  1. Yeah, it's funny because I think DS3 has some good old BG2-like side-quests in Raven's Rill, with Gunderic Manor and the Crypt of Heroes being entire dungeons dedicated to side-quests, and they are off the beaten path, even if not by much. Of course the player will always receive the quests, but still, I thought it was nice. Unless I missed something mandatory to do in those dungeons? For example, do we have to complete Gunderic Manor to get our second companion after the bridge? I'm playing Katarina and wanted to do the Manor with Lucas, but he wasn't at the bridge. Also, funny that you get a bigger insight into Leona's character by doing her quest after freeing Raven's Rill. But later, there are no more of those. More dungeons like that in Stonebridge at least would have been nice! About Lucas... Just play a little more. /spoiler Kat was my first playthrough.
  2. I haven't had the seller achievement unlock either on Steam, and I always get the deed. Also, the suffering 100K damage achievement hasn't unlocked either, though I've gotten the deed multiple times.
  3. I'm just glad I have my backlog from the last Steam sale, because on the RPG front for the PC, things look pretty grim if you're not a fan of MMOs and sandbox-style games.
  4. Honestly, about the crafting: I've personally never been a fan of crafting systems, unless you're talking the KOTOR and KOTOR 2 implementations of the workbench and lab stations. Obsidian's improvement of the workbench was a thing of beauty, TBH, and the only place I've ever actually enjoyed crafting and upgrading items. Unless Obsidian wants to add that mechanism to a DS4 (please, let there be one!), I could just as easily live without it. OTOH, I didn't mind Dragon Age's enchanting, outside the crafting elements introduced into Awakening. I wouldn't mind seeing something like that added.
  5. When you first speak to him when you decide the fate of the krug. When talking about how the people of Stonebridge killed the old Legionnaires there's an option you can pick along the lines of forgiving people for their mistakes and letting go of the past. Thanks for that! This playthrough, I'm Reinhart, so I'd have missed that one for good. Here's a consolidated list of influence opportunities for Reinhart (and I'm not sure if I missed any after the Spire), including yours: Influence Reinhart: When you first speak to him when you decide the fate of the krug. When talking about how the people of Stonebridge killed the old Legionnaires there's an option you can pick along the lines of forgiving people for their mistakes and letting go of the past. (Thanks, frustratemyself!) Agree to spare Jeyne and the other archons: "Agreed-- no killing" Free Fitch in the Spire dungeon Tell Jeyne in the first confrontation in the Spire, "Surrender."
  6. I've found trader quite useful, actually. My Lucas/Reinhart playthrough was the first where I could actually afford Fitch's armor at endgame
  7. Just so others don't share in my pain, hit "C." The tutorial window that popped up with the shortcut vanished as I was in the middle of trying to get new grenades... I promise I googled this, and there was a whole big nada I could come up with.
  8. My problem's pretty much up there in the title-- I'm stuck in gadget training and I can't figure out how to equip the EMP grenade to take out the lock. I've gone into inventory, selected the grenade, and backed out again, even tossed away all my concussion grenades, and I can't actually equip and hold the EMP grenade to toss at the door. Could you please tell me how you do that, exactly? I feel like such an idiot for even having to ask this
  9. More for Reinhart at Spire Bailey: Choose "Jeyne doesn't know you're here," when the archons greet you. Agree to spare Jeyne and the other archons: "Agreed-- no killing" Free Fitch in the Spire dungeon
  10. Oddly enough, I've had an easier time with that fight than the next with Jeyne and her two handmaidens. I've had my arse handed to me too many times to count on that one, especially on my Anjali/Kat playthrough. Kat's down. You try to resurrect her, but that @$## melee handmaiden throws you across the room just as Kat's about to stand up. The final boss, the corrupted archons in the forest, the last Jeyne battle-- all of them are a billion times harder in my playthroughs.
  11. That's really interesting. When I played with him and maxed his influence, I still sided with the cyclopses. I can almost see the logic behind his stance: he's nobility with old-fashioned ideas about oaths and values. He'd see a contract, no matter how old, as an oath that can't be broken and an obligation, just as he's still obligated to the Legion and its ideals.
  12. Not that some of those points wouldn't work for a Space Siege 2 I'm weird-- I also liked Space Siege when it came out. I tried playing it again recently when Steam was having major issues after I had to replace my motherboard, but it just didn't quite click with me. I missed having companions. A lot. And I didn't get far enough to find HR-V-- just to Gina and that @$#@$# battle on the catwalk melee style. I loathe melee in that game, and I can't quite get the hang of evading again either.
  13. And after the Dapper Old Gent battle and justice for the Legion quests: Tell the Gent "Not all the people were guilty." Take custody of the Gent Tell the Meisters, "We'll respect your decision." Tell Pratz that a sincere apology is enough Choose not to prosecute Wenzel
  14. So far as I can tell, three Reinhart influence opportunities in the Foundry (I'm at the third stage of influence): Tell cyclops leader "We were defending ourselves." Side with Fiddlewick-- "The cyclopses have rights." Refuse the reward from Olbert for saving his men.
  15. Wait, you're saying Dungeon Siege 2 had complex leveling? I loved DS 2, but the skill trees weren't exactly complex.
  16. I'd like to see a longer storyline, more sidequests, more opportunities to interact with your companions. Like a lot of other people said, more of the same. A couple of camera tweaks for a longer field of view, and the chance to save the game whenever I'd like would be icing on the cake.
  17. I'm playing through this time with Reinhart as my sidekick. I utterly adore him-- he's so adorkable! I'm not through yet, but I've gotten him to the second tier of influence. I'm about halfway through Stonebridge-- killing my way through the foundries. This isn't exhaustive, but what I remember: Side with Hans over Baron Barrenbaron (if I spelled that right) Ask Roslyn: "You were there?" when she tells you she saw the Radiant Youth Tell Roslyn you'll spare Jeyne Ask Jeyne if she's willing to talk in the Glitterdelve Mines Defeat the warbeast Side with Marten in telling the truth about the Legion Tell Odo Roslyn will make a good queen Suggest negotiation when Odo asks what to do next Have Reinhart with you when you defeat Ehregott I wish I could remember the initial influence opportunity, but I've gone blank.
  18. There's a secondary book you find in one of the rooms that also gives you the password. Just found it for the first time last night.
  19. Yeah me too. Since i bought the pc version and heard people complaining about the controls and camera, i haven't installed the game. Next week its Dungeon Siege III week for me Good job Obsidian. The controls aren't that bad. I've still played and had a blast anyway.
  20. I'm just grateful it's Obsidian designing the compass and minimap system and not you Then again, I ended up needing the strategy guide in ME2 because the "dumbed down" arrow-only minimaps and lack of level maps kept me constantly confused. I was a little sad that DS3 didn't have a large-level map, but the minimap was well-done, and the breadcrumb trails helped reassure me that I hadn't gotten turned around backwards as I was flipping around in combat. I'm hopeless without a map, even in relatively linear areas.
  21. I actually bought an inexpensive controller to try on the demo. My biggest problem is that I've never owned a console, and my last real gamepad/controller experience was decades ago when they weren't so complicated (ancient, ancient Nintendo), so trying to use it drove me close to insane. Figuring out what LT and RB and X and A and whatnot struck me as a lot harder than just getting used to the semi-funky PC controls. Add in that the game doesn't like my Logitech controller, and I had to use a semi-functional X-Box emulator that seemed to confuse the navigation pad with one of the two joysticks sporadically, and the mouse and keyboard just seemed a lot easier. I also ran into another weird problem-- controllers are designed for far bigger hands than my dinky little stubby claws. The controller's uncomfortable after more than a few minutes.
  22. The PC version was $49.99 on Amazon pre-order, and though it was a little short by RPG standards, I really enjoyed it and will be getting a lot of replay value for my money. It took me about 24 hours for the first playthrough. Honestly, this game felt like a far better value for my money than Dragon Age 2. I haven't run into any game-breaking bugs, and though the PC controls aren't the best, the game flows really well. I'm having a blast on my second playthrough with Reinhart.
  23. I guess I've gotten used to A and D controlling the camera from both Dragon Age games, so that honestly didn't bother me. Same with "E" as the interactive button, akin to Mass Effect and ME2. I may be the only one, though. What I hated was inventory on F (right next to D when you're flailing around fighting) and quests on X when you're fumbling to back up. Urgh.
  24. Just adding in my extreme longing for this patch. I *finally* got the hang of the controls, sort of, about 20 hours in, though I hardly ever used abilities. What's really killing me is "F" for inventory, and "X" for quests. I'm hammering away at the keys in the middle of being surrounded by mobs, and--crap!-- the inventory screen opens. Or the quest screen when I'm trying to back away. It didn't stop me from playing the game or having a lot of fun with it, but I did more than my share of cussing.
