  1. Terrible news. RIP Tony Gwynn. Incredible stat: "Padres Tony Gwynn faced Greg Maddux 107 times in his career, more than any other pitcher; Gwynn batted .415, Maddux never struck him out."
  2. Jerry West has the distinction of being both a NCAA Final Four MVP and NBA Finals MVP while playing for the losing team, to his everlasting bitterness.
  3. It'll be Kawhi.
  4. It's the Manu Show here in the second quarter of Game 5.
  5. Messi with the go insurance goal to put Argentina up 2-0. PS Ronaldo wouldn't have needed the post...
  6. Wowsers. That was two quick goals by Côte d'Ivoire!
  7. Broken Age on the iPad. The tablet medium is perfect for point and click adventure games.
  8. That's Desslock. He wrote influential reviews and excellent online guides for the old IE games.
  9. So twitter tells me a hockey game happened and there was a double overtime and LA beat New York.
  10. Finally watched Netherlands-Spain. Been really difficult trying not to get spoiled all day. Fantastic rout. The Oranje have always been my #2 side.
  11. They are evil and must be stopped at all costs. Pat Riley's machinations must needs be thwarted at all fronts.
  12. http://youtu.be/LoMXwdgEhdg Chuck is pretty spot on.
  13. The Twitterverse seems to be receptive to #PillarsOfEternity.
  14. D'Antoni is not in the same level as Pop or Rick Carlisle as far as current coaches go, but he is one of the very few who actually innovates and have others copy from. Probably the most forward thinking offensive mind since Don Nelson at the NBA level. That said, he didn't really concern himself too much with defense. I'll take him as an offensive coordinator any day.
  15. Melo essentially has the stigma of being a ball-stopping black hole. It's kinda unfair, but that's how coaches designed plays for him early in his career since he's such a dominant scorer at the high post, or when facing the basket. That being said, he didn't get along with D'Antoni because his offense relies on pace and ball movement. It was unfortunate that he didn't buy in with D'Antoni's HORNS sets either because he didn't want to give up the rock once he does get the ball on the high post, which is a key component on HORNS. Unfortunate because a healthy Melo, Amare, Baron, and Linsanity HORNS Pick n Roll offense would have been devastating and they could have been really good.
  16. https://vine.co/v/MjXhOiEgdBa Fact: Yoenis Cespedes has a howitzer for a right arm. He has 8 outfield assists so far, leading the majors.
  17. I'm actually not outraged or incredulous about this at all. More power to Bron-Bron et al if they can leverage this. They still evil though and Pat Riley is Ming the Merciless incarnate. The Warriors are the good guys with their mission of...Love!
  18. Excellent reporting on Pat Riley's Evil Plan of Global Domination. http://m.espn.go.com/nba/story?storyId=11068709&src=desktop&rand=ref~%7B%22ref%22%3A%22http%3A%2F%2Ft.co%2Fd2qQZs1nCA%22%7D
  19. Tikrit is now overrun and major oil fields are under the control of ISIS. They are now 90 miles away from Baghdad. Maliki has been pretty stubborn about asking for assistance. But the USAF can scare the bejesus out of ISIS very quickly and there are assets within range in the area. Or the Navy. They have carriers in the region. Iraq must ask formally.
  20. But I really do dislike the Heat and KD deserves to win the MVP and Lebron slacked off on defense so much that he rightfully didn't deserve to make All NBA First Defense Team. Additionally, the Spurs are better than the Heat.
  21. Something much more complicated that any one country/faction/something similar could be blamed for it alone. Which was why I made the same essential statement as Oby, only substituting the Soviet Union with and with sarcasm.
  22. I don't like the Heat. I like the Spurs. Pop made his adjustments but Spoelstra wasn't able to counter until after the half. By then it was too late and so San Antonio won.
  23. That picture reminded me of an old photo from Kabul, Afghanistan taken in the 70's of Young women in a public park wearing miniskirts. Also, in the 80's Indonesian women wore very western fashions, but in the 90's, headscarves became more and more prevalent amongst even the mainstream. All have nothing to do with an American invasion. Wait, what happened in Afghanistan in the 70's? Soviet Union something or another?
  24. Yeah. I had to look at Wikipedia to remind myself what and where an Iraq is. In the meantime, stock market is at near record highs!
