  1. One thing interesting about the trailer is at the beginning there is a debate about entering the mine to search for civilians. However, at the end it looks like there is no choice but to enter the mine anyway. All in all the game looks like the same garbage Bioware has been pumping out all along, where you can simply click on random dialogue options because they all lead you to the same place anyway. At least Mass Effect is not going to be as bad as BG2 where you would have 4 or 5 different dialogue options and all of them lead to the same reply. (Forget about impacting the game, the choices didnt even impact the dialogue itself! LOL!)
  2. 1. Looks better than NWN2, specially the first shot. (Will probably run better as well) However the sky in the second pic could use some work. 2. Have you got a high res version of the orc wallpaper? 3. Is there a website for the game? 4. What sort of dialogue system is being used?
  3. My FB brought Lorne down to 0 pretty easily. I found that moving around the arena in a diamond shape was the best way to avoid Lorne. It really sucked bringing Lorne down to 0 almost right away and then having to spend what seemed like hours running around the arena. (and dealing with all the fight bugs)
  4. I just wanted to point out that Fallout 2 is by no means a perfect game, and it certainly isnt the holy grail of roleplaying.
  5. Fallout 2 was pretty much a mess of a game. A majority of the skill choices available were completely useless in the game. None of the science skills were even checked until you completed about a third of the game. Doctor was useless except for getting implants. Science was also completely useless except for getting the robot. Barter(because even efter investing massively in this skill would not make a big impact on prices) was extremely useless. Also, most skill checks were about 150 or so at max, but skills could be increased to 300 - what was up with that? There was also hardly any practical gameplay application of the stealth skill(except perhaps sneaking into the vault). Throwing was useless as well. Also, how often did you even have to repair anything? After the well in Klamath and perhaps a generator or a computer here and there, the skill was useless. (although I seem to recall it having some uses in the Sierra place) The only semi useful skills in the game were lockpicking(not much locks in the game though), thieving(to a lesser extent - after the early game it became impossible to steal from most people even with really high ranks in steal). Speech was checked so infrequently that it was another almost pointless investment. Gambling could be useful if you wanted infinite money. The only actually useful skills were the combat skills except for throwing. All in all an extremely overated RPG. Sure, you could explore whereveer you want. Sure, you could roleplay different alignments. You could also build a huge number of different characters - almost all of which would be gimped and completely useless(IE no opportunities for them to actually use the skills they chose) in the game. In fact the reason I havent played Fallout 2 more than 3 times is because while the number of theoretical builds is vast, the number of actual builds supported by the game is very small.
  6. Im just pointing out that his rating system is quite skewed. Both games were flawed in many ways, they cant be called perfect by any criteria. No objective rating can call the games perfect. I suppose that thats what fanboyism does though, blinds people to a games flaws.
  7. I really have no idea how you can rate massively flawed games like Baldurs Gate and Fallout 2 as being perfect.
  8. I am entertaining myself through these boards instead of playing the game. Some of the enjoyment that I didnt get from the game, I can get by discussing it on these forums. So out of the 40 pounds of which the majority was wasted, about 5 pounds or so will be recovered.
  9. If you don't like NWN2 then why keep making and participating in NWN2 threads? Makes. No. Sense. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because I spent 40 pounds on it and I am trying to "recover" the money that I wasted on NWN2 by entertaining myself by posting on these forums about NWN2. Had NWN2 been a decent game, I would be playing it instead. And Volourn has a good point.
  10. Here are my game ratings: Planescape Torment - 9.5 (Almost Perfect) Fallout 2, Icewind Dale - 8 (Very Good) Baldurs Gate - 7 (Good) Baldurs Gate 2, Icewind Dale 2 - 6 (Average) Neverwinter Nights Expansion Packs, KOTOR - 5 (Borderline) Neverwinter Nights 2 - 4 (Pretty Bad) Neverwinter Nights OC, Temple of Elemental Evil, Arcanum - 3 (Garbage) Lionheart - 1 (Used Toilet Paper) All in all I think NWN2 has been one of the worst RPGs Ive ever played.
  11. I voted 4. Im quite desperate for something to play, but cant bring myself to replay NWN2. I would buy another copy of one of the IE games for something thats actually fun to play, but I dont like 2nd Ed rules. The NWN2 OC is just that bad.
  12. How would you rate the NWN2 OC? You shouldnt only take into account the OC itself, but other issues affecting the gameplay such as bugs, music, graphics, frame rate, interface problems etc. Replayability is another factor that should be taken into consideration. 10 is the highest score.
  13. Why am I so sure that this happened in America?
  14. The dialogue system sounds awful, and so does combat if its not stat based.
  15. I dont understand what the issue with bags is all about. Is it because there isnt enough space, or because there isnt enough weight? If weight, then I can understand. But with over a hundred inventory slots per character, I cant see why space would be an issue.
  16. The trailer looks good. Not far from Torments artistic style. There seems to be too many dwarves though.
  17. How is that? If you wear two rings of regeneration, you get plus 8, and theres a cloak which gives 1, for a total of 9. What other regeneration items are there?
  18. Why even bother with healing? I never even had to use potions, I sold them all since there was no way to get the AI to stop using them, in the end it was more trouble than it was worth. Instarest pretty much makes healing redundant anyway.
  19. That makes you one of the best the human race has to offer, intelligence wise? Pretty bold statement. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, far from it. But certainly much higher than average. By "not the best" I was letting the PST bashers off easily. I dont want them to feel bad about themselves.
  20. Intelligent people generally like reading. Less than intelligent people dont like reading so much. People who are dumb tend not to like reading at all. These are facts. Based on the above facts, we can conclude that those who dont like PST are not the best that the human race has to offer, intelligence wise.
  21. Volourn is flopping like a fish out of the water.
  22. This is why I said that there needs to be a button to toggle follow universally. Actually there should be universal toggles for all the instructions, but stand your ground is the only one I made use of, so its the only thing relevant to me. It is really stupid to have to continously hold right, navigate a menu and click two buttons to make people stand their ground. And when you switch to another character you need to repeat the process again because stand your ground will only apply when the character who issued the command is selected.
  23. America got independence before the British colonized India.
  24. I don't disagree with that. I think PS:T failed for a variety of reasons Irrelevant combat is probably more interesting than irrelevant dialogue. Not for everybody of course, but maybe for the mainsteam audience. Anyway PS:T was the embodiment of irrelevant combat and had a huge amount of irrelevant reading. I think it would have been a better game if a lot of that text had been edited out. Stream-lined so to speak. Fallout and even BG struck a better balance between time spent reading and time spent doing. edit: quote fixing <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Time spent doing? Doing what? Fedex quests and mowing down the black areas of empty maps?
