i think i threw a puck at the tv. yeah, that one hurt real bad. 114 points that season. of course, 114 points after they started this 1 point for an OTL crap doesn't mean as much, but if you take away half their OTL points, i think they still ended up around 105 or so, which still ain't too shabby. i'm just glad i don't root for the avalanche, btw. that would suck. taks

which i've never disagreed with. that doesn't change the fact that it doesn't matter. i couldn't care less that you're picking on the blues. i already said i doubt they'll win. you seem to think that past examples somehow shed some obscure light on this situation, which clearly is not true. all i ever said was that previous examples have no bearing on this case, which is a true statement. now you're simply making things up. all i said is that other examples have nothing to do with this one. no kidding. as such, no other series has any bearing on this one. that's all i've said. nothing personal, but i have always found it humorous that people are willing to look at the statistics from unrelated contests, and perhaps even the oddball flukes in which the heavily favored teams lose, or the underdog pulls it off, as justification that "it's happened before, it can happen again." what happened in the past is irrelevant to what is happening now unless you compare the same teams in a reasonable time frame (teams change fairly rapidly). there is no "memory" to influence the outcome other than fan support (i'm sure it hurt the aints when people showed up wearing unknown comic bags over their heads), and that gets lost on the split between sites anyway. most people don't understand why doing so is nonsensical. that is the only reason i took issue with your statements. quite frankly, it surprised me that you of all people would make such comparisons given what i know of your technical background. sorry if you took offense, it was not meant to be offending. taks

no, not because i don't want it to, because history does not have a memory like you are assuming. what has happened in the past has no bearing in any way shape or form on this series, period. really, tell me how any previous game between other teams has any influence on these two teams - it's not like there's some cosmic connection and the hockey gods know that such things must come to pass? btw, st. louis does not have any advantage on paper, nor did i ever imply as much (just that they've been hot), so that point is lost, too. overall, they played pretty evenly tonight, and it was a good game. i watched it on versus HD. mason missed the pass on the first goal, and got screwed on the deflection for the second. the blues had too many shots in luongo's chest to even the game out in terms of scores. even a bad goalie can stop it when you put it in his chest. dang. all three scores, btw, were during a man advantage (even the first because of the delayed penalty vancouver had pulled luongo). taks

i've got a 52" sony LCD. but the flick wasn't in HD so i wasn't watching that large of a picture. in spite of the fact that i know all those things were added intentionally, overall it was just a retarded movie, worth one watch for giggle factor, as you noted, but nothing else. taks

not sure that seeing the whole thing would have helped. in a theater, maybe, assuming the crowd had enough collective intelligence to make properly sarcastic remarks throughout the film. stuff like "go peggy!" and similar. we had that going on when a group of us in high school all went to see nightmare on elm street... while stoned. the entire theater was laughing at us in the back. it wasn't on DVD, btw, but on one of the non-HD movie channels i get... encore or something, i think. i like kurt russell, so i'll probably watch death proof, too, but they are only showing them together or planet terror alone, not death proof alone. hey, btw, at least tarantino got it good in planet terror. is it me or does he look like he gained some weight since pulp fiction (even after i shrunk the screen down for the non-HDness)? taks

elf, actually, is fairly dangerous, though i don't know if they have killed. lots of arson, however. taks

i'm still undecided on whether they are better coached. murray has a good track record, but it's too early (in his career with the blues) to say for sure. he's made a lot of changes, and the young team seems to be part of what he wanted for a turn-around. the reason i don't totally discount mason in the playoffs, btw, is simply because the pressure was on even worse just to get to the playoffs. the blues, even in their hot 2-month ending, aren't really known for power and goal scoring. mason had to play stellar just for them to make it. the pressure had to be immense. we'll probably get to see right away tonight. if he's giving up soft goals (something luongo has been accused of in the past, btw), it might spell doom for the blues. i'm watching if i can, btw. they're the only west matchup tonight so it might be on the tube here in CO. personally, i don't care about any of the other matchups. i don't have time to watch so i have no concept of what any team is doing except the blues, and even then i can only read about them on the web. sigh... life in a no-hockey town. i haven't lived in a hockey town since 1995. taks

maybe, maybe not. that the blues bested them 4-2 just 20 days ago, however, is telling, and at this point, 4-1 would be a rout given that information. my only point with this is that those cases have no bearing on THIS case. perhaps. i'm still saying it goes to 7. we shall see. taks

best movie ever: grindhouse presents: planet terror. [/sarcasm] oh gawd was that ridiculous. a new twist on zombie movies. supposed to be a spoof of 70s "exploitation" movies, but i cannot for the life of me figure out what the "exploitation" actually was. i can understand the concept of "blaxploitation" movies, which were quite obvious, but what did horror movies from the 70s actually exploit? stupidity? best scene in the movie: rose mcgowan running across the parking lot (as grenades, bombs, and other destructions are going off) with a large caliber machine gun in place of her right leg. yeah, rose was a peggy. the whole series of scenes from the time she got that replacement leg (she broke off the wooden peg in some guy's eye) till the end of the movie was hilarious simply because it was sooooo stupid. michele wanted to hurt me, i think. i'm not sure if i want to see death proof now. taks

i have no one to root for this year in football. mizzou will suck without daniel and maclin, the rams are just pitiful and will likely continue down that path until they drop bulger (never liked him anyway), and i cannot get into denver. i will . i do root for the cardinals secretly, however, but only because i've always liked warner and he has a few of the best receivers in the game, which makes watching fun. looks like they get 3 prime-time national tv games this year, btw. i can only root for them secretly because of my roots in st. louis - i am required by some sort of family law to hate bill bidwell. taks

i'm just pointing out that there is no evidence vancouver is capable of a 4-1 rout over st. louis after only going 2-2 in regular season play (the last time they played, the blues won 4-2). winning, yes, but 4-1, low probability, particularly given how hot the blues have been in the past two months. face it, they went from 15th seed to 6th by winning repeatedly. the goalie difference is immaterial, too: luongo has it over mason by 0.004 sv. and 0.07 GAA, hardly worth noting in a 7 game series. as for the rest of your post, i'm not sure how any of it is material. sometimes better teams are upset, other times not. the head to head matchup in this case is all that matters, and there's no clear "better team," except for a guess, which is why i asked "how did you come up with that?" personally, i haven't watched enough of the blues (nor the canucks) to see how well they've been doing. we don't get them on tv here in CO unless they're ranked high, which they haven't been in several years. all i have are stats, which pits them not too far apart. we shall see. i do give the edge to vancouver in one potentially key area: experience in the playoffs. mason hasn't ever been there from what i gather. taks edit: i should add, the blues lack of a stanley cup is almost purely the result of poor goaltending in the playoffs. they've repeatedly had some of the best goalies in regular season play with absolutely horrendous playoff performances. my fingers are crossed for mason this time around.
-
not sure how you come up with that. they were 2-2 against each other during the season, and the blues are going in to this round on a serious hot streak. taks

she's still there as jeff goldblum's partner. sunday... which also means the beginning of in plain sight. taks

i barely got my 3 fights for the day in. won them all, and now it's looking like i'm 1 win from level 5. taks

i should point out that the blues went from 15th to the playoffs as the 6th seed in about 2 months. ZOMG!!!123~!@#$~! taks

http://www.uccs.edu/~ur/2006/view_article.php?article_id=491 10th in the nation for public schools that offer bachelor's or master's degrees. not too shabby. we've been ranked every year for the past 4 or 5, as i recall, but we are shrinking. somebody needs to kick up the advertising. taks

which has like a ridiculously low rate of success. of course, i "quit" in may, but still cheat on weekends when i'm at the pool hall drinking. taks

well, noth ain't the "new guy" anymore. he's the "old guy" now, replaced by jeff goldblum. michele hates him. i'm having a hard time disagreeing though the one show i did like him in from the wayback machine in my head was tenspeed and brownshoe. he played a detective in that as well, so i'm hoping it carries over. of course, i may not even like that old show now, who knows? taks

we went to a pretty good german restaurant, Edelweiss. very tasty, filling food. mmmm... taks

anyone that favors taking away rights of one to give to another is a hypocrite, alanschu. if you're a libertarian, you should understand that. rights cease to be rights when they can be infringed upon at will. that his views are otherwise moronic is self-evident. he's not a "centrist" by any stretch, even if he wants to paint himself that way. taks edit: and for the record, you need to brush up on your "isms," krezack. i'm no libertarian, it's just the closest political affiliation to my beliefs. i'm simply a rational thinker. rational thought always leads to objectivism and thus, capitalism. you should try thinking rationally sometime and check your emotions at the door.
