  1. One thing a non-force sensitive PC has going for it is the legitimization of ranged combat. I'm sorry, but if I know I'm getting a lightsaber later, I'm not spending feats on rapid shot or blaster specialization. I'm sorry, I'm just not. The idea of a level 20 dedicated scoundrel or soldier is interesting, but the masses aren't gonna buy a SW RPG with not a lightsaber to be found. Maybe this could be a solution to the huge storyline questions posed for KOTOR 3. New PC flies with a motley crew of new and returning characters to find out what happened to the Exile who went to find out what happened to Revan. This way you get your "regular Joe" PC and you get some Jedi NPCs. Of course, if you get those royal badasses to join with you, your pitiful new PC will soon be relegated to rotating stock in the Hawk's pantry.
  2. I believe I read here a while back that she will only answer that question if you ask during the first conversation you have with her on the Ebon Hawk. Others here could confirm or deny this, and probably will.
  3. If you have a pretty good CD drive in your computer, you are going to be shocked at how long it takes the Xbox to rip CD audio to its hard drive. You'll probably get sick of waiting around long before you run out of hard drive space. My friend has his (modded) box on a home network and transfers mp3s that way. If that's an option for you, it's much faster. Also, modded Xboxes with an explorer style program can copy audio or video from data CD-RWs.
  4. KOTOR III: Greedo Shot First KOTOR III: KOTOR With a Vengeance KOTOR III: Dr. Zelka (Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Let the Developer Make the Freaking Game) KOTOR 3D: Hail to the Sith, baby! KOTOR U2: How To Dismantle a Joshua Tree You Can't Leave Behind Under a Blood Red Sky
  5. "First of the Gang to Die," off Morrissey's newest album. Catchiest single I've heard in a long time. He performed it on Conan a few months ago dressed like a Catholic priest. The band was on fire. It was brilliant, and that's when I decided I had waited long enough to "try" Morrissey/The Smiths. Well, I guess it's not a joke. I don't think the pixies fall into that "art-noise rock" genre at all. There's a lot of substance in their songs (with a few exceptions). I'm not going to weigh in on Sonic Youth, because I've only listened to a few of their songs. They seemed to be all avant-garde, no substance - not really my thing.
  6. What's the name of the single (w00t) Audioslave: Like A Stone Exploder <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The new single is called "Be Yourself." Yeah. Seriously, Chris Cornell is a great singer and I'm glad he's finally kicked his demons, but the lyrics on this sucker are sappy "I'm OK, you're OK, we're all special and unique snowflakes" sort of stuff. We aren't exactly talking about "The Day I tried to Live" or "Fell On Black Days," here.
  7. (Famous) Grunge hierarchy: Soundgarden STP Alice in Chains Nirvana, Pearl Jam Bush Silverchair, Candlebox Hole Creed/3 Doors Down/Days of the New/Puddle of Mudd, Nickelback ect. ect. "Nickelback? Well, after listening to them I wanted my nickel back!" sigh....
  8. Come on, you're not even intrigued to hear if Cornell can pull off "Killing in the Name of?" What about the Soundgarden tunes? Soundgarden was (hell, is) one of my all-time favorite bands - although I will never understand why they released "Spoonman" as a single. Admittedly, the new single is lame. The debut album was pretty good though. Not as good as SG or Rage were, but hey, that's the past. As for Morello, his politics and his degree, well, if we go socialist he'd be giving me some serious cash, that's for sure. And Lenny Kravitz is the worst songwriter in the world. He makes Vince Neil look like Morrissey.
  9. I tell you what I would like to be listening to right now...a nice soundboard recording of Audioslave's Las Vegas show on the 14th. Apparently at the first show of their new tour, the guys played a few golden oldies. My jaw would have hit the floor if I saw this. http://www.audioslaved.com/ftopict-6307.html
  10. Let me be the first to be anal and correct you: The name of that song is "Bullet with Butterfly Wings." Right now: Ted Leo and the Pharmacists - The Ballad of the Sin Eater Ted lets out a load of "ugly American" guilt. You didn't think they could HATE ya now, didya?
  11. I heard (from a pretty heavy-duty Catholic) the next time a Pope takes the name of Peter, the end times will be upon us. REPENT!
  12. So what if the name Malak has been around? At least it's a suitable name for a Sith Lord. If you were on the cusp of galactical dominance would you rather have an "original" name that inspires laughter instead of fear? Two words: Freedon Nadd There was overreaction on both parts back there, but I just hate it when people pull rank because they have more posts. KOTOR was a fun game - I think that would be board consensus. So before you drag up a 1960s cartoon as an excuse to bemoan Bioware's alleged lack of creativity, please don't rely on a seniority-based urination contest to prove your point. Yikes.
  13. I've been listening to the first Violent Femmes album lately. Those tunes have really stood the test of time. Also, I ran across the Jets to Brazil (laozi mentioned them the other day) album "Orange Rhyming Dictionary" the other day and picked it up. I've listened to it almost the whole way through and I'm thinking it's pretty damn cool.
  14. I respect Fugazi's DIY-ethic, and I know some people that absolutely worship them - but I never could really get into their music. Right now: Swingin Utters - The Next in Line
  15. That is probably my favorite non-Pixies Frank Black album. Nothing can step to Doolittle, but I am more often in the mood for the Catholics than the Pixies these days. I've been listening to Black Love by the Afghan Whigs almost nonstop for a few days now. It's the perfect bridge between the styles of Gentlemen and 1965, a progression from angry, grungy hard rock to sleazy, funky hard rock. I also think it might be a concept album about adultery, and I'm a sucker for concept albums. The only other albums I've been listening to are Bob Dylan's Desire and the new Gorillaz.
  16. Concurrence: Family Guy, ATHF and Sealab 2021 are all worthy pieces of animation and the only shows for which I "focus my optical receptors." Exclamation: Holy crap! Did you see that freaking chopper explode! I KNOW I saw that freaking chopper...
  17. Niiiiiice, Jaguar, heh heh. One from the archives... What most people don't know is that any mobster who applied the cement shoes owes a debt to Homer, as Achilles cut down a poor Trojan named Lycaon in the Illiad - and tossed his body into the Scamander River. "There - lie there! Make your bed with the fishes now, they'll dress your wound and lick it clean of blood - so much for your last rites! Nor will your mother lay your corpse on a bier and mourn her darling son - whirling Scamander will roll you down the sea's broad bosom! And many a fish, leaping up through the waves, breaking the cold ripples shivering dark will dart and bolt Lycaon's glistening fat! Die Trojans, die! Till I butcher all the way to sacred Troy - run headlong on, I'll hack you from behind! Nothing can save you now...."
  18. That commercial was a genius ploy by Darius Rucker to get back in the spotlight for the upcoming Hootie reunion tour!!!! WOO! Well, it's probably just to help him pay that overdue electric bill.
  19. Under the mask is none other than...... PETER FRAMPTON! [insert talk-box smiley here]
  20. I still get all teary-eyed when I see that music video. Playing right now: Hootie and the Blowfish - Time What? My mom used to play 'em all the time when I was growing up...and they've grown on me, damn it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Jesus.... Your mom? Hootie and the Blowfish was my first concert. I'm gonna have a beer to remind myself that I'm still in college and I'm not old. Heh... I still defend the quality of Hootie's music on a routine basis. Anyway, right now: Todd Snider, this country-rock sorta dude who was up for a Grammy this year. He's playing tomorrow night about a half hour from my college, so I'll probably go check him out. Lately: Jurassic 5 - Power in Numbers, Afghan Whigs - Gentlemen Also: the new Queens of the Stone Age album sucks
  21. Subjective. My opinion is Johnny Cash's album is nearly ALL singles made by other people. and i was never a fan of puffdady in the same respect. I've heard many JC cd's and im not a fan in paicular. most likely because im from a newer generation. i do like many older artist though! including the beatles, doors, pink floyd. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Without Johnny Cash, there's no Mike Ness. Without Mike Ness, punk rock would be full of whining emo-pansies. Not that I necessarily hate emo (just most of it), but Johnny Cash made people want to be James Dean with a guitar, not Bridget Jones with a diary. Joe Strummer, Lars Frederiksen, hell anyone who can be a tough guy and tell a story at the same time owes a debt to the Man in Black. If he didn't want to write many of his own songs for the American recordings, so what? He's Johnny Cash, he's earned the right to do whatever the hell he wants to do.
  22. I believe the "thumbs-up" originally had phallic connotations, too. Symbol of virility, that sort of thing.
  23. Yep, that pretty much sums it up. If I hadn't ramped up my expectations to totally unreasonable levels during the "superhype" period, I'm sure I would have been more satisfied with TSL. I sincerely doubt that a mere "patch" is going to blow your minds, folks, because the list of content you want restored and issues you want resolved seems more in line with an expansion pack. Maybe there is a precedent for including that sort of thing in a patch, but please, keep those expectations low - it's for your own good.
  24. I would say Captain Riken, the laid-back military dude on Onderon. He works for The Man, but he knows that sometimes the people in charge don't know what the hell they're doing. So he just worries about doing his job the best he can. Also, he's friendly and helpful. I stopped a few days ago (in the rain) to jump a crappy Honda for two random girls. AND my girlfriend was with me, so my motives were totally chivalrous.
