On that topic, I found the collectors edition of WH Online for 15 euros. The price on that game has dropped like a rock, I've never seen a collectors edition so cheap. And its in this huge fancy box and everything... Tempting. Yes, I'm a big box with goodies whore.

Well its been a bizzare evening here. I caved in and soul my soul to Blizzard, or would have if they let me. I was going to buy SCII and throw myself to the dogs of online competitive gameplay! Only it turns out all our local shops ran out of it two weeks ago and no one knows when new ones will arrive, and why they haven't come already in the first place. I could buy from Blizzard but they still have the 60euro price on the website and its dropped to 50 here. That's when it gets even worse - as a last resort I checked out one bookstore I knew to hold a handful of games. They have one copy left. At the old price of 60. Thankfully its all the same distributor, the one that has lowered the price to 50 so I'm having them check if the price should be lower (which it should as they set the price here). I'll know by tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

So are you buying the game now?

Who? And what the hell is Roman Imperium?

Another Warhammer MMO. Christ, GW never lets up. If Relic announces Dawn of War 3 (apart from the Space marine demo they've just announced) as well it'll be time to shoot somebody.

God I hope so.

News Int. Inc. hack phone of missing (dead girl)
Drowsy Emperor replied to Walsingham's topic in Way Off-Topic
The media are under the control of the big business, it is only possible to rein them in by stomping on the economical elites which today have, in practically every country, complete control over our political, economic and social lives - through media, our only available sources of information. In this simple thing Marx was correct - in capitalism the ruling class are capitalists. Not the Obama's, Cameron's etc but those who have money and lots of it. Until they are brought to heel and the nation state elevated to its former level of power and influence with a meritocratic system based on the actual contribution to good of the community instead of the current plutocracy ("you're worth the numbers on your bank account") this sort of thing can only get worse. -
Jeez why are you pissing on the man's parade (that includes Morgy too)? Regardless of how good or bad the game is he put a lot of effort into it, you don't have to dismiss it so vocally.

To me it sounds like an acquisition made only for the purposes of cutting down any potential competition, at the moment.

I will never understand you WoW people. Come 20 days I was already sick of the repetitive grindy nature of the gameplay,, and no amount of pretty environments, loot or level advancement could fix that. Its like I was working 80% of the time and having fun the other 20%.

*yawn* Agreed looks sluggish and poop. It was fun, the first two times round. I agree that its now yawn inducing.

You do have a sense of humor Wals. Snide people would say that to be relaxed in the presence of someone you nuked would add insult to injury.

God I hope so, still some clarification required. Well onwards to finalizing my hunt for the song on the trailer. "My World" by The Transmissions (how in god I did not know about this supergroup) I recall reading an article about the value of Eidos stocks dropping and in it were some complaints about too much cash dumped in advertising. Back when I was actively reading the dead tree version of PC gamer I recall that Eidos tended to really hog the ad space.

I think you're looking farther back than me. I recall say, the original Half Life being pretty long for a shooter. Others compensated with a infinitely replayable multiplayer like Unreal Tournament, Quake III etc. But then its not like I was ever much of an action game junkie. It all depends on what you're willing to pay, 30e for an afternoon of single player fun without significant replay value (good multiplayer) is not a good deal IMO. But that's when the average pay is 300e and 30 is 10% of what you make in a month which will make even the most generous among us stingy. @Purkake *Poor Nathaniel. Never thought the DS series had enough fans left to complain about any new entry in such a painfully mediocre series. I haven't played DS3 but I'm sure it can't be worse than the few two ugly, story deprived, hack and slash titles in the series. The only thing I recall that was any good in them was the donkey and a few dramatic vistas.

Eidos has always been like that. All in marketing for products that are weaker each year. Just remember the Kane and Lynch fiasco.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced
Drowsy Emperor replied to CoM_Solaufein's topic in Computer and Console
compared to what? Compared to my own standards? Even Fallout 3 looks really really good compared to Skyrim. It looks like Oblivon with better character models. The environments are only a tad sharper. Of course, looks aren't the potential problem, Bethesda's gameplay and storytelling is. -
You have to be a special degree of n00b to claim a game is too long. A decade ago a 5 - 10 hour game was tantamount to a slap in the face. It still is if you ask me.

Make that 1.99 and we have a deal.

You'll be on EU Nordic/East, right? Add me, I'm . Sure, when I get to my regular PC. I'm subjected to netbook torture at the moment.

Hope you like hats It's been quite an experience to see TF2 go from vanilla to what it is now. Do you play? Whats the crowd like?
-
Why would you get FPS nausea? I recall that playing the Alien in AvP could induce motion sickness in some people but really was a specific thing, with all the perspective shifts that the alien was susceptible to.

Just found out that Team Fortress 2 is FTP now. Talk about being the last one to the party. I always wanted to try this game, hope its as good as everyone says.

I can't tell if you're joking or being serious.

I've no idea why the meditation is obligatory. Well if they wanted potions to be used only for preparation as is the assumption they should have devised a stealth system so that you could scout ahead and prepare adequately. The hitman games had a similar problem, everything you needed was at your disposal but you often did not know what was beyond the next corner and couldnt sieze the opportunity except through trial and error, and abusing save/load which beat the whole "prepared assassin" purpose of the game.
-
The latter (potions) is a bad design decision, but I won't be sorry for the lack of isometric mode because Witcher 1 looked infinitely better in OTS (as you could see the sky and everything). My opinion of course. My favorite RPG's are isometric but the W1 used its OTS mode and graphics in the best possible way at the time, I think.
