  1. the reason you cannot zoom in further or at a better angle is because the game engine doesnt draw the sky. if you tilted the camera up like you want to, they would have to draw the sky in. i also want health bubbles to stay longer. and i also want health bubbles to be collected when you roll - at the moment rolling doesnt pick up bubbles.
  2. whenever i launch the pc demo, subtitles have switched back on. does that happen with anyone else? (happens on consoles aswell)
  3. with regards to the pc version. -AA doesnt seem to be working at all for ATI cards, whether i set to application controlled or not, as ive mentioned in the thread linked below - http://forums.obsidian.net/index.php?showtopic=57635 -when you mention 'blurred textures' are you referring to the pc demo, or the console demo? does this 'blurred textures' issue explain why setting low/medium/high texture quality in the pc demo does nothing at all? ps. while youre at it, get someone to remove the horrible sunlight/bloom shader that causes wobbling on the top 3rd of the screen. as noticed and documented in this thread linked below - http://forums.obsidian.net/index.php?showtopic=57684
  4. so you are trying to blame the lack of potions in this game because its also on console?? lololololol go play some other arpgs on console like sacred 2, then come back and apologise for your obvious console hate.
  5. steamworks is a pc thing. nothing to do with xbox 360. he can easily play the game but dlc might indeed not be valid until friday in the uk.
  6. whilst i agree to a degree about steam prices, i cant agree with the price of this game on steam. you get 2 free games with it. whether you have them already or not is irrelevant, you dont get 2 free games with the retail purchase. however that point becomes moot after release because they wont be included then.... only then will i agree with you. not before.
  7. in stock from yesterday at shopto.net (all versions) my pc version was sent today. obviously i know i cant activate until friday in the uk. i expect lots of legit topics appearing from today about gameplay/quests etc from console users. about time the devs increased the number of forums so spoiler filled threads can go in the relevant place.
  8. armour changes do show, but they are extremely minor changes. you really have to zoom in close to notice the subtle differences. no helm is weird. not game breaking... just weird.
  9. if the chapter house is the place where you first talk to odo, and those spiders are further down some stairs in that place, then i didnt encounter any problems there. i do know that the game has a tendency to lock up sometimes when i turn on/off vsync in the options menu.
  10. PC version costs only 31-40 euros in Europe shopto.net has it for
  11. ive got a really nice place in the game where it shows off this effect to a tee. just at the point where your companion from the manor says 'there it is. the entrance to the temple' you should have a save point near, a well lit path and a dark rock wall to the left of you. the dark wall is effectively being made to glow with this horrible effect and you can see the dark blue shimmering happening on the rocks. pressing prtscrn fades it out temporarily. although it doesnt get rid of the effect completely, its still present. then it will fade back in. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/690/d...iblefilter.jpg/ (if you zoom into that image on the top left where its darker you can actually see the damn bands. now bare in mind for all those just looking in, that those bands are actually moving in the game. constantly rippling upwards on the screen even if you dont move. effin awful.) its really very poor. the top of the half of the screen (say top 1/3rd of the screen to be more precise) is having this awful awful awful glow filter applied to it even in tight corridors where you wouldnt expect it to be - as you rotate around slowly the effect remains fixed on the screen. making it look like someone is shining a torch onto the screen. bad. get rid of it devs or give us an option to get rid of it. whoever coded that shader effect cannot code for ****.
  12. well im all tested out at the moment and i wanna have a blast on duke nukem. but perhaps someone will test if this 'filter' can be removed by altering some of the shader quality or visual effect quality options?
  13. ive just come from testing both the ps3 demo and the 360 demo. it happens in both of those demos aswell. the brighter the screen gets at distance (like when talking in said dialogue cutscene - or when viewing ravens rill at a distance at the very start of the section after the manor) the more the screen has horizontal waves travelling up from the around the middle of the screen. the darker the screen the less it appears. which leads me to think its a distance fogging/lighting bug in the engine. they are applying some sort of filtering so its slightly foggy at a distance but it looks awful because its wobbling very slightly. like the phase is wrong on that part of the screen. doesnt ever seem to appear below the centre line of the screen - like the fogging routine only works from the middle upwards.
  14. tested this anomaly more this morning. on my 4890 - 11.5b driver, pc connected to a samsung lc650 1080p tv. it happens. and on the same pc connected to a viewsonic 1920x1200 monitor. vysnc on. no difference. vsync off. no difference. on my gtx 550ti - 275.33 driver, pc connected to a panasonic viera 720p tv, it happens. vsync on. no difference. vsync off. no difference. - vsync definitely works in the pc demo btw. i get screen tearing with it turned off and none with it turned on. - earliest point you can notice it in the demo is the first interactive cutscene you get after leaving the manor, and youre outside. its incredibly noticeable in the background sky as you talk to the guy you met in the manor asking questions about 'what happened at the estate' etc. once you notice it, you cannot un-notice it, and it looks pretty bad. going to test the ps3 and 360 demos again upto that same point to see if my memory is correct and its in those aswell. will update here once done.
  15. as you might have read ive been testing the pc engine extensively to compare texture quality. vsync is one of the things i tested. on or off (yes you can turn it off - at least there is an option for it) it makes no difference to these lines/bars.
  16. i get that aswell on ps3, 360 and pc versions. leading me to realise its an engine problem. say youre at the pilgrims path (just after the burning manor section) you can see it very easily at the top of the screen as youre wandering down the linear path. especially in the more brightly lit areas. its like theres some horrible anistropic filtering going on in the distance and causing horizontal bars to wave. just like the interference you get from a tv that hasnt got correct x-pos, or has a speaker next to it. ive tested on a samsung lc650 1080p tv, @ 1080p res. a panasonic viera @ 1366x768 native. a 1920x1200 viewsonic monitor. does it on all of them regardless of machine used to play the game. taking a screenshot shouldnt result in a black screen though. it will just show the original picture unaffected by these wavey lines. i also dont notice it all the way down the screen, but more towards the top (ie. in the distance. further away from the main char, worse it gets)
  17. well i thought i was smooth but i didnt play much of the demo because i didnt want to spoil the full game too much. you can also trade it in on the console if the game isnt any good, or the textures are still crap. wish the developers would post some pictures of the improvement at least. submitting a patch for a demo on consoles takes time, especially 360 certification.
  18. runs smooth. looks like crap though because of the texture bug in the demo. devs said theyve fixed it, and if it indeed is running at 1080p AND has texture quality near that of the pc then ill get it on console so i can up my trophy or achievement scores.
  19. Ever tried Book of unwritten Tales and Whispered World? Adventures are still going strong in Europe. Damn, really?! I wish I would have known that sooner... =P got whispered world on steam. havent heard of book of unwritten tales, so thanks for putting that on my radar - just had a look on adventure gamers. looks very good, almost discworld'y. thats another of my faves, discworld 2 the best. didnt like noir. last adventure i bought, but havent actually had time to play, was the indie adventure called Gemini Rue which was supposed to be very good, and i had the cash spare so i bought it on a whim. bit like terraria, and i havent played it either yet. what was this topic about again? lol
  20. ther first one i ever played was bards tale on the spectrum. didnt like it really. was more into games like knight lore and other stuff back then. tinkered around with a few others like lords of midnight and stuff (didnt have a clue what was going on in that game) first rpg i ever truly loved was dungeon master on the atari st, quickly superceded by the amiga version of the same game. and then my passion for rpgs took off, and ive been buying everyone of them ever since. missed some though which sucks. but have got the originals of DS1 & 2 plus classic collections which include the expansions with the originals bundled in. my passion for rpgs was only rivalled at one point by my passion for point & click adventures which started with monkey island when someone told me to try it out. wait.... you werent talking to me?? A little off topic... Have you ever played Grim Fandango? If not, I highly recommend it if you like the point and click adventures (although, in this game there's no pointing and clicking. The controls are horrible. Like Resident Evil 2... But slogging through them is worth it just for how good the atmosphere/story is in that game). i certainly have. still got the original somewhere in the loft. the best adventure i ever played was the longest journey though. i didnt know anything about the game and just saw it lying on a shelf in Currys of all places. i looked at the back of the box, it looked like an adventure game so i bought it and was the best thing id played for ages. didnt like longest journey 2 though. :/ my passion for adventures has waned a bit now, just cant seem to get the level of immersion i can find in rpgs in an adventure. la noire comes close though. but still too much action and not enough puzzles for me.

  22. i dont know if i can take anyone seriously that has to swear in their topic to try and get a point across. just comes across as kind of childish. and anyway, you made me think 'judge for yourself' was a hyperlink. i was mousing over it for ages thinking id get a link to a rude picture. how dare you!
  23. i noticed when i played the demo that my 1080p tv didnt switch down to 720p like it normally does. ive only encountered that on a few ps3 retail games (wipeout hd, motorstorm apocalypse, sacred 2 and gta5) and each time it was because they rendered at 1080p. its hard to tell for me if the game is actually at 1920x1080 resolution because the texture bug in the console demo makes it really hard to see definition on anything. getting a close up of the same spot as i was in my 'do the graphic options do anything in the game' thread, it does appear that there is the same resolution as my 1080p pc game. certainly no 720p jaggies going on, on trees and rocks etc. can a developer actually say if its a 1920x1080, 1280x1080(gta5) or 1280x720-upscale render going on?
  24. i personally wouldnt rent a game ever. infact im not even sure you can rent pc games where i live in the UK. i suppose im in the minority where it comes to price versus length. i mean as an example i bought modern warfare 2 fully knowing it was a short single player campaign, and fully knowing that i would never, and have never, played multiplayer on it. i was quite satisfied with the game. ive wasted far more money for far less playtime in the past. (i bought street fighter 2 jap import when it first released on the famicom costing
