  1. Haha, that's cool. I remember thinking, "Hey weren't there Ogre Mages somewhere in the city?" when I played with the Strategems mod. Imagine my surprise when they ambushed me at the entrance to the keep. I was playing with the options of enemy mages having access to BG2 spells like stoneskin, so even one mage represented a huge threat to my low level party, not to mention Ogre Mages who also seemed to have no problems engaging in close combat. Amazingly I managed to win that battle on my first try. I had been stockpiling arrows of dispelling throughout my playthrough in anticipation for the last battle but I didn't have many. I had to sacrifice 4 of them, one for each ogre mage. As soon as one mage's protections were dispelled my fighters would leap on them, while Kivan would take aim at the next mage. Still it was a tough battle as some of my party members were incapacitated at the start of the fight from spells and ending up almost dead. Awesome mod.
  2. Oh the days of summoning a Mordanikens sword in a room full of Illithids and shutting the door. And the calamari several minutes later. *sniggers* Haven't played BG2 with the SCS mods, but I did with BG1 and it was incredibly hard. For really tough battles I would usually use my stealth character to initiate combat then throw a nice potion of explosions in the middle of the fray. Then I would run run run away separating my main party from my stealth character. I would then try to divide and conquer leading enemies into ambushes or tight corridors. I really enjoyed it.
  3. Dawn of War 2 It was 50% off on Steam, and since I like RTS and RPG games, and from everything I've read, this game does both well. So far its been a blast to play, though I haven't tried multiplayer yet.
  4. I liked Black Whirlwind. He was inspired from one of the 108 heroes of the marsh named Li Kui, who coincidentally also had the nickname, 'The Black Whirlwind', wielded twin axes and had a history of killing people. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Li_Kui_%28Water_Margin%29
  5. Dead Space was a great game and I agree it progressively got less scary as your weapons got more deadly and your armor more bulky. Still it was a fun romp. I managed to finish the game with the standard laser cutter as I found it the most effective.
  6. Dragon Age Alpha Protocol Splinter Cell Conviction Mass Effect 2 Fallout 3 New Vegas God of War 3 Starcraft 2 Diablo 3 Arkham Asylum Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma Uncharted 2
  7. I think the whole Xenu thing was kept secret from lower tier/newer members until they were brainwashed enough to believe anything. Then critics started leaking the documents to the net and Scientology started this ruckus of trying to sue everyone who made the information available. At the same time they told members that people not ready to view the sacred documents would die horrible deaths and then made them install software on their computers that would block the showing of any site critical to Scientology. Then came the infamous Tom Cruise, I will put my ethics into you, video. Scientology threatening litigation at any site hosting said video bought more critics out of the woodwork. Then there was that episode of Southpark they tried to pull from the airways, which ultimately just made everyone more aware of the whole Xenu thing. So far they've just blundered into making themselves look like fools and succeeded in isolating their cult from the mainstream. Does anyone outside the 'church' really take Scientology seriously? Its unfortunate that they've been successful at stealing so much money from so many people in the years before most of their ugliness was brought to light.
  8. The combat animations seemed to have improved some. It actually looks like people are hitting each other and reacting to hits now.
  9. Yeah, the game isn't as fun to play as it might look. There are too many regular troopers that are immune to your force powers, lightsaber combat is not deadly in the least and most annoying of all, there seemed to be no recovery time when you get knocked down leading to enemies hitting you just as you stand up only to knock you down again. Also you had to go through a loading screen just to upgrade your force powers. I felt the game worked best when you were running down long corridors and using your force lift and push powers to slam objects into enemies. There are also some enjoyable combos you can pull off with your force powers, such as lift then electrocute, or electrocute an object then throw it at an enemy like a bomb. The best thing about the game was the story and presentation and the boss battles were pretty good for the most part. Except for that stupid Star Destroyer sequence where the in game prompts actually gave you wrong information. I was glad I rented it, because it was a pretty average game. Really a step down from JK2.
  10. I found the original DD pretty hard at the beginning then it got ridiculously easy at later levels thanks to the scorpion summoning trap. Those little buggers killed the final boss while I was in a different room.
  11. Dark Sector on PS3. I wanted Overlord 2 or Rise of the Argonauts instead, but I guess Gamefly is out. Pretty average 3rd person shooter, except you can throw a glaive like weapon as well. There are your run of the mill soldiers and zombies coming after you as well as the obligatory giant bosses. I'm at one section where the designers thought it would be great to have you solve a puzzle while zombies continually respawn. Its annoying and thinking about quitting.
  12. Agree, too much potential for eye rolling drama if you do that. I say just forget about it and move on. Have fun, meet new girls!
  13. Regarding your roommate. Obviously not to be taken into your confidence again. I didn't know guys blabbed this much. Regarding your actions. Whats done is done. You feel somewhat bad about it. Its probably more than what most people will feel. Besides, its partly his fault for leaving private stuff open on a common use computer.
  14. You realize this isn't the LucasArts forum, right? Just voicing my hopes and some disappointment I felt with Unleashed.
  15. Hope its either a new Jedi Knight game or X-wing/Tie Fighter game. If its a new JK, please don't make it like Force Unleashed with wifflesabers and every other enemy immune to force powers. Throwing things at enemies was fun at first, but quickly grew tedious. Focus on deadly lightsaber combat and easy to use force powers please. Just take JK2 and update it. I would be fine and dandy with that. Playing JK2 with the dismemberment and deadly combat codes was one of my most fun gaming experiences.
  16. As long as we're on the subject, I've noticed that a lot of people use the plural form of the verb when talking about company names and the like. Is that right? I seem to remember that company names usually take the singular verb form. 'Microsoft have developed' should be 'Microsoft has developed' and so on. As for getting your point across succinctly and effectively, its a hard skill to master.
  17. I just use the 1 gb MP3 player from Creative. No hassle, no middleware, drag and drop what I want, delete what I don't want. Cheap and reliable.
  18. Does your Farcry game usually end up with you hiding in the bushes and killing everyone as they come to investigate who is killing everyone? That happened to me all the time.
  19. What happened to him?
  20. 'harsh' or being honest? Why tip toe around the topic? He was a vile man who molested children and IMO got what he deserved. If this guy was some average guy who lived down the street from you all the facts the same except we wasn't a singer/celebrity there would be a lynch mob after him and most everyone would be dancing on his grave. But he had some hits in the 80s and only because of that some of you are blinded by that. Its sick and some of you should be disgusted with yourself for celebrating the life of a CHILD MOLESTER. Unreal how celebrities blind some people. I liked some of his songs in the 80s as well does not make him a good person. Please forgive me for feeling some sadness for the passing of man whose music was a big part of my childhood. I am surely a disgusting person.
  21. The narcoleptic Lich is an awesome idea. There should be a game made around the very concept.
  22. Oh, wow, this is sad news. I remember when my Dad first got me a Michael Jackson album way back in the 80s. I listened to Beat It for hours and grew to love his other songs. I haven't followed him seriously in years, but I'll always remember growing up to his music as a kid and trying to do the moonwalk. Rest In Peace Michael.
  23. I saw Transformers. In terms of a action movie it was watchable. In terms of a Transformers movie it kinda sucked. Although it was awesome seeing Optimus Prime kicking all sorts of Decepticon ass. Megatron went from being pretty menacing in the first movie to overly simpering in this one. Pretty dissapointing. Ugh, the twin robots. They really were bad. I haven't watched Transformers in years, and I can still think of a few characters that would have been better in the movie. If they really wanted twins they should have just put in Cliffjumper and Bumblebee. I don't remember if they are specifically twins but they had similar builds. Cliffjumper has a shoot first ask questions later attitude and Bumblebee is more prudent. That would have provided more interesting interactions while they were escorting Sam around. Or what about Prowl and Wheeljack, or Hound and Mirage. So many characters to choose from and Bay wants jive talking hatchback transformers. I was hoping for the personalities of the various Transformers to be explored more, but aside from a few Starscream - Megatron interactions, the Transformers were once again mostly giant props that destroyed things. Pretty cool to watch, but no emotional investment in movie. Ravage was cool. Soundwave was cool. Devastator was dissapointing Sideswipe but no Sunstreaker? Man, I still remember a lot about the 80s Transformers. The overall story is ok. I wasn't expecting much except to provide an excuse for the Transformers to battle it out. There is the macguffin and the convenient character that explains the backstory. Nothing special. I felt the movie ended abruptly as the final battle only took a few scant minutes. All in all, entertaining but not a must see.
  24. I just like to complain about the little things that could have been. But I am looking forward to Dragon Age tremendously. I've been itching to play a swords and sorcery game with a strong narrative and I'll no doubt enjoy DA:O despite my little complaints. I want to play a Dwarven commoner that shirks responsibility as much as possible.
