the "right" to treat others like they were unable to think, that is anything they say can't be true and everything they said needed to be validated with signatures from people in power while whatever you said was laid down as truth whatever it was? I can admitt that some fansites have been less then polite, and could need to clean up the membership a bit. Profanitys as arguments are never going to win any points, but that did not give you the "right" to do anything. Two wrongs do not make one right. A "famous" quote from SP: "It makes perfect sense. You simply didnt understand it. Next.."
  15. It is just in teamplay RT is most limiting, not when you just have one character to take care of. This will remain true as long as no true AI have been made to handle team mates in a perfect way (and no such thing has been done so far). I have to say that the more characters under your control, the less usefull do I find RT. I also hate bad control subrutines for NPC team mates as well.
  16. KotOR did not have true automatic weapons, which in itself is strange since it is a futuristc game, and any use of autofire when your team mates is in melee with opponent is not very realistic (unless you realy hate the fellow team mate in melee that is ). Kotor did give a good use of singe shot fire though, that I admit. Another thing that had been better in KotOR with the TB would have been some bloody control so that you team mates, that was not under direct control, did not run of to set of another spawnpoint on starforge (hated that). When it did not matter where and when none directly controlled character moved during combat the RT worked fine, but that removed most of any tactical decisions from the game. FOT did not work pefectly RT, which was because there was autofire in the game and you had to control an entire team.
  17. Yeas, cause the sequals are always better No because the first one was lacking in some aspects, and any half competent game producer that just add a little more would make a better game. That said, concidering that the people at Obsidian have had experience already making games it should not be any problem making a better game, if they just add to what was in first KotOR.

  19. For those that liket the PnP DS: http://www.athas.org/ And for those that play NWN and liked DS: http://www.athasiannights.com/ http://www.darksunonline.org/ Anyway, As I see it, it was the but ugly cover on the box and the fact that you were not allowed to create any type of character you wanted (story was linked to a specific character) that put of a lot of players. Those that despite this did play it usually got fascinated by the game after awhile when they got into the story. KotOR shows that a story similar to the one on PST could have been done with some modifications, but probably would not would have been as good as the one in PST. It's a give and take I guess. They probably would have to work a lot more on the story if it was to be able to fit a mix of different characters as well as the no named character. But if they take the time to do that I'm qute sure they could come up with a PS game (not a sequel, but a CRPG in same setting) that would be as fascinating as PST and allow a wider choice of characters.
  20. Me I think they will be using the D20 SW rules. Modern D20 rules might be interesting as well, but don
  21. I'm adding my support to the TB side. Any auto fire that don't risk hitting a friend in melee with your oponent is stupid, and autofire in RT is therefore either stupid or dangerous if you control a team and don
  22. Ouch! I sincerly hope not, I'm still in pain after the last two kicks in the FO fanbase's groin.
  23. KotOR was kind of fun, considering how limited you was in what you were allowed to do, but if they make a KotORII I expect it to be a lot better then the first one. KotOR needed a lot better side quests that actualy allowed the story to change a bit. As darkside you were railroaded along the same story line as light side Jedi was. You could not even turn the first dark Jedi you met, that was fallen and was supposed to join you, to the dark side. And you could not try to take over neither the assassin guild or the Sith academy (well if you beat the game I guess you by default took over it when you ruled all the Sith, but you should have been allowed to do so earlier and maybe take up an alternative dark side companion as well there). In general the interaction with your companions and the ability to change their opinions through the game was limited, as was the romance option (if you wanted that). Another thing is that the console mini-games should be optional on PC. Not that I ever had any problem with the gun turret game, but there was a lot of players complaining about it on the KotOR forum. One thing I did like was the weapon/armor options, but they should have better optional parts to put in the games later on so you could use your old trust sidearm without having to switch to a bteer one later on.
  24. FO3 always comes to mind when games-one-wants-but-probably-never-will-see comes up. Darksun and planscape games are other games I would want one day to see again, but hopefully in DS case with a lot better graphic. Then there is always some proper dark and gritty CRPG cyberpunk game, which is not a very common thing in the PC game world. A CRPG traveller game in style of the old PnP "the travellers adventure", in which you played a merchant crews adventues and misadventures. That was a very interesting adventure to play.
