8600s are out now
No, but they argue that 7600GT was a much better card because it gave much better performance than a 6600GT for the same price point. Except, of course that that is only true if you compare the 7600GT's price on its release with the 6600GT's price on it's release. At the time the 7600GT was released you could get a 6600GT for much less than $200. As such, by their reasoning, the 7600GT should be considered as a bad a card as the 8600GTS. Graphics cards are always too expensive at the point of release, and to criticize Nvidia's new cards while praising previous cards which suffered from the same problem is dumb. And this doesn't even take into account DX10 issues. Edit: Note that I'm not arguing that the new cards are good cards. I'm arguing that that specific review is a bad review.

8600s are out now
The 7600GT is considerably cheaper than $200. The 7600GT is in the $120 range. There really isn't anything worth buying around $200 at the moment. The X1950 Pro and the 7900GS Are pretty even and can both be found in the sub $200 range. I know. But it wasn't at that price when it was released, which is what matters in context of this specific review.

8600s are out now
Correct me if I'm wrong but the card they should be testing against the 7600GT is the 8600GTS, as it is the card that is in the 200$ price range. The 8600GT costs about 150$, which I guess makes it equivalent to the 7600GS. Also, those benchmarks seem strange as I get a lot better that 30 FPS in F.E.A.R. at 1280x1024 with my 7600GT. Edit:I just read their update at the end of the review, however they're still wrong. They have to compare the prices of the new cards with the prices of the other cards on release. Of course, if you have a 7600GT, you shouldn't upgrade to a 8600GT (or even a GTS), but I don't need a review to tell me that.

How was the next day?
Tomorrow is my birthday and it will probably suck. I have a massive cold, and a test on Thursday for which I have to study. So I'll spend the day alone studying, fighting the cold, and perhaps gaming a little.

I'm more interested in seeing what happens to Nvidia's prices when these babies get released.

Ninja Gaiden Black
This is one game that makes me wish I had a console. How hard can it be to do a stupid PC port?

What are you playing now?
Dark Waters mod for NWN2. I'm having fun, although it's more like an adventure game than an RPG. The voice acting is almost universally awful. Death's understudy (Discworld anyone?) is one of the exceptions.

How was the next day?
Nah, it leaves you too exposed to the "we're just very good friends" scenario. I recommend this: enlist said girl to help you find your perfect partner in doing so, obviously identify all the qualities you are looking for (don't be tempted to make cheap sexist and lookist comments) coincidentally, it will become obvious that she shares (all!) these qualities in searching, you must also endeavour to appear totally desirable (to her as well as others), so no awful personal hygiene etc; appearing vulnerable to her (and no-one else) is typically good (if she is after the sensitive type), although it can backfire; do date her suggestings, and this will help:show her how much others like dating you give you some practice to do in the meantime [*]eventually (not too early) try to engineer some direct comparisons between her soon-to-be-ex and you, in things that you are confident with and better at (like philosobabble, for example ) If that doesn't work, you'll have found someone else in the meantime, anyway. I wonder what meta's wife would say about this post...

Spartans the Model for the Mandalorians?
I also wondered how they managed to run about in the battlefield without tripping on their own long ass capes.

What do you mean by intellectual inheritance? Western culture didn't get racism from the Greeks, even as an idea.

Halo Hype
I thought the story in itself wasn't particularly good. What made it stand out was the way the narrative was integrated into the game, instead of being developed through a cutscene or just written in the readme. It made you feel part of the story.
-
Halo Hype
HL's story was only good when compared to the stories of previous mainstream FPSs (Doom, Quake, Duke Nukem 3D, and the like). For some reason, that prompted gaming journalists to say that HL had a great story.

Go play Bubble Bobble, then. Or Secret Of Mana. Or whatever with co-op. What puts Halo above any previous game with co-op?

Yes, Episode III sucks, and that is just one of the ways in which it sucks. Move along, now.
