The only games I've enjoyed watching are Mortal Kombat and Starcraft 2. And I'm not sure why they manage it. Being boring to watch is kind of the standard. Speed and sudden shifts are probably the cause. Although MK is not much faster than other fighting games. I admit I don't know the intricacies of DotA or tower defense games in general but the actual gameplay is so bare bones and drawn out I'm put off it already. Then again I found Skirmishcraft III boring as well. Ten man armies ain't my thing. Unless its Myth.

I'm watching the DotA 2 championship stream and for the life of me I cant see whats fun in the game. It sure is boring as hell to watch.

Funny thing, stats seem to indicate balance more than anything.

Very well put, I see many players playing a defensive game, waiting to see what build their opponent is doing so they can breakneck to counter units. Or massing roaches, the only cost effective Zerg unit and hoping for the brute force approach to work. Its actually pretty miserable to watch a 4 base Zerg get raped by a 2 base Protoss, of equal skill. Not being able to compensate even with such a huge eco advantage is atrocious. Good news, I found a web store that I ordered a joystick from some time ago. Apparently they still have copies of SCII. Should be arriving in 3 days.
-
Well ****. They're keeping the old price. No SCII for me, for now.
-
Well those are opinions of pro gamers. After watching quite a few streamed games on teamliquid, I can see why. The Zerg currently have less efficient units than the other races, and fewer viable strategies. The others are not unbeatable by any stretch but you have to play much better for the same effect. Blizzard has acknowledged something of the sort recently, motivated by a lot of complaints among top tier players (NesTea, IdrA).

Next thing you know they'll be asking for DNA verification. Keep one finger on the pad while you play! If not, EA special forces will drop through the window and shoot your dog.

Its been a long time since I heard that word, you South African you. Almost makes me miss Botswana. Anyway in these sort of discussions people from the US generally prefer the private sector, while Europeans and anyone who enjoys the welfare state (or what's left of its carcass today) generally supports it first and foremost. There are of course differences in opinion in these camps but by and large this is the prevailing attitude. After all states created Europe as it is now, while the US was basically created by entrepreneurs - or so the myth goes. So no surprises there. The problem in Europe is that states have been going the way of the US ever since Thatcher and Reagan and the neoliberals/neoconservatives (which sort of ideologically melted together) took the ideological reigns of the economy, demolishing both the functional and dysfunctional parts of the welfare state in favor of the "anything goes" capitalism, in which you basically work as many hours a week as your boss decides and your only right is to queue up at the dole if you're not satisfied. Its not that bad yet, but that's the way its going, and the state is powerless to stop it as the political elites are practically controlled by the economic elites, or melted together. This power shift undermines the basic tenets of democracy as the state is the only expression of the people as a collective. The more it weakens, the less say people have in their society. -
What I hope and think they should do is make a reasonably priced dlc that includes the new units and additions without the Zerg campaign, so that the rest of us can still stay competitive. Of course, they're not going to do it. And I hope they fix the Zerg which are currently the worst race.
-
So about a hundred to a hundred and thirty euros for the whole package. Jesus what a rip off, if you just want to get the two or three new units and stay competitive.
-
Hey peeps, what do you think price tag for the expansions will be like?
-
I have in fact played SCII during the beta as all three races, and completed the campaign at a friends house. I was hoping to play the ladders as Zerg in which case I have little choice but to buy the damn game.

Was the bride David Gaider?

How is the US moving forward if Nike fires all its US based workers in favor of Cambodian 2 cents an hour labor? All I see are personal interests there, if they happen to work in favor of the society that's great, if they don't - who cares, they go forward with it anyway. You cannot be seriously suggesting the Adam Smith notion of the market being a self-regulating force in light of the recent crisis where the state had to intervene to bail the big business out? In fact that was just further proof that the economical elites undermine the very society they belong to - and that the only safety valve is ultimately the state. And why should the state use tax payer money to bail out a supposedly private business is a huge question in itself. -
I though my personality was too lovable to pass unnoticed in any shape or form. Obviously, I was mistaken.

That's the lie the matrix wants you to believe.

Yes?

Exactly. The corporate exits only to further its own interest and if need be at the expense of everyone else. A businessman's only allegiance is money, he cares nothing for "the flag", the "common good", and values unless they are an impediment to increasing his wealth in which case he will tread all over them without thinking twice. Politicians are like that too, but they are forced to play a role and they have to do a bare minimum at least for the sake of the next elections. A capitalist doesn't. Hence, Raithe is mistaken. Of a capitalist you can at best, expect the worst. There isn't a bad trend in western society that can't be traced to the profitability of the same trend. The incredible expansion of pornography as a business is a simple and effective example. -
Yes but he wasn't praising Bioware, he's practically innocent!

So are you buying the game now? Not for PC. I have PS3 version preordered locally, I'll go see if I can bump that to the augmented edition at this stage. Yes, I occasionally buy multiple copies of a game on release date. I know, I'm going to see somebody about it, but it'll take years until we've covered my relationships. Jeez, you could buy me one as well you know.

I'd say you are probably right.
