Swamp quests
Sabotin replied to Sabotin's topic in Dungeon Siege III: Odo's Scribbles - Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Oooh, there's also some talk about Hearthfire - an old legion outpost, hidden in the causeways. There the legion gathered to conclaves to elect the new grand master and people were initiated into the legion - if The Radiant Youth appeared to them they were accepted, or if he didn't they were cast out - even if they completed the trials that were required beforehand. A tradition continued since the Youth appeared to the founders of the legion. It should be reached by going into the causeways from Stonebridge and going the other path than to Glitterdelve once you had the quest. This thing looks like a nice bet for DLC - fits into the game nicely, without feeling like cut content as far as I can tell. Crossing fingers here :D . -
So, I was poking arround the dialogues and I noticed a chunk of goings on in the swamp that I missed entirely in my 3/4 playthroughs. Or was it cut from the game? Possible SPOILERS ahead, obviously... Is it possible to have an entirely peaceful solution to the stuck-in-the-swamp situation? Maru-Yatum is supposed to offer to return the prisoners if you take a crawler infested path out of the swamp (which also forces the royalists to abandon their cannons). But I never got to talk to him before starting the killings. Also a quest from Digglefitz the gobiln to retrieve the skull of the First Elder from some burial caves, which you can then give to Maru-Yatum and gain his trust and the title of Kthali, a warrior of great honor instead of Firebringer and Outsider (and you can also sick the tribe on the poor goblin for influence with Anjali, hehehe). Where is this guy, if anywhere (He's supposed to have come with Arah, the missionary girl)? Oh, and also a part where you're helping defend Roderick from slugs while he's setting explosive charges to blast some roots.

No, you can't max out all abilities. You can max out 5 on average. In theory Attack should be better, since it's used for both normal and skill attacks. But. BUT. First, gear gives higher bonuses in Will than in Attack, specially Reinhart's. Second, your attack increases more by leveling than your Will does, so with having a bonus of the same size, you gain more by it being a Will increase. And third, once you get Reinhart's skills going, you practically don't need to attack except perhaps to refill your focus. Also, I'm not sure, but I got this nagging feeling that Attack to damage is not a point per point translated value, i.e. having double Attack perhaps doesn't mean double damage. Edit: Eh, ninja bunny stole my post. I was checking stuff ingame to not say something false :D .

What Tigranes said - generally avoid the automatons. Thankfuly they don't have those homing electrical discharges, so you're good by just being away from them. Try destroying the pods as soon as you can to prevent too many from spawning, or another goood idea is to exploit their slow speed - destroy stuff opposite the largest group of them, by the time they get to you you'll have done your job and can move to the other side again. It also depends a bit what character you're playing with - I'd say you'll have the easiest time with Reinhart and his murder drawings. Anjali was also very good at destroying those summoning booths with pillars of fire. I'd advise against wading into the automatons though as their (usually) large number means you'll have a tough time surviving even one melee skill cast.

Well, it sais nothing about additional effects besides for Chaos: Withering and Weakening, so I'm assuming the elemental Chaos stats just have nothing additional ( although to be hones I haven't any empirical proof, as I haven't been observing their functions that much). I haven't really paid any attention to the numbers commonly associated with a stat but here's an idea: the documentation for elemental chaos stats sais that x deals low/moderate/heavy damage, but in the general chaos stat description it sais damage is associated with how high the chaos statistic is. Now it could be that an item just generally gets properties added to it and the values are derived from the gear level/rarity. Building on that it could be that the descriptions just say how high the numbers will be relative to the item. So for example if an item has property Chaos: Fire - 20, then if the same item had poison on it it would be 50 or if it had ice for example it would be 5. Am I making sense? Of course this is just an idea, sadly I've scarcely the time to test anything lately.

No, it's certainly not the blazing weapon, that has an entirely different vfx. Nor is it a weapon glow. I can tell you that I don't get it playing Lucas at Gunderic Manor with 2 points in Live by the sword. Lucas the companion does get it at leas from The first Jeyne fight onward and he starts regaining health when the sword is glowing that way. That's the explanation of my previous post.

I am so on the fence with this game..

But for the results to be helpful the sample has to be representative of the users as a whole, not just those who feel like posting. That just isn't happening on the internet. If it were that easy every game would be successful. -
Have you completed the game with this build? Can you provide some numbers of your stats endgame? I can forsee a couple of problems otherwise. On hardcore the bosses hit for thousands of damage and the assasins aren't far behind with quick 300-400 (sometimes unblockable) stabs. I'm not sure all that can be outblocked/healed. That barrier thing I regretted upgrading for damage absorption as it usually triggered anyway on the 1st hit I took (Though regardless of the upgrade it absorbed that 1 hit fully - kinda like Quen sign in The witcher 2), but I was using more of an exclusively offensive build. I will try it when I have time, however. It sounds interesting and I wouldn't mind trying out a block centered gameplay for once.

Dapper of old gent

It's possible it's just a design thing or side effect of the magic they use maybe. As for the disappearing body, I think that'd be a hint that he's not dead yet and instead excaped (maybe again into the causeways). I wouldn't put it past him to have some contingency machinery/magic in his body to sustain his life in the worst case scenario. Or maybe someone saved him from the noose or could be he escaped himself (Reinhart's tier 2 dynamic magic skill comes to mind or his ability to open causeways). -
The stats that increase with level up (if someone is interested anyway): Stamina= 2.5 * level + 4 ; rounded up You start with 7 Stamina and gain 2 points at even levels (2, 4, 6, 8, ...) and 3 at odd (1, 3, 5, 7, ...). So at level 30 you have 79. Will= level Simple, you start with 1 and gain 1 every next level, so at level 30 you have 30 base Will. Agility= level + 1 bonus increase at levels 1, 10, 19 and 28. You start with 2 and gain 1 every level, with an additional point every 9 levels after the first. So at 30 you have 34 base Agility. Attack= Sqrt(2) * level + 2 ; rounded up This one is a bit of a guess because it's not really obvious from the increases every level, but it does fit all the numbers from the game. You get 1 every level and often 2. I put Sqrt(2) because it's a pretty common number used for obfuscation in games, otherwise it could be anything higher than 1,400 and lower than 1,433 or so. If someone can get a better formula, here's the Attack numbers (with the weapon bonus subtracted, starting with level 1 and going to 30): 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 18, 20, 21, 22, 24, 25, 27, 28, 30, 31, 32, 34, 35, 37, 38, 40, 41, 42, 44, 45 The other stuff doesn't level by itself as far as I can tell. Except critical rate which is supposed to scale down, but I haven't gotten arround to such things yet.

Favorite Character and why?
Sabotin replied to XxX Post XxX's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
So far Reinhart. ++ Agility/Attack/Will/Doom = Weapon of mass destruction. It can be a bit cheesy with just putting down a Geometry and rolling arround, but eh, the enemies can be cheesy also .
