  1. Tartantyco a few posts back has links to portrait packs in his signature. Check these out. Edit: Or right below me. Speak of the devil...
  2. Decided to play the klepto and steal everything I could lay my hands on... and I realized that none of the lootable items/containers in most locations have some type of "ownership" status, that pisses off their owners if they see you steal from them. For example, * In the Mill, there are 2 crates. Taking their content does not elicit a reaction from the 2 staffers. * In the Temple of Bereath, there is one urn. Taking its content does not elicit a reaction from the local cleric person. * Etc... Again, not a bug per se, but it IS something that needs to be addressed, in conjuction with http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/67889-daynight-cycle-ideas/
  3. I'm not saying this is final or non-final, I'm just reviewing what's out there now, and what's missing. I got no idea what the devs have in store for us, but there's a good chance portraits are something they'll take care of later when they're done doing icons and stuff. And then this thread will be there for them, as a "hmmm, right, there's not a lot of choice for this type of NPC..." type of reminder or something.
  4. "I have spoken with Darren Monahan and we are working towards a resolution to the lock period from editing posts. We want to allow users to create updated lists of known issues and help to minimize the stress on the forums overall." What's this I hear? The faint shimmer of an iota of hope? Naysayers may naysay But I tell you this my friends, Soon, we may rejoice in the sweet sweetness of sweetitude!
  5. Yes, skin tone is also badly represented here, didn't notice it the first time around because I was upset at the lack of dwarves and not seeing much past my own nose. Most are white. It'd be nice to move away from the "regular guy is white" mentality.
  6. Going to post a link to a portrait review I made so if someone feels like creating custom portraits for the world to use, they can focus on areas where there's not currently a whole lot of them if they wish: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/66981-portrait-review/ Who knows, maybe devs will also read it and use it to focus their portrait work later.
  7. I'm a bit surprised to see poison work if you're petrified. How does poison flow when you're completely turned to stone? Poison can't flow in stone. (Likewise if you have effects such as bleeding). Honestly, I kinda expected petrification to actually make you immune to poison/bleeding/other similar types of damages. Direct HP damage makes sense, given you can't resist anything and if someone chips off pieces of you, it's gotta have quite a substantial effect. However, personally, I'd make it so crushing damage is super effective, and slashing/piercing not really effective (maybe DT vs crushing = 0, DT vs slashing/piercing = 20). Maybe something similar for spells, especially those dealing some kind of "impact" damage, compared to those that damages you because "you're standing in a really cold area".
  8. In Dyrford, I had a corrupted game, so I decided to see what would happen if I just went balistic and killed everything that moved 1) The threshold for the town objecting to broad daylight murder is insanely high. I think I killed half the town before Villagers turned red. 1.1) Even "groups" of nearby villagers were completely unphazed by the murder of their friend 2 feet away from them, carrying on conversations as normal. 2) Villagers should be level 1 humans with stats of 10 all accross, or at least something that puts up a fight better than a dry strawman inside a forest fire. They were one hit kills. 3) Everyone living "inside" were completely oblivous to the bloodbath "outside". Winfrith, Tyrgril, everyone in Dracogen Inn, etc... Easiest way would be to put people into a "Dyrford faction", and make the hole faction hostile when you go psycho. 4) AFAIK, my "cruelty" rating never went up. None of these are "bugs" per se, but they are certainly *issues* that need to be tackled in some way or another.
  9. I suspect poison damages isn't subject to the damage threshold or similar. Not sure if that's actually the case though.
  10. There's no list mostly because we can't edit things in perpetuity. I wish Obsidian would let us edit threads indefinitely. The only way to find old issues is to pretty much use the search bar, or browse the forums manually.
  11. All known issues, except you can definitely alt-tab in and out of this game on most setups. I'd make a specific report with your graphic card + driver + system information for that one.
  12. The item disappearance bug usually craps out on you, and you run out of lockpicks, and the rogue can't pick or use keys at all. At this you, you have to restart the game. If you want to prevent the disappearance bug, NEVER stack any items together, and it helps a lot. Other things can cause it, but stacking garantees it.
  13. Quest disappearing is a save/loading issue at the moment, and is known. The grappling hook is also a known issue. Missings strings also a known issue, but you can take a look at http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/67737-missing-string-master-list/ to see if you discovered new ones. As for attaching the savegame, try zipping it first?
  14. This may or may not be easy to implement in its entirety, but it would be nice to have a game where merchants aren't open 24/7 and where people go to sleep, etc... So for some specifics, taking Dyrford as an example, using an 8AM to 8PM day. NPC schedules * Winfrith - Spends the night inside the Dracogen Inn, drinking and talking with Sid, tells you to come to his shop in the morning if you want to do business * Rumbald - Sleeps in his home (bit sad that you can't get inside his home at the moment however) * Hendyna - Sleeps in her house * Lord Harond - Asleep in his room, with guard(s) outside, breaking-in triggers combat unless you have news of Harond's daughter, or are very stealthy. * Dengler - Replaced by his son, <Name> * Celby - At Temple of Bereath 24/7 * Sid - There 24/7, cursed with insomnia * Medreth & Company - There 24/7, always scheming, shouting at his company that they can't let their guards down otherwise their mark will slip away * Trygil - There 24/7, always scheming with his assistant, unless it's easy to make him sleep in his quarters without breaking questlines Plus some general lock/unlock logic * Occupied homes should be unlocked during the day. *Unoccupied homes and should be locked during the day. *Sleeped in homes should be locked during the night. *Shops should be closed and locked at night. *Locations like the Mill should also be vacated and locked at night.

  16. Sounds like a bug. I'd report it.
  17. "Constant Recovery (Modal)" Actually, this one is a passive. The text says Modal, but it's behaviour is passive, and Obsidian confirmed it's meant to be passive.

  19. In D&D, ignoring CON was more or less suicide. Well I ran some numbers. There are many rules for HP calculation in D&D, but let's use those from PoE for comparison. Namely you take 3 HD + 1HD/Level (including Lvl 1) + bonuses, and let's compare that to "average" characters. In D&D 3.5, the "average" hit dice was d8 (with -5HP per HD at 1 Con, +0HP per HD at 10 CON, +5HP per HD at 20 CON), in PoE the "average" is 12 with a bonus of 20% (10 CON). For a level 1 character, 3 HD + 1HD/Level (including Lvl 1) + bonuses gives you the following hit points CON D&D3.5 PoE 1 12 49 10 32 56 20 52 67 Basically, the effect of CON in D&D 3.5 is much, much more important than in PoE. A max CON character in D&D would have 4.3 times the hitpoints of a min CON character. In PoE, a max CON character would have 1.4 times the hitpoints of a min CON character. Using harder D&D rules like the standard Max HD + random d8 + bonus makes everything even further appart. You could interpret this as a sign PoE needs a bigger CON bonus for it to be worth something, or that you need to invest more in CON for the bonus to be meaningful. But really what I think that what this means is that in PoE, CON will not make-or-break your character. While a fighter with 20 CON will have an edge over a 10 CON fighter, that edge is more or less 20% more hit points in POE, where it was 60% more hit points in D&D 3.5.

  20. From http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/67567-grammar-dyrford-ruins/ Where: Skean Cultist template, in the story board when clicking on the posts where you're supposed to use the grappling hook Current: "On other side..." Expected: "On the other side..."

  22. A good DM doesn't waste a dragon on a random encounter.
  23. So your entire point of contention is that you call it a violet automobile and I call it a purple car? Yeah I'm done with this conversation.
  24. In that specific case, yes. And concerning metagaming, regardless of whatever linguistic roots you want to give it, it means playing with the specific goal of obtaining an outcome based on rules that a character living in the universe would not be aware of. Or as Wikipedia puts it: Metagaming is any strategy, action or method used in a game which transcends a prescribed ruleset, uses external factors to affect the game, or goes beyond the supposed limits or environment set by the game. Another definition refers to the game universe outside of the game itself. In simple terms, it is the use of out-of-game information or resources to affect one's in-game decisions. There is even an article specifically on metagaming in RPGs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metagaming_%28role-playing_games%29). I suggest you read it before accusing others of ignorance. In this case, you use the knowledge that (or hope that) devs didn't account for the Pacifist on the way in, Psycho on the way out, or didn't have the time to prevent the player from taking this path through defensive coding.
